I've paused Zelda 1 for NES (I can't find Gannon again) and have been playing Sonic Heroes for my DS. I would like the game a lot more if it wasn't so stylus intensive, I hate the stylus generally and this game is based all around it. I also don't get the fighting - I always win with ease hands down. It's nice that I can save anytime though, I love games with that feature =)

Got a boxed copy of Super Castlevania 4, when I traded in a bunch of games and controllers I don't need. The funny thing is I had the game on the Virtual Console and only got so far, but when I played it on the SNES I got a lot further. Something about Castlevania games gets my blood pumping heh.
Also Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness-N64
and Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow-NDS
Yeah I'm on a Castlevania craze.

Persona 3 FES: The Journey (PS2) - I've been playing this game on and off since it came out and now it's crunch time to try and beat this and The Answer before Persona 4 comes out.
My Japanese Coach - DS - I'll be picking this up on my lunch break today and will be playing this at work all the time to brush up on my Japanese for time in between now and my next japanese class.

Get the Star Soldier PSP game as well... it's an excellent update of the original Fam/NES game, and you hold the PSP vertically (tate is what its called?) to play.
How do they make the control scheme work on that one? I got a couple PSP games with tate modes, but while they look beautiful, I can't find a control scheme that isn't anything but horrible. That's what kills me about the PSP. It's perfect for tate, but they didn't design the buttons to be configurable that way. The Wonderswan handled it well, yet it has next to no shooters. We just can't win. :(
Anyway, as for my gaming, this is the first time I have no new additions, caught nor encountered, in Pokemon Pinball on my Game Boy Advance SP. I have been playing but only a tiny bit. For some reason, I'm also having more trouble making map moves now that I need to do them. I'm probably overthinking things. Plus I can't ignore catching and evolving Pokemon because I need those precious seconds of Savers to keep the ball in play and to rack up slots to earn more bonuses.
Instead of Pokemon Pinball, I've mostly been doing some console gaming for a change. I FINALLY got Infinite Undiscovery, after being jerked around by GameStop's customer service for a month. We actually just gave up on them and went with Amazon, so congratulations GameStop.com, you lost another customer. It took a few days before I could borrow a 360 to play it, and so far, I gotta say I'm not enjoying it that much. I do expect to enjoy the game overall, but now I know why people say the intro sequence is terrible. This chase scene after chase scene business is really killing my desire to press forward. Right now I'm saved right before the sequence in which I have to carry Aya to Noolan with the dragon attacking. Can't wait to get to the town and have the normal game start. It's as if tri-Ace listened to all the complaints people had about their intros over the years - too long and slow with endless dialogue and no action except maybe one or two super easy fights - and did the exact opposite to the extreme. Infinite Undiscovery tries to make its intro so intense and action-packed, but it's kind of frustrating to be running away over and over from this huge guy you can't kill that can kick your ass before you even have the controls down. I actually got a Game Over the first time I was trying to escape from the prison. Granted, it probably doesn't help that this is my first time using an Xbox controller since I've never playing any kind of Xbox before, 360 or otherwise. It's pretty cool getting to try it out, especially as this is my first foray into real next-gen gaming (unless you want to count the Wii or my experience with the current handhelds).
I also popped in Beautiful Katamari, which I picked up this summer. Talk about derivative to the extreme. Even the King's goofy lines feel like Namco is just going through the motions. While it doesn't feel creative anymore, it's still fun to play like always. Seems a little harder too. I got a Game Over twice, and when I beat the stages, I usually just barely hit the requirement.
And finally, Shepherd's Crossing for PlayStation 2 arrived a day earlier than expected, and I'm very pleased with the purchase. I put around 2, 3 hours just toying around with things, breeding marmots and what have you. I really love the relaxing music and pretty 2D graphics. And maybe it's just me, but I think the needlepoint-style fabric for the text boxes is a neat touch. Also, Brammy the Duck has got to be one of the coolest characters ever. :) Not only can this duck talk with humans and knows everything about everything, but he can freakin' WRITE. Sure, his handwriting looks like a kindergartener did it, but it's still pretty impressive for a duck. :P And he has a bottle strapped to his back "for personal reasons", haha.

I don't find it cumbersome to play like that... it could be better, but they did well with what they had. The game itself is excellent. Good graphics and sound along with the usual gameplay. It is not an easy game, however.

Yeah... I can't blame Hudson at all, but I just can't play games with my hands not side-by-side, not unless we're talking some old school kind of joystick. It's too bad that the d-pad and analog nub aren't reversed; then it could be somewhat like the Wonderswan layout. Granted, that might make playing normal widescreen games less comfortable to play. Even so, you'd think these companies would try something with the analog nub. Like with a shooter you could use the d-pad to move and any position on the analog nub that isn't centered at neutral would cause the ship to fire. Might be awful, but more options can't hurt.
Don't give up on IU. The first hour or two are kinda slow, but it gets much better after that. It's my second favorite JRPG on the 360 after Lost Odyssey.
I definitely won't. :) Being the huge tri-Ace fan that I am, I've been looking forward to this game since it was first announced. I'm up to Castle Prevant now, and I'm already enjoying it much more than the intro sequences, now that it's in the normal town/dungeon flow.
In other gaming, I'm at Cinnabar Island on the Red board in Pokemon Pinball on my Game Boy Advance SP. Hopefully I'll catch some new Pokemon in that game, but so far I still got nothing new to mention. I had to save that game since I was running out of battery power, and it's charging as I type, heh.

I'm now up to 143 Pokemon caught (and encountered) in Pokemon Pinball on my Game Boy Advance SP. The aforementioned game I was in the middle of on the Red board went pretty well, but my games aren't proving very fruitful at this point. Gone are the huge jumps I was making previously. Now every new Pokemon is a victory since the few I have left are all rare and don't show up often. It's frustrating because every time you start a new game the encounter rates are randomly seeded, so I'll encounter the same couple Pokemon in a place over and over while the others just don't want to show up. I was trying to catch Arcticuno, which is the only Pokemon I still need from Seafoam Islands, and I caught a boatload of Pokemon in the place - 3 or 4 Staryu, a couple Seel, Horsea, and more. Eventually I accidentally performed a map move out of there. :/ I did manage to get Snorlax on Cycling Road after goodness knows how may Doduo and what have you, and he was the only new Pokemon I caught in that game despite a whopping 40+ number of catches. It's amazing how much my practice has been paying off. I'm really getting a good feel for the quirks, tricks, and the feel of the ball's movement. My high scores are really ratcheting up. In the game from my last post, I finally hit double digits on Red with a score of 11-some billion, and then I smashed that in the Snorlax game with a score of 23-some billion. At school, I was too tired to stay alive on the Red board, so I decided to do a Blue game. I only got 6-some billion points, but I had a good run finally catching Venonat, evolving him to Venomoth, catching Kangaskhan, but, best of all, I got Mew! I was just trying to encounter Mewtwo like always, but since I had beaten the Mewtwo bonus game two times over, Mew amazingly showed up. Talk about luck. I didn't officially "catch" him because you can hit him tons of times and it won't spell "Catch" like all the other Pokemon. There seems to be a lot of mixed information out there. Some people say it's possible to officially catch him if you hit him dozens of times, other people say they've bounced the ball on his head for nearly all two minutes, hitting him probably a hundred times with nothing happening. Many people say the only way to get him on the list is stay alive and simply let him run away, which I did, and this causes him to appear on the Pokedex - color picture and information and all. I've heard some people say this is a glitch, but I don't know if it works with any other Pokemon than Mew. While I don't want to "cheat" and will catch everything else officially either way, I'll let someone else figure out this mystery with save states. It's WAY too much of a pain to try on a real cart.
I haven't been able to play Infinite Undiscovery on Xbox 360 in a few days now. I had to give back the system for the time being. I really should look into getting my own 360, but with the way the economy is going, I feel like I should be holding onto as much of my money as I can. Anyway, I left off in Sapran after breaking the chain.
I also played some oddball stuff with friends. I played some StarTropics for NES via emulation, and got up to the part in chapter 3 in which I have to find the fortune teller's crystal ball before I quit. For the most part, I played legit, but I did use save states before the parts with disappearing blocks because having to do parts over and over because of falling in water and instantly dying sucks. The dungeon I left off in is stupid too with all the trick rooms that force you to start over if you have the bad luck of entering them. I've done everything legit on an NES just a few years ago anyway. :P
Another friend was checking out the advertisements in the case for a GameCube game my boyfriend was playing, which led to talking about Odama, which in turn led to playing Odama, haha. We took turns losing over and over and over, hehe. He was doing better than me. I was such an idiot that I didn't even remember to hold X to speak for half of the time. I just thought there was too much background noise or something.
I also got in a box of cheap imports, and after nearly a year, I finally got something to play on my Wonderswan. :) Unfortunately, I couldn't make heads or tails out of what was going on in Mobile Suit Gundam MSVS. I'm not even a Gundam fan. Oh well, fun to get started with the system nonetheless.
And while I didn't really "play" it, I popped the Pokemon Trading Card Game into my Game Boy Color and the old-style Game Boy Advance. A friend wanted me to give it a cleaning to try to make it work, but the problem is more serious than that. It starts up okay, with no graphical glitches, but the menu screen shows up as a solid grey screen. After fumbling around in it, I guess I started a game, as a character portrait shows up with a text box, but no text appears and then the game crashes. Something about the game must've been corrupted, but I don't know what. I opened it up, and the board looks relatively okay. I thought maybe it was a reaction to a dead battery, but it seems unlikely. If it was a disc, I'd assume a portion of the data was scratched off, but I've always believed that carts were usually all or nothing. Maybe a pin non-essential to starting up is too worn down to make contact?

I had an absolutely great run on the Blue board in Pokemon Pinball on my Game Boy Advance SP last night. I was left with pretty much nothing but rare Pokemon left to catch, but within that one game, I got everything I was missing from Cinnabar Island (Aerodactyl, Magmar, Grimer, Muk), and then I got Mewtwo! Whoo, just two more to go until I've fulfilled the command to "gotta catch 'em all!" :) I also caught Articuno on the Red board finally, so now I can focus purely on Blue as the two left are both in Saffron City (Hitmonchan and Lapras). I also got a new high on Blue with a score of 11-some billion, but that doesn't compare to my Red high, of course.
I also tried out more of my new imports. I played some Emerald Dragon for Super Famicom, which seems like a pretty decent fast-paced RPG, even if it's supposedly the worst version of the game (I wouldn't know myself). Nice to finally give this classic, unknown to the West, a try.
I also played two strategy RPGs for PlayStation - Tear Ring Saga and Volfoss. Tear Ring Saga is pretty dang awesome, and I can totally see why Nintendo sued them over it. I can't blame Shouzou Kaga, though, being the creator of Fire Emblem it seems unfair to try to tell him that he can't expand on his original ideas after leaving Nintendo. Granted, Kaga didn't have to stick it to Nintendo so much by originally calling the game "Emblem Saga" and supposedly having a lot of other blatant references. I wish I knew more about the circumstances of him leaving Nintendo. I have a feeling it wasn't just him wanting to open up his own company. I bet it has something to do with the cancellation of Fire Emblem 64 and Thracia 776 being released on essentially dead hardware. Namco's Volfoss is pretty cool too. I can see why they left it in Japan, though, as opposed to, say, the Tales games. It's a little rough around the edges, and it would definitely need some censorship, even with a Mature rating. The monster designs are REALLY out there. I just wish they had gone with sprites to better capture the designs because the 3D graphics are pretty sub-par, especially for 2001. The battle backgrounds aren't very detailed either. Oh, and I "played" Neko no Kaikata for PlayStation too, which I bought because it was a penny and has hilarious looking cats on the cover. :P It's an educational disc with no actual gaming besides some quizzes, but, man, we were dying watching the videos and listening to the sound effects. :)
