I finished Wild Arms yesterday, and now Iam on to Wild Arms 2. Still playing Contra 4, and just started playing Star Trek: Tactical Assult (DS). It's actually a pretty good game, better then all the below average reviews it was given.

I've been playing many different games lately so here goes...

Guitar Hero III (X-Box 360)-I played this over at my cousin's house, who got it for Christmas along with his 360. It was my first time playing Guitar Hero and it was fun, not enough to get me to buy it though! It was fun playing on his giant screen HDTV that I'm not used to.

Contra 4 (DS)-Got this for X-Mas and I love it! On my second run through, I beat it on Easy and unlocked Challenge Mode and the subsequent original Contra. Good game but pretty frustrating, in a good way!

Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles (PSP)-Got this with some X-Mas cash and I love it. I'm up to Level 6 and have already unlocked SOTN. I think I'm playing the latter more, even though I own the PSX version and have beaten it before. Both games are great.

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (GBA)-Started over again and have beaten a few bosses. I'm not too far in, my old file was at around 90% though.

Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (DS)-I'm at around 998% and can't beat Dracula yet at around level 80. I'm having fun just collecting items and finishing the enemy list and item list. I've killed around 7000 Red Skeletons so far in my quest to max out the number of kills for every enemy! Yes, I have no life when school is not in session.

I've been REALLY cracked out on Beautiful Katamari, lately.

I'm soooooooooooooo close to having a 100% collection. And I've been trying to unlock Eternal mode on the stage where you make a sun. That's the only stage I can't break 70 points.

Another PS2 day:

Ghosthunter - returned to a saved game from 9/15/05, and got pretty far but I started to lose lots of health and the game began to get monotonous again
Resident Evil: Dead Aim - played a controller and trackball control scheme, but it makes the shooting part too easy...
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core - set a new high score with Sol Badguy on arcade mode...
Cold Winter - I played until I figured out that I needed 2610 KB to save so I stopped...

My eyes are starting to hurt, so I need a break...

My gaming since my last post is a bit of a blur from being sick this past week, but I think before that I played a bit more Bubble Bobble via Bubble Bobble also featuring Rainbow Islands on PlayStation. When I was stuck in bed I played Astonishia Story R for GP32 as well as a tiny bit of Heiankyo Alien on my Game Boy Advance SP (still trying to get farther in the Old version). Once I was feeling well enough to get out of bed, I played some of Taito Legends 2, a Christmas present from my boyfriend, on PlayStation 2. Mainly I've just been playing Cameltry, which is the main reason I wanted it, and I already completed everything in it. I'm surprised to learn just how much better the Super Nintendo version actually is. I figured it would be the other way around. I tried out a ton of other games in the collection too, but none are quite as fun as Cameltry. :)

Bust-a-Move DS

NES:
R.C. Pro-AM
Adventure Island
Tetris

I had my best game of R.C. Pro-AM ever today, scoring 155845 points and not finishing in last place until level 18 (I also had the third car). Using both continues, I managed to get to level 22, which is the furthest track I've reached in the game.

Adventure Island got the bulk of my gaming time today. I made it to 7-3 before giving up.

More PS2 lately:

Bunjugai: The Forsaken City - one of those obscure Onimusha/Devil May Cry style games, pretty good so far but I can't destroy the 8 runes that will open the next gate
Neo-Geo Battle Coliseum - not getting tired of this one yet
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core - the most refined game in this series, IMO
King of Fighters XI - not getting tired of this one either
Kingdom Hearts - it took me an hour to find the hut with the cloth, then I was waiting for the game to get better, it never did.

I played some of Captain Silver for SMS the other day. I remember liking that game before... but I don't like it now. It's way too hard and it seems really cheap at times. Normally I like challenging games (see below), but Captain Silver is just irritating and sucky.

I also played Fatal Rewind for Genesis. I love this game, even though I've never beat it. The difficulty really ramps up, but it's always fair.

Last night, I played more PS2:

Bombastic - Even though I already own a few copies of this game, I picked up another one at Gamestop for $3.99 and kept trying to beat my original high score. I never did, even though I did set a new record for 19th place.
Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles - I got stuck on the mission where the enemy ninjas try to damage Naruto's cart full of goods.
Under the Skin - A weird little game for $6. I can't figure out how to do well at the game because it has something to do with playing pranks and pretending to be a human instead of an alien. I want to hold out until the inevitable cameo appearance by Jill Valentine and the Nemesis but I don't know how long that will take...

Well, I'm back from MAGFest, and I actually didn't do that much gaming since I was so busy with everything else. I pulled out the Game Boy Advance SP during the train rides and played the same old stuff: the Old version of Heiankyo Alien and Atari Anniversary Advance. Actually, on the way home, I beat my old top score in Centipede. On two different attempts I got over 40,000 points. I think the one that was 41,000-something was the best I've ever done. There were a bunch of arcade cabinets at the convention, and when I had a tiny bit of free time to kill, I played a few. There was a Centipede cabinet there too, which totally rocked. I played it just before it was unplugged on Sunday, and I was trying to get on the high score list but I came just a tiny bit short. I'm so accustomed to playing with the stretched out screen and D-pad on GBA that it's a little weird to play on a legitimate cabinet. If I had gotten my new top score on the cabinet, I would've placed, though. Actually, I think I might've gotten the top score or at least pretty darn close. I also played some Track & Field with my brother-in-law, some Q*bert (for the first time ever, believe it or not), and the Bride of Pinbot pinball machine (I thought the ball seemed a little too heavy, but I'm no pinball expert).

Oh, and before I left I played some more Taito Legends 2 on PlayStation 2. I beat all of the Cameltry levels, so now I need to crack into the DS game I just got. I guess the Cameltry bug has really bit again. :P

The shift on the Pole Position cabinet was acting up and sticking (as in not shifting out of low gear) last week so I finally got around to opening up the control panel and working on it. The shift plunger was gummed up so I cleaned it out and while the panel was down (PP's need to be unbolted from within, there aren't any CP clips) I also lubricated the steering wheel gears and gave the controls their quarterly tuneup. After that there was plenty of Pole Position, Pole Position II, and Konami GT.

Tonight was much of the same except Pole Position only. I got so damn close to the elusive 60k tonight... :bad-words:

http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/DP-PolePosition002.jpg

180 points short, that means completing the race one second faster would have given me 60020. I had to lift off just a bit on the last turn of the last lap to tuck in behind some traffic. There's a chance that if I had cut inside hard and stayed on the accelerator I may have been able to get around the back car and squeezed in between him and the car in front. Better chance I would have clipped one of the drone cars though. LOL Oh well.

I've probably played more today than I have in a LONG time, but even then it was only a few hours tops. Yesterday I finally cracked into my copy of Star Ocean 1: First Departure on my brand new PSP, which I received right before I had to leave for MAGFest. So far I'm really loving the game. It feels very familiar since I've already put well over a hundred hours into the Super Famicom original, but it also feels like I'm playing a brand new game since it's been changed so much. There are a few things here and there that irk me (mostly cosmetic), but overall I think this very much has made my PSP purchase worthwhile. I'm also really loving the PSP I got. I picked up the limited "Eternal edition" bundle, which was a little pricier than had I just imported the game and bought a US PSP, but this "Felicia Blue" color with the Star Ocean design on the back is way, WAY cooler than anything available in the US. Poo on black, white, and silver. It also came with a super shiny Star Ocean pouch that's very soft on the inside and protects my PSP quite nicely. Since opening the package up, I also tried out some games on Capcom Classics Collection Remixed, but I've yet to touch any of the other PSP games I've picked up over the last few months. All in due time.

Other than that, I'm still playing Centipede now and then via Atari Anniversary Advance on my Game Boy Advance SP, but I haven't been able to do as well as I was on the train ride home from MAGFest.

I finally got some time to enjoy more of my Christmas presents too. I turned on the Genesis for the first time in quite awhile to play Shadowrun, Shining in the Darkness, Asterix and the Great Rescue, and ToeJam & Earl. All good fun, but I really need to wrangle in a partner for TJ&E. :)

I just played my first game of Backyard Baseball for the GameCube which arrived today. I played a 6-inning game as the Pirates and we won 7-0. Randy Johnson was my pitcher and he struck out 10. I found it interesting that I had a mix of known and fictional players (including girls) and a few of the real players (as kids) were playing positions other than what we know them for. Pedro Martinez was a position player (I forget which) and Sammy Sosa was my 1B...I think I had Derek Jeter as an outfielder. Errors were plenty...I think the other team made 6. My only gripe is that there is loading time between each half-inning but it isn't that long...maybe about 15 seconds or so. But overall, I like the game.
