Started up Champions of Norrath (PS2) again, w/ my female dark elf Sweetcheeks. Just getting into chapter 2.

Also got back into true Swing Golf (DS), of all the golf games I've had, this is the one I like most. Fast, fair, & portable.

& my 2-yr-old boys go apesh-t for Build N Race & Tonka Rescue Patrol (GC) on the Wii. Every day it's "Car game? Car game?" I also introduced them to the Atari 2600 Sesame Street games. I dont have properly sized overlays for the keypad controllers but I've devised a clever alternative.

oh yeah, squeezed ina few games of 2600 River Raid & Haunted House last night before work too.

Finally got to play Outrun Online Arcade for the 360. When it came out, I didn't own a 360 and it was only available on the PS3 in Europe. I couldn't find somebody to game share on PSN with, either.

Anyway, it's a great old-school kick for $10. Might be stripped down from the Xbox and PS2 versions but still addictive and great fun.

The girlfriend in the game reminds me of a cross between Paris Hilton and Linda Evans. The boyfriend didn't remind me of anybody until I watched a video of OOA in action on Dailymotion (YouTube's superior alternative) by some Frenchman and he called him "Ricky Martin". Sure enough, he look like Ricky Martin.

Well, let's see:

Heretic: Above Average - has aged pretty well actually
Alien Swarm - FREE Steam release. Great game!
Klonoa: Empire of Dreams GBA - Average. Was $10 for a like-new copy, and while it was a great price by the book, it hasn't felt like $10 of entertainment. The main campaign was very short, and the bonus maps are maddening (so is 100% completion on the snowboarding / scrolling stages), and generally it doesn't feel at all like a Klonoa game. 3 out of 5 stars on Amazon.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong - ditto, actually
Half-Life 2 - just looking for all the lambda symbols (I'm maybe eight caches shy of having 100% Achievements on all the Half-Life games with them, i.e. just one more Achievement to 100% for HL2, Episode 1, and Episode 2.)

Have got to set up the supergun and the monitor and give some more of my arcade PCBs some quality time.

I really haven't played much in months since I landed a temp full-time job, but I had a friend stay over for a week, though, and a lot of gaming was going on, even if I wasn't around to participate much. I did get in on some 4-player action, with the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game and Turtles in Time both via MAME and some Mario Kart 64 on Nintendo 64. I also played through Metroid via NES emulation as everyone watched, but that was kind of a buzzkill because I got all the way up to Mother Brain and couldn't finish. I could normally beat her on the first try, but it was getting really late and I was in such a rush to take a shower and go to bed for work the next day, I kept dying. Eventually I had to hand the controller over since I really couldn't stay up any later. I did resume the save state last night just to beat it, on the first try of course, if only to see the ending without the helmet which I had never gotten before (still haven't gotten the bikini).

I did actually start a game a couple weeks ago to try to play when I have the time. The game? Castlevania: Lament of Innocence for PlayStation 2 because I'm a glutton for punishment. Here's the deal, I landed an amazing deal on the huge Castlevania music box set that came out a few months ago. The MSRP is 21000 yen, so most people paid 250-300 dollars for it. However, Amazon Japan recently put it on sale for over 60% off, making it only $100 shipped to the US. Given the fact that it's not a perfect set and is missing some music from the series, I wasn't about to pay the full price, but I was definitely willing at that sale price. So in turn getting that made me want to tackle more of the Castlevania games that I've yet to beat. Now, see, I don't care for what Igarashi has done to the series at all, and the most modern Castlevania I've beaten is Circle of the Moon. But I feel like sooner or later I need to play through these games just because they're Castlevania, given how big of a fan I am of the series. I'm hoping I can at least enjoy some nice Yamane music with Lament of Innocence (I'm holding off listening to the soundtracks in the music set that I've yet to hear in-game because I don't want to "spoil" the music, especially if it might be the sole saving grace of said games). So yeah, I'm not expecting great things out of Lament of Innocence, and with what little I've played, my expectations are being met. I don't care for the feel of the controls at all, it's really freakin' repetitive, and I just keep thinking "I wish I was playing Legacy of Darkness instead". Oh well, such is the price of being a big fan of a series. :P

I'm about 30% through Castlevania: Lament of Innocence on PlayStation 2, having acquired the blue orb and starting up a second area. I don't dread playing it or anything, but it has been pretty boring. Seems pretty chintzy on the items too. There isn't much in the shop, at least at this point, and had I not bought its one and only armor, I'd still be running around bare.

I'm over 50% done with Castlevania: Lament of Innocence on PlayStation 2 now. I cleared both the lab and the garden. One thing I appreciate about the game is that the bosses are actually fairly challenging, and even normal enemies can put up a decent fight sometimes. Granted, if I maxed out my supply of potions, everything would probably be easy, but I try to not use up too many (and I haven't bought any yet, so I'm just using what I find). I got quite a few Game Overs on the rock monster and Medusa. That's way more than I can say about any of the SotN-style games. I kinda like that this game doesn't bother with levels and is sparse with the HP max-up items. The real-time menu is really annoying me, though. For all the complaining I did about Infinite Undiscovery, it at least accomplished what it aimed to do with the menu. Lament of Innocence is just idiotic about it. Why have two menus that both list everything when you can't even do anything with the items in one of them? If they wanted to force the player to use healing items on the fly, then just have the player equip a usable item and use it during the action after exiting the menu.

I'm over 80% done with Castlevania: Lament of Innocence on PlayStation 2, with the first five areas cleared. I'm finally making some headway with the secret parts of those stages too and actually getting a decent assortment of items at last. I killed both the fire and ice elementals, getting said elements for the whip, and I completed the waterfalls map 100%. I used the black key, and now I have the blue key in my possession. There are still plenty of spots where I have no idea what to do, though, so hopefully I'll figure that stuff out as I pick up more items.

Dangit, the secret areas I could access in Castlevania: Lament of Innocence on PlayStation 2 didn't lead to much, so now I'm at a standstill again in terms of filling in the rest of those maps. Instead, I decided to head into the pagoda, hoping I'll get something in there that might help. The only problem is that the area is really kicking my butt. I'm sure the next available armor would help, but for once in this game, I don't have enough cash. As it is, the pagoda is wearing a little thin on me since I've yet to find a save point inside of it, which is resulting in me having to complete it piece by piece, warping to Rinaldo whenever I'm close to death, and having to retread the first floor. In a game this repetitive, that sure ain't helping.

Yea, I loved The Saboteur. Very underrated game. I also picked it up for $20 but I would have happily paid $60 for it. I think my local Wal-Mart has Red Faction Guerrilla for $10-15, I might pick it up the next time I go.

Lately, I've been playing the Kane & Lynch 2 demo (pre-ordered the game today) and I was playing through the first Splinter Cell again. I had started Resident Evil 5 a few weeks ago but I'm not liking it that much. I think I got to chapter two before putting it aside.

I'm up to 88% completion of Castlevania: Lament of Innocence for PlayStation 2, with nearly 10 hours on the clock. It feels like it's been much longer than that, but at the same time, it's also felt short in that there are so few areas. I made some more progress in accessing secret parts of the five main areas, but map completion on any of them but the waterfalls is still eluding me. I don't know why that particular area was so easy to complete (once I figured out to let the enemy bash that one stone wall, at least) while the others are so tricky. I found and defeated the lightning elemental with a little help from kupomogli (he gave me a hint which I didn't read beyond part of the first sentence, but just seeing the name of the area and the rooms that I already knew about got me thinking about them and voila). However, I still haven't figured out how to get to the part of the garden where there's a door in the same room with the door to the tower. Then I did some stuff in the lab, church, and theater, but in every place there must be one tiny thing I'm missing. Even though I told him not to tell me, my boyfriend was a stinker and figured out and told me how to reach a ledge in the church, but I am proud of myself for finding the spinning bookcase and the ledge in the theater's spike room by noting the rough symmetry of the stages. I gotta give it to the game, some of the secrets demand the player to either scour the stages or be really smart. Not that I necessarily want much puzzle-solving when I play Castlevania, but at least they're genuinely puzzling secrets.

I still haven't finished off Castlevania: Lament of Innocence on PlayStation 2, although I kinda wish I was and have been playing sporadically as a result. Trying to find the secrets was really wearing thin on me. I figured out some more on my own, but in the end I looked up a couple things. I'm kinda mad at myself for looking something up that I would've found on my own (in fact I already was thinking of the place having a secret), but I was too lazy to backtrack a massive amount for a potentially fruitless search. But anyway, I completed the five main areas. I think I got all of their items too except for a HP max up I still need to locate. So now I have about 99% of the entire game done, and I've been working on completing the encyclopedia by getting item drops. As repetitive as that is, it still feels more rewarding than the secrets hunt.

Still playing Castlevania: Lament of Innocence on PlayStation 2 since I'm basically just playing it a little each weekend lately. I'm still collecting item drops. From my last count, I believe I had 24 left to go, with about half those being common drops, so hopefully I'll finish soon, maybe this weekend.

Other than that, I've tried out some recent acquisitions. I noticed that Nippon Ichi's store had the the Sakura Wars: So Long My Love Unforgettable Memories set available for PS2 again, so I grabbed that, even with my reluctance to spend around $20 just for the hardcover art book (given NISA's ridiculous shipping costs). I also bought some imports. I got Super Robot Taisen Compact 2: Episode 2 and Sennou Millennium for Wonderswan. Nothing terribly exciting, but I only had one WS game prior to these. But those were just additions to what I really wanted to buy - Little Princess for PlayStation, which is the sequel to Rhapsody. I have a soft spot for that game, and about a month ago I stumbled across this great art book related to the first two games of the series. I'm a big fan of that artist's unique, full-figured style. Beats the anorexic lolitas of the Disgaea games and other NIS stuff. Anyway, it inspired me to pick up Little Princess. The game seems really nice, but I'm going to hold off on playing through it until I replay Rhapsody sometime. Considering that Rhapsody only takes maybe 14 hours tops, that should be no sweat, although I'll have to decide if I want to play through the original again or buy the DS version. I'll probably do the former, but then I'll have decide if I want to pick Japanese like the first time or if I want crappy English dubbing for my second time. And once I'm done with that, I'll have to figure out my approach for Little Princess since it seems to have compatibility issues with the PS2. I had it freeze twice while trying it out. I could just deal with it, or I could try to use my modded launch PS1 and hope it doesn't overheat and fry itself.

I got all but one drop acquired in Castlevania: Lament of Innocence on PlayStation 2 now. Unfortunately, the one I'm missing still is the Invincibility Jar, and I know that one is going to be a mega pain. Hopefully it won't be nearly as bad as the Assassin Necklace was for me. I had to kill over 350 of that irritating Evil Stabber enemy before one appeared.

Since I had my Japanese PS2 hooked up to play Little Princess prior, I popped in TwinBee Taisen Puzzle Dama and played through the game with Apple. It always makes for a nice no-commitment cheerful gaming experience.

If I can finish Star Ocean the Last Hope then I'll go back and give Star Ocean Till the End of Time another chance. I atleast enjoyed that one more than this one but quit after getting past midway through the second planet(fairly early, yeah.)

Added to my list of "Now Playing" is Ghost Busters on the Wii. Fun game. Seems short though... 10% completed in 25 minutes is very quick IMO.

I'm actually playing Doom, Super bomberman (wonderful!!!!), super mario world, super metroid at the moment. I never remembered how wonderful doom was... i used to play it through dosbox, but genesis version is better, for the controls of course. (and save states :D)

I finally beat Castlevania: Lament of Innocence on PlayStation 2, with just over 20 hours on the clock, so I probably played more doing the extra stuff than I would've spent simply clearing the game. It felt even longer than that, though, since I stretched it out for close to two months. I'm sure I would've beaten it much faster if I was enjoying it more, since there were times when I wasn't particularly eager to play. It's not a completely horrible game, though. It plays competently, and I got some level of fun out of it. It's definitely better than some of the other Castlevania games like Castlevania Legends and Haunted Castle (although I probably got more fun out of the latter, even if it is such a sloppy mess of a game). I'm not aiming to play any of the extra modes any time soon, so to the shelf it goes. Now to decide my next game. :)

Haven't posted anything in here in months, but recently I've been playing:

Sin & Punishment 2 - Wii
Didn't like it, only halfway through. Don't understand the hype. The system is quite nice I guess. The game is far far far too long.

Mushihime-sama Futari Black Label - Xbox 360
Since I picked up a Hori Real Arcade Pro Mushihime-sama Futari arcade stick been back on this. Its a great stick, Seimitsu stick which is perfect, much prefer it to the Sanwa stick in the SF4 arcade sticks, but only has Hori buttons, but they don't matter much for shooters. Also decided to TATE my LCD which makes the game much bigger and easier to play. I'm really close to the 1CC now. On Original, I can get halfway through the final boss with Reco and with Palm I've got to stage 5. I prefer Palm though. My downfall is always stage 3, the 2nd half is the hardest bit in the game and with Reco I don't know how to defeat the boss.

DoDonPachi Ressurection - iPhone
Its a shame this came out 3 months before the Xbox 360 port. Would love to play it with my stick on a big screen. As it is, its far too easy on this mode. 1CC-ed arcade mode on Hard on my 2nd attempt. A great game though and I think I've sussed out the system, which I didn't do in the arcade. Looking forward to the Xbox port and will try not to play it too much until then.

Installed a PS1 emulator on the new computer (what else do people use a PC for anyways?), so I fired up the following titles:

Gradius Gaiden
Tobal 2 English patched
Harmful Park

Good stuff!

Oh, just noticed that I'm in the 1000-post club! Am I supposed to feel something?

Double Dragon II (PCE) - this game has some weird physics going on.
Gradius II (PCE) - those 'gofers' are still stickin' the business to me!

NES:
Rad Racer

I tried it out with the official 3-D glasses, and... well, the best thing that came out of the experience is that I can now say that I've played Rad Racer with the official 3-D glasses.

Most definitely one of those games that I wish would have played a long time ago. I just got it. It's so great!

Battlefield Bad Company 2 - just had a lan party with 5 other friends on PS3's. It was a blast.

Also tried out Brutal Legend, which is true to the name - the game is brutal (not in a good way). It's like they couldn't figure out what game to make, and just threw a bunch of random stuff together to make some sort of metal-ish type game with Jack Black.

Also working on Sakura Wars, So Long My Love on the PS2. Great game! I'm liking the story so far, and the anime women are not bad to look at! :)

Just finished Castlevania - Dawn of Sorrows. Fun game - took about 23 hours to finish with the 'real' ending. The thing I don't get is why they throw in these false endings at different points. Can't they just have one f'n ending in the game, and call it a day?
