I also played it recently.. still have to finish this one.. too damn hard on 007 difficulty. Maybe I'll get myself an Action Replay, I just have to see the last bonus level and the cusomisation mode thing.
Ahh and yes, Wii Sports is one of the best Next-Gen titles so far, would've been easily worth full price.
Well, I hate to admitt it. But I had to use a GameShark to finish the train on 00 agent. It is the only level that i could not beat without cheating. :( But I have to say, 007 mode is highly worth the trouble. And it adds a new way to play the game. I also agree with you on Wii sports. It is actually my favorite Wii title(and we have Paper Mario/Zelda:TP). :)
Anyway, games I'm playing...
Wii Sports(Wii)
Surprised? Don't be, I can see myself enjoying this simple "pack in" game over the summer. Right now I am trying to learn to play Golf, but I am terrible at it.
Red Steel(Wii)
I've been hyped for this game since the wii was released. However I find it to be abit of a letdown. The Good: Play control, level design, swordfighting. The bad: Enemy AI, glitches, standard weapons, early PS2 quality graphics(atleast for the player models/weapons). Overall I'd give it a 6.5, RS has alot going for it. But it feels sadly rushed and very "last gen"

Baseball Stars (Neo Geo)
Super Street Fighter 2 (SNES)

Samurai Shodown 2 (Neo Geo)
The Red Star (PS2)
I'm planning on starting Odin Sphere tonight and may augment that with a little Art of Fighting Collection.

I stopped playing it by the third level..I keep getting killed and I can't figure out how to heal myself-find a medkit..
I am playing on normal and I might have to play it on easy instead.I am not going to continue this game today but I will eventually mainly because it's soo damn hard...Hard because of detection issues via hitting an enemy, hidden enemies and no med kits.
Once the enemy started throwing grenades at me from hidden areas I decided to stop playing( I keep getting killed) but I have the desire to get past this..the challenge of it..

Taito Legends 2. Man, I can't beleive how much the GameSpot reviewer slamed on this game. Yeah, all the games on the disc aren't classic but Qix, G. Darius, Darius Gaiden, RayStorm, Camel Try, Space Invaders DX, Puchi Carat, Metal Black alone are worth the $20. I'm so glad this compilation got a US release.

If you don't know already, which you may do as you named it Castle so you may not be playing it in Japanese but you can only destroy the red blocks with your secondary weapon and the white ones with your primary weapon. It took me quite a while to figure out and was immensely frustrating. Its a great boss though :)

I'm going through a huge pile of Saturn games. I'm trying to blog my through the stacks of CD's, mostly with the import titles right now.
On the import side, there's a great lightgun game called Mighty Hits, which is essentially Saturn's answer to Namco's Point Blank, but with a Western theme. It's a lot of fun and really looks great - everyone really ought to check it out, since it's almost completely unknown here in the States.
Going through all the shooters, which are really great. It'll take some time for me to sort through them, really, and see where everything fits. I could just stick with Silvergun and Garegga and Souky, but I would then miss out on all the others. Cotton Boomerang is especially grand.
And here's the best Saturn fighter you've never heard of - Anarchy in the Nippon. That's right, the actual title. According to the story, four programmers from Sega AM2 wanted to make another 3D fighter after Virtua Fighter 2, but Sega balked. So they split, started their own game studio, and created this brawler.
The title is appropriate, because it's really a punkish jab back at Sega. It's really a remix of Virtua Fighter. Most of the same kind of moves and techniques and gameplay elements, with a lot of VF3 thrown in (like the dodge button). It's also a bit faster and freer, more loose, almost like a halfway point between VF and Tekken. The characters are almost deliberately unlike any of the fighting game archetypes; it's like they grabbed a bunch of people right off the street, including a housewife who's into gymnastics, and a middle-aged salaryman who pokes people in the butt. Seriously. Four members of the design team - the AM2 defectors? - are also available as hidden characters.
Graphics are fan-effing-tastic, fast, high-resolution, sharp details and solid textures. I'd say it's the best looking 3D fighter on Saturn. I often wondered why Sega never reached the high of VF2, although Last Bronx may match it. Turns out this exodus may have been one reason. Anyway, yadda yadda.

Dungeon Magic: Sword of the Elements for the NES. Its a good game, but dang, I think the designers must've had a bet going on when they designed this, something like "Hey, I bet you can't make the most insanely hard RPG ever!" "Oh yeah? How much you willing to offer if I do?"

Well, I'm about two weeks into my summer vacation now, so for awhile there I was too busy with travel and such to play any games. I'm starting to get into the groove of things, though, and I've been playing a lot these last couple days.
First off, I finally beat Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge on my Game Boy Advance SP, but I did resort to a little cheating. Turns out I needed to use the shield I got from the last robot boss to defeat Wily, but I had no freakin' idea that I could use it to reflect shots. I had tried it on Wily before, but I thought maybe if I touched the shield to him it would do damage.
Then I started up Mega Man II, also on Game Boy Advance SP, and I'm up to the second set of four stages. This coincides perfectly with me reading the coverage of the game in Nintendo Power. :) I often try to play games over the summer as I read about them in the Nintendo Power issues that I'm making my way very slowly through.
I got back into Lufia & the Fortress of Doom as well, and I'm at the very end. I just need to collect the second and third sets of dragon eggs, and then I'll probably finish it off. I won't bother with trying to max out my levels or getting all the best equipment from item drops since that would be better saved for a "Try Again" file.
Finally, I tried out some recent purchases. I played 10-Yard Fight on NES, which I bought mainly just to add another game to the collection (the NES is one of the only systems were I'll buy anything if it's reasonable since I love increasing my collection and trying more games even if I have next to no interest in them). I picked up a couple Game Boy Advance games too - Castlevania Double Pack and Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. I like Fire Emblem a lot, but it's kind of derivative. It doesn't have the impact of the older console titles. I only got the Double Pack because I'm a slave to the Castlevania series, even though I've lost all interest in the games past Circle of the Moon. They're okay, though; they're playable. They're just rather mediocre and repetitive and definitely don't warrant Igarashi's massive ego.
Oh, and I guess I should mention that I played some arcade stuff via emulation on a friend's XBox. I played TwinBee Yahho! and one of the Parodius games, and then all of us played four player TMNT: Turtles in Time. We had gotten up to Cement Man and in the middle of the fight the system just shut off. Then when our friend walked over to his XBox he smelled a nasty, strong, burnt smell. So yeah, there was a power surge and it fried his XBox. :(
Still playing Shining Soul on GBA. I picked up Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures on Genesis as well, so I'm giving that a try.

I actually beat two games today, which is pretty impressive for me considering the rate at which I usually beat my games. First I finished collecting the three sets of dragon eggs in Lufia & the Fortress of Doom on SNES, and then I polished it off. It was a pretty satisfying ending and overall a fairly good game, but I'm glad I'm done with it. I spent 30-some hours on it, and it could've just as well been 10 hours shorter. It did have a tendency to grow repetitive. Lufia II is definitely the far better game.
Almost right after that, I breezed through the rest of Mega Man II on my Game Boy Advance SP. Man, what a difference compared to the first Game Boy Mega Man. The controls aren't as tight, but, boy, is it easier. I got through most everything on my very first try, including Wily.

Well, I was thinking about making Lagoon on SNES my next game to play through, but I don't think that's going to work out. I've played the very beginning several times now, and it seems like the game's battery will only sporadically hold a save. If I save and reset, it'll be there, and if I turn the SNES off and on again, it'll still be there, but it's when I leave it off for at least a few hours when the save seems to disappear. Pretty lame. I've had some saves disappear now and then on various carts after not being touched for very long, but this is the first game I've come across where the battery seems totally messed up. Maybe this is a good excuse to finally get that game bit to open up carts with, but in the meantime I need something else to play.
Instead, I decided to play Super Mario Sunshine on GameCube. I wanted a game that feels like summer, and I figured it's the best I can come up with. I really enjoyed playing StarTropics 1 & 2 back to back a few years ago, so maybe I can recapture that summer time feel again with Super Mario Sunshine. My boyfriend and I got the game when it was brand new, and I actually put a fair bit of time into it back then (getting around 40 Shines). However, I was only really playing because it was exciting and brand new. It's actually kind of unusual for me to play a game so much and then just quit. I either just barely try out a game or I commit myself and complete it thoroughly. I'd like to do the latter this time, but there are several features about the game that bothered me back then and still bother me now. I figure there's no time better than the present to play it, though, since one of my complaints was that there wasn't enough variety to the stages, but now I'm in the mood for something tropical and sunny so it doesn't matter if all the stages are like that. Anyway, I currently have around 20 Shines, and I'm enjoying myself pretty well despite a few nagging flaws.

Mortal Kombat : Armageddon PS2 - I rekkomend this game to any MK fan be it oldschool from the klassic 2-D games or the newer fans that were introduced with the more recent konsole 3-D versions.
I just recently picked up MK:A after reading some of the Wii reviews (I wont go into that here:angel:)and have had a lot of fun with this decent 3-D fighter with well over 60 Karacters from just about every mortal Kombat game its a real treat for MK fans.
seriously if you have a PS2 or Xbox and have ANY liking for Mortal Kombat at all do yourself a favor and look into this game its well worth the current asking price.

Still on the Saturn fix. Thank goodness for the intertubes. Keep yer trucks outta there!
Spent a little time with Saturn Bomberman Fight, which is a very good little game. The graphics are 3D polygons, with playfields set at an isometric angle. Everything looks excellent, and the game itself is a lot of fun. But I kept fighting the urge to reach for my Saturn Bomberman disk instead. Still better than the N64 Bombermen. I've got a good post on my games blog.
Drift King '97 - Remember Genki's Tokyo Extreme Racer on Dreamcast? Well, this was the Saturn version. It's a real surprise. Everything looks terrific and drives smooth. Poor Saturn was hurting for good racers, and yet this one (and Wipeout XL) get left behind? What's the justice in that?!
Deep Fear - Sega's answer to Res Evil. Except it's in a boat. Which totally makes it all different. Oh, and the voice acting is even worse. The whole script is full of master-of-unlocking's, if ya get my drift. And, surprise, surprise, another top-quality Saturn game that was sorely needed over here. At least it was released in Europe. Check it out sometime.

The former is pretty slick and sure as heck beats plain old Pinball (even if I do love that Mario mini-game), and the latter is good but disheartening. I can't play Marvel Land without feeling like I'm one of those loser kids on Nick Arcade. :P No matter how well you're doing, one mistake and you bite the dust.

Midnight Club 3:DUB Edition: REMIX(PS2)
I'm working on the last few races in career mode in Detroit. I've gotta say, it's getting to be a challenge. Part of that is do to the fact that I'm using a class A car, which is so fast I usually end up slamming into something during the race. hahaha.
Spy Fiction(PS2)
I got this game years ago, as a gift and I am just now getting into it. Good game, I know it's a MGS knockoff, but it is a pretty fun stealth/action title. Almost no one seemed to play this, as it got released right around the time when MGS3 was coming out. So it fell by the wayside pretty quickly
Wii Sports(Wii)
I guess I really do suck at Bowling, as my wife was kicking my ass at it today. And shes 6 months pregnant. Maybe I will just stick to Golf. ;)

Turbo Duo: Lords of Thunder. I can't get over how awesome the soundtrack is on this game. The ability to buy power-ups is a cool feature, but I don't think the shooting action quite lives up to Gate of Thunder.
NES: Marble Madness. This game is still as fun as it used to be, just tragically short. Too bad the last level is so frustrating, too!

I've been playing Gameboy Wars all weekend. For those who don't know about it, it's one of the prequels to Advance Wars that was only released in Japan. I'm currently stuck in a quagmire on Yontamajima -- I need to airlift infantry to the other islands, but I can't airlift armored vehicles to support them, which makes each invasion a suicide mission.

How playable is this (and the other Japan-only Wars games) if you don't know Japanese?

If you don't know Japanese, it will probably take a lot of trial and error. Once you figure out what the various units do, you should be okay.

For the last week or so i've been trying to finally beat Rolling Thunder 2 - Sega Genesis (without a cheat code);
also, i've re-discovered River Raid - Colecovision (usually I only play the Atari 8-bit version);
last but not least, Defender - Atari 8-bit.
- love those sweet classics!

Well, I beat Super Mario Sunshine on GameCube since the game pretty much forces you to once the plaza floods. The final battle was really easy, but I guess the main challenge of it would just be figuring out what to do and I had already seen my boyfriend beat it years ago. I believe this now brings my total of GameCube games I've completed to a whopping 3. :P I'm not done with it just yet, though. I'd like to collect all 120 Shines, and I'm currently up to 82. Frankly, I don't see how it's possible for the game to have 120, but I'll probably consult a guide sooner or later.

Right now, only two games really occupy my time.
NFL 2k5 (always gonna be better than Madden, can't wait for All Pro Football 2k8)
NBA 2k7 (just got into basketball, very radical game)

I'd admire your skill, if you'd manage to do that, this game is really hard as nails. I only finished it on an emulator and it was still damn hard, even with those almighty Savestates.
Although I screamed in frustration many times, I still think it's an excellent game, but I'll stick to something moe managable, like the equally awesome (and much more forgiving), Elevator Action Returns which seems to be heavily inspired by the Rolling Thunder series.

I'm up to 101 Shines in Super Mario Sunshine on GameCube now, and I'm kinda running out of ones I'd actually like to do. :P I got two Episode 8 stages left (the ones in Ricco Harbor and in Pianta Village) because Yoshi annoys the hell out of me in this game and I can't figure out how to manage riding the fluff in Pianta Village. I got a couple red coin challenges left to do in the most difficult non-Fludd stages, which are a pain even when you get to use Fludd in them. I also have the stage in the plaza I need to get to by riding the boats with Yoshi. And, of course, I'm still missing loads of blue coins, but at least I have all the ones from the plaza.
I also picked up Toy Story for SNES last night, so I gave that a try. When I first got a Nintendo Power subscription many years ago, it was covered in one of the first issues I received, and I was so easily hyped up back then. I found myself desperately wanting just about any game that got feature coverage, Toy Story included. I never did get the game, as was the case with the vast majority of the games I read about, and now that I have it now and have given it a try, I'm glad I didn't. :P There are some pretty impressive techniques going on with the graphics, but it plays like sludge.
