More imports in the backlog and I'm slowly getting around to them.

Kaido Battle 2 (PS2) - This is one of those tuner automobile games. I'm not really a fan of games like Tokyo Battle, and I don't know if this is from the same series or not, but it's hard as heck to fix up a car when the menus are in Japanese. Beautiful car models for a PS2 game, though.

Homura (PS2) - This is one fine shmup. However, it has taken me 3 tries to even get a high score on the board, and I only ranked #25. It reminds me a lot of Castle Shikigami 2 for some reason...

Recently I've been playing C&C: Tiberian Sun. Great game, I really enjoy the plot and all. Maybe the user interface is a bit chunky if one views it with modern standards, but yeah, great game.
And I certainly don't play this for the cutscenes, since they aren't that great. ;)

Since I'm bored and broke (ironically from buying too many games), I deemed this afternoon as my fighting game afternoon. Everything was played on my Japanese PS2, the latter 3 with the Nuby Street Fighter pad.

Garouden: Breakblow - An interesting little 3D fighter that reminds me a lot of the Tekken series because the controls are pretty simple to learn. I'm pretty sure this is based on an anime of some sort.

Garou: Mark of the Wolves - I've got this game on Dreamcast, but it's in an unmarked box in my storage, so this one had to do. As always, I can't get past The Griffin. He's like SNK's Zangief and gets me with that move where he scoops you up and then slams you to the mat.

Vampire Chronicles: Darkstalkers Collection - I did quick tries of Vampire Hunter 2 and Vampire Savior 2. BB Hood (aka Bulleta) is much more fun to use in Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

Last Blade 1&2 - I remember I bought this game because once I passed up a brand new copy of the Dreamcast version for $10 because it didn't look interesting. How wrong I was. I enjoyed using Kaede in Last Blade and will use him again when I finally try Last Blade 2.

More Japanese PS2 goodness:

Last Blade 1&2 - I finally tried Last Blade 2 and found it to be way too challenging, although the graphics were slightly better than Last Blade. I think I'll stick with the original game.

Sega Rally disc in the Sega Rally 2006 set - I'm pretty sure this is a port of the arcade version because it isn't as blocky as the Saturn version. It moves along at a nice clip. I ranked number 6 on my second run-through.

Street Fighter Zero: Fighter's Generation - I played Street Fighter Alpha 2, the sequel and Pocket Fighter. I used Ryu and Ken. Perhaps the most fun of all the games I played today.

Progressing through the story quite rapidly. I like the way each character has their own story that gets revealed in different chapters.

Daytona USA 2001 - Dreamcast
This arrives so I gave it a go and the controls are terrible. I hear by altering the settings you can make this playable but I couldn't stand it so played

Daytona USA - Saturn
And got 1st place on the last track! And hence unlocked the horse, which was a lot of fun.

OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast - PS2
I needed my faith restoring that Sega could create a great modern arcade racer after that horrible Dreamcast Daytona so here we are. Its still fantastic and I finished the Outrun 2 15-stage special before unlocking the Outrun2SP 15-stage special and failing at it. The next day however, my save file is corrupted :(
Now I don't know what to do. This was the first game I ever played on my PS2 and i love it and don't want to start again. However, I could use the cheat code to unlock the PSP specific features although that code unlocks everything and its fun unlocking things as you go.

Geometry Wars Galaxies - Wii
I'm really getting through the levels now, one or two more sessions and everything will be available. I still can't even get a bronze medal on that damn Surtris level though.

Mr. Driller - Dreamcast

I'm pretty near the end now, as everyone's stories seem to be coming together.

The Last Blade 2 - Dreamcast
Tried out 2 characters, didn't enjoy it much. Maybe its because I'm using my stick for the first time on a fighter and I'm not used to it and also the game won't let me configure the stick to use the C or Z buttons, annoying.

Street Fighter Zero 2 Dash - Saturn
This was much more enjoyable. The Saturn pad is great with its 6 buttons and nice d-pad. This is the only SF Alpha game I've played and only the 2nd time I've ever played it. The graphics are really nice and its great seeing familiar stages from SF2 and Final Fight. So first I played through as Ryu, who was the same as ever, then Sakura, who was much more fun, and finally Dan. Maybe next time I'll try some non-Ryu derivatives.

Super Street Fighter II X: Grand Master Challenge - Saturn
Didn't realise the Japanese version was named differently before. I have all the SF2 games on the Saturn so no idea why I started with the last. Its clear it was made for an older system than SFZ2' and I didn't play much.

Arkanoid DS
This game is seriously rubbish/boring. I hate the branching pathways. Means that I played it for the whole of my train ride and got by the time I got to some levels I hadn't played before it was my station...

Tetris S - Saturn
This arrived today so gave it a go. The controls seem unresponsive, I tried a couple of different types of controller out as well. Also, it doesn't have infinite spin but you can move/spin it a bit sometimes afterwards. I'm not fully sure the level at which this works but has caused me problems. But its still Tetris so its still good.

Daytona USA Circuit Edition - Saturn
Oh dear, the controls are terrible - even on digital instead of analogue. The game is playable though just not fun. The main problem is that you seem to be moving along at 2 miles an hour even though the timings are the same as the original Saturn version. The sound is worse than the original too, even with the original soundtracks switched on. The 2 new tracks are good additions and have great moving things in the background - like a train and a rollercoaster.

Daytona USA 2001 - Dreamcast
Now this seems a bit better - after setting the handling options a lot. Still nowhere near as good as the original Saturn version though. The 2 tracks from CCE are lacking the good background features which is dissapointing. There are 3 new tracks which are quite plain but I can see myself playing this in future as a bad circuit racer.

Mr. Driller - Dreamcast
I sucked. Badly.

Street Fighter Zero 2 Dash - Saturn
Completed as Evil Ryu. Discovered the "original combos" thing which i'm not sure I liked but used a lot when I played as Vega as I can't pull off his style of special moves very well. Tried out Guy and didn't like him, then completed as Shin Gouki - and got to a mid-boss for the first time and after the credits you get a picture of Sakura and a congratulations sign. Also tried out "Gouki mode", which was hard.

I got down with some import Dreamcast games on Wednesday night.

Frame Gride - Not bad. You can tell this mech game is made by From Software, the makers of Armored Core, but the mechs move more like Virtual-On. I wish I could read Japanese so I could customize my mech, but I was able to change its colors.

Giant Gram 2000 - I got my butt kicked quick. I played as Wolf from Virtua Fighter, but since I can't read Japanese and couldn't figure out the controls, I got stomped.

Net versus Reversi - I bought this game because it is English-friendly. However, it may have been playable only on servers because I haven't been able to figure out how to play a single player game.

Soul Calibur - It's the same game as the U.S. version, but I didn't bother putting in a VMU while I tried it out because I unlocked everything in the U.S. version ages ago.

I had to put Star Ocean 1: First Departure on hold for awhile since I've been so extremely busy. Last time I powered on my PSP, I left off right at the entrance of the tiny town of Dulus.

I have, however, been doing some other gaming. I played a tiny bit of Boxxle on my Game Boy Advance SP, but I wasn't able to beat another stage. I've also started up Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon on N64. I've put several hours into it, and I just finished the third castle. I'm enjoying the game a lot, but it pales in comparison to the amazing sequel Goemon's Great Adventure. The last castle, in particular, annoyed me. The game's frame rate and camera both struggle a lot, and it was really apparent there. Usually the rooms of a castle are relatively small compared to the size of a section of a town or the overworld, so they thankfully have the smoothest movement. The third castle I just completed had some large rooms, though, and the frame rate was chugging hard. My boyfriend came in the room and watched for a few seconds, and it instantly gave him a headache. It was bothering me a little too. And, ugh, that camera angle for the boss fight. I had to reflect projectiles back into the boss to damage it, not unlike fighting Ganondorf in Zelda 64, but it was such an awkward angle that it was practically impossible to accurately line myself up to hit them back. It was coming down to pure luck if I ate the hits or successfully bounced them back. The game is pretty easy, though, so at least I didn't have to worry about losing.

Street Fighter Alpha Anthology - PS2
I've been playing Zero 2 Dash on the Saturn recently and bought this as an excuse to buy the lovely NeoGeo Pad 2 I've wanted for ages :)
So, I completed Alpha with Ryu and Sodom, and got annoyed at the lack of included movelists as I tried using the Zero 2 Dash one from the Saturn and some characters were quite different so switched to Alpha 2 and the moves were correct but it defaulted to Turbo 2 speed which was far too fast for me.
