ff7, torrented, its mehhhhhh pretty overrated but meh. Not liking the save system. Or when theres a timer and if you pause it the timer still goes. Reminds me of Ghostbusters 2 and AVGN...

"Hey wanna hang out?"

"NAW MAN CANT GOTTA WAIT 30 MINUTES BEFORE I FIND ANOTHER SAVE LOCATION"

You're still in Midgar then right? After you get out of Midgar you actually get to save on the world map.

FF7 is extremely overrated but it's a solid game. The storyline while in Midgar is excellent, though it declines to just being good after leaving Midgar, and the gameplay with the materia system is good but not as awesome as everyone makes it out to be.

When I first played the game I could sit there playing games much longer than I could now. I played about 12 hours straight the very first time I played it. Playing it years later, my cousin was on disc one wanted me to show him how to get past some part, I don't remember, but I think he was near the end of the first disc because it was the same day I played his character to disc three. I saved on a different character but he never played the game after that, though he was never into games as much as I was anyways.

I beat Monster World IV via the Monster World Complete Collection on PlayStation 2, and for the first time in awhile, I got that melancholic, almost sad, feeling that's a sure sign that I've just finished something special. It's not a matter of wanting the game to last longer, which is a sentiment that I can't relate to since I have no aversion to games being short and sweet, but in the short amount time it took to complete the game, I really ended up being enchanted by its magical world and the immensely charming duo of Arsha and Pepelogoo. Even the NPCs exude so much personality and now have a fond place in my heart. As much as it makes me seem like a sissy, I actually got a tiny bit choked up by the ending. Both by the events that took place but also by the dialogue spoken directly to the player in which the genie says that it's the end of the Monster World saga. There's something very sweet and touching about how the genie says "we'll see each other again in our dreams" and now it's time to "go outside and play". I really couldn't ask for a finer swan song for the franchise. I'm still not positive if I'd rank it as my very favorite in the series, but just about the only complaint I have with it is that I felt too "trapped" at times, what with all the one-way doors and such (although the genie can always be used to go back to town and start a dungeon from scratch) and that old places aren't accessible. But the guides I was checking were incorrect about the Legendary Sword and Shield; I didn't need all of the life drops to have the ability to buy them. All I needed to do was progress a ways into the final dungeon and the salesman reappeared in town. Oh, and what a fantastic final dungeon that was. It's layout was pretty plain, just focusing on fighting enemies room after room, but I loved that it encompassed just about all of the enemies in the game. I love when games sum up the entire experience of playing the game at the end (like the ending in StarTropics). But, anyway, if Monster World IV doesn't beat out the others, it's gotta at least tie at the top because it's surely one of the franchise's finest moments, regardless of it going light on the exploring.

I got the bug again. That crazy, weird longing for pain and misery that only ends in defeat - or rarely the pure exhilaration of doing the near impossible. I got into another harder-than-hard-as-hell game: Tower of Druaga.

Playing the famicom version portably via my GBA SP. Doing it "Until We Win" style: no save states, no continues. Just start from floor one every time and get as far as you can. So far I can reliably get all the (good) treasures and make it to... floor 9.

9 of 60. This'll be a long battle.

You should buy the Mega Man Anniversary Collection (PS2, NOT GameCube - controls feel awkward), as it includes Mega Man 1 to Mega Man 8. However, I felt the emulation was not the best as some colors were washed out or something. Mega Man X Collection (PS2 or GameCube) are both excellent.

Best games in both series (i.e. the "consensus") are Mega Man 2 and 3 on NES and the first Mega Man X game on the SNES.

Ok thank you, I'll look out for the Mega Man Anniversary Collection, at least this way it should be way cheaper compared to getting individual carts from eBay. :) And later on getting the carts if I can find a good deal.

It was an awesome old-school platformer day on Sunday!

Aero The Acrobat (SNES) - I've always loved this game since I first played it as a teen! The cool level designs and great music (on the SNES, anyways) hooked me like crack!

Aero The Acrobat 2 (SNES) - First time ever playing this! I've already noticed many gameplay improvements over the first game! Will need to spend more time with this one soon.

Super Turrican 2 (SNES) - First time playing this one, too. I thought that ST1 was amazing, but this one isn't too bad either. It's just incredibly f'n hard :(

Crash 'n the Boys Street Challenge (NES) - A true classic. The ridiculous 'Swimming' portion makes me laugh my ass off every time! The computer is pure bs, though...

I've had this game for a few years and never actually played it. It's lot better than I thought an RPG with a card battle system would be(still feeling the fustration of KH Chain of Memories). VA is decent as well. I wish more RPGs had spoken dialog.

Batman Vengeance

I hate this game, with a burning passion. I liked it at first, mostly for the story and VA. However the gameplay was just terrible and died plenty of times due to wonky controls. I felt like the AVGN at the half way point in the game, trying to push through the game despite it's high difficulty. I'm definetly selling this at the local game store with the quickness.

I bought yet another Wii (my 4th) and have been playing New Super Mario Brothers Wii and Castlevania X: Rondo Of Blood as well as some Final Fantasy XIII and God Of War 3 on the PS3.

In case you want to know why I've owned 4 Wiis, first Wii (April-July 2007) was traded away at EB after the PS3 had its first price drop, second Wii (November 2007-April 2008) was sold due to monetary reasons and the 3rd (Summer 2009) was for the same reason, though it's still in my immediate family as I sold it to my brother who then gave it to my other brother's family for Xmas. Whenever there's nothing I want to play on it or buy, I sell it off.

I've been on the last chapter of Yakuza 3 and playing all day to clear other stuff. Hasn't looked like I've completed many of the sidequests though.

One thing I think is stupid though. Very Hard mode at the batting cages. Not only is everything spaced out from hard mode, you still have to get 1800 points, you don't have anything that tells you whether you're going to hit the ball or not, and they have pitches that are as low are 50mph and as high as 120mph. The worst thing about not knowing where the aiming thing is at is you have to focus on where you think the ball will go to and then if the pitch happens to come from one direction instead of the other, you're not going to be able to tell when it's coming in or really how fast its coming so you'll have to judge the initial half second you see it.

I've decided that in order to do the Very Hard mode I'm going to probably get some colored tape and focus on an area and hit the ball, if it hits a number, then I'll hit the select button, set the controller down, and then tape over the number itself, that way I'd know the tape needs to cover that number in order to hit that spot. Do that for all nine numbers and whenever a bonus shot comes up, because otherwise I honestly think it'd be impossible to get 1800 points. You have 20 balls to hit or miss, and you have to hit them in the squares that have that, hitting all nine numbers will get you only 980 points and hitting an extremely small target after all nine and you only have one chance to hit it will get you 300. You can only get 1800 by hitting 18. Atleast 1-9, the targer, then 1-8. Or 1-9, then 1-9.

*edit*

Usually don't play games this long, but from when I posted this originally to now I've been on Yakuza 3 just finishing off everything and I've still barely even scratched the surface of extras to complete. Finished a few things, played Blackjack starting at 1,000 chips and getting over 150,000(that only took an hour or so but I love playing Blackjack,) went back and traded in the chips aside from 20,000 made well over 10,000,000 yen. Went around getting drunk a few times drinking all the available stuff, went back did more tournaments since I bumped into someone who asked me to be his partner in tag team. A few other things. Yakuza 3 is amazing.

Rock 'n Roll Racing (SNES)

I ended up spending only 4 lives on two complete playthroughs (the game dumps you back at the 1st level after the ending) and racked up 1.7 million points. Not too bad; I haven't seriously played the game in 18 years or so!

Ridge Racer on the 360. Man, I love this game. I'm very good at driving Ridge games and have always played them in first person view. Oddly enough, lately I've been trying all of my racing games in third person instead, just to add a new spin to some tired old favorites. Much to my great shock, I've discovered that Ridge Racer is FAR easier played in third person! It pretty much removes the majority of the difficulty.

Just fired up my newly acquired PS2 (havent had one in years....just kept collecting a library for one) and am going to play Crimson Sea 2. Looks like a nice, mindless hack n slash/ rpg hybrid. And Koei makes kick ass looking games too.
