Brave Fencer Musashi on PlayStation is really starting to drive me crazy. It's becoming so exceptionally frustrating to replay everything from the last save point just to get to the final form of the final boss and to also have to redo the second to last form each time I die on the last. If I was just having a hard time, that would be one thing, but I still can't figure out how to do ANY damage to that last form. I feel like a complete idiot that I can't figure this out; it can't be THAT complicated. It's like Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge all over again, except in that game it was kinda fun to replay the stages (until I got so good at them that they got boring), and it didn't feel all that time-consuming. Mostly this is driving me nuts because I only have a couple days of free time left in my vacation, and I'd rather not have to pack the game cross-country just to beat the final boss and put it away (I already have plenty of other games I will be taking me with anyway). I know I could look it up, but I'm already adamant about not using outside help (besides on the secret action figures). I feel like practically every game I play these days I use at least some outside help on, so I really wanted to have a game I could say I beat completely on my own (besides straightforward platformers and such). I've been stuck in Musashi a lot, but so far I've always gotten myself out of it on my own, with the exception of one tiny part where I had forgotten about a technique that I had already known about. My boyfriend helped me remember it, and even though I kinda wish he hadn't, I wasn't clear that I didn't want help and it wasn't a big thing anyway. So, yeah, this is a tricky situation.
Other than Musashi, I tried out some new purchases I made on my Game Boy Advance SP. I played Mortal Kombat & Mortal Kombat II for Game Boy, Paperboy for Game Boy Color, Pac-Man Collection for GBA, and Atari Anniversary Advance for GBA as well. I could kinda do without the first two, but I had a lot of fun with the two GBA carts.

The past few days, visitors to the bangtango residence would have viewed the following games "in action."
-Zelda II (NES): can't get enough of this one, my favorite Zelda!
-Solitaire (Tiger Game.Com): very addictive!
-Lights Out (Tiger Game.Com): meh
-Club Drive (Atari Jaguar): I like running into the cat in the house!
-Supercross 3D (Atari Jaguar): really shitty framerate but otherwise it is decent
-Bill Walsh College Football (Sega Genesis): my very first time playing this, played it in memory of Bill Walsh (R.I.P.), not too bad
-Tommy Lasorda Baseball (Sega Genesis): haven't played this in forever, tough to score runs in this one!

Some retro goodies:
Atari 5200:
Space Invaders, Pac-Man, Missile Command, Choplifter, River Raid and Centipede.
For control usage:
Missile Command and Centipede are pure gold with the Trak-ball controller.
Pac-Man best handles with a loose stick.
Choplifter, Space Invaders & River Raid have been excellent with the Wico locking controller.
PS2:
Guitar Hero 2 and Alien Hominid.
I hooked my PS2 up downstairs because the 5200 needed a spot infront of the TV in my room. It's all working out quite well and Alien Hominid is hard as all hell but fun! I am a few songs into medium for GH2 after completing all songs on easy with 5 stars.
NDS:
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow.
Slowly I've been cranking away on hard difficulty.
I've recently been playing Rygar (PS2) and Persona 3.
Rygar has gotten extremely annoying, so I don't know if I'll continue onward, but Persona 3 is nothing short from amazing.
I've also been playing Portrait of Ruin on the DS.

My nephew and his fiance Martha (who are marrying in October) came by this afternoon and brought pizza. After eating, we all played 18 holes of Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour on my GameCube. I won, playing as Mario. Derek played as a Koopa while Martha played as Diddy. It was Martha's first time playing this game so she was at a disadvantage...she did play well the last half or so of the course but was too far back by then to catch up.

Surprisingly my flatmate told me this game has rubbish graphics. Its always struck me as having fantastic graphics and i was impressed the PS2 was achieving them. He said he thought the point was that it looked like a fun game so was meant to have shit graphics. Oh well. Anyway, i did some heart attack and another flagman challenge, possibly discovering a new favourite car...

In the past 3-4 days, I have hit the following:
-Space Ace (CD-i): Were all versions of the game this difficult and insanely fast?
-Grolier's Interactive Encyclopedia (CD-i): I know it is not a game really.......
-NCAA March Madness 2002 (Playstation 2): First time playing this and I tried a few different difficulty levels. All changing the difficulty level does is make the ref call more fouls and your players miss more shots (shooting percentage drops off). Otherwise, you can easily shut down most computer opponents and pass through a swiss cheese defense on your way into the hoop, not much AI here at all.
-MVP Baseball 2003 (XBox): Today's game was a back-and-forth affair, I was the Pirates and they (the computer) were the Reds. I won by one run, 5-4.
-Vic Avenger (Commodore Vic-20): By far the hardest version of Space Invaders I ever played, holy shit........

Recently I finished Thief Gold (on Normal, i.e. easy), which was great fun, even if they dragged out the blasted talisman hunt for much longer than need be. The cool maps (and new ones in Gold, which is the only version of Thief I've had) made up for it. Had this one since its retail release but never got farther than perhaps 1/3 of the way into the game.
I tried out The Duel, Dalton-era James Bond sidescroller game. The game had always had a bit of mystique to me; from screenshots I saw way back when it was clear the game was colorful and there would be lots of action. The music and front end make a great impression (horrible garish portrait of Dalton aside). As much as I wanted to like this game, however, the terrible twitchy gameplay and nonsensical control scheme (you can fire in seven directions, but to fire down you need to fire straight out first, what garbage) only serve to make the game's labyrinthine areas a pain to play through on your search for items. Definitely a member of the group of bad collect-a-thons.
Today I played a lot of Raiden Fighters Jet. MUST COLLECT MORE MEDALS. It's great fun when you get over the hump and when bar medals start coming out...until then, watch out! My favorite ship is Raiden Mk. II - despite its slowness it has some serious firepower and makes obtaining simultaneous demolition bonuses easy.
I am working on getting stuff around for playing System Shock in XP (guide here: http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69578 ). I will probably also dig out one of my Macs and try Monkey Island 2.

Busy day but I got some online COD3 in...
I kept getting into low amount of people games=1 against one in a huge map sucks....
Eventually I got in a few huge people games-capture the flag.
One I became the host of after a long time of play and two dicks came into the game and were fooling around running people over with two jeeps..They could care less about being punished to..
I got so aggravated that I quit the game,I'm not sure since I quit it if it ended for everyone else.
Poked around until I finally got into a two on two game whereas the guy on my team was new..I took him around and explained things via the mic.
Then the game just exploded with a ton of people joining in...Two kids were arguing back and forth so bad, they were both on my team and they kept killing each other often killing other people and myself..I even killed someone by mistake on myown team trying to avoid these two..
Name calling over and over .one guy was from NY the other Ohio....Eventually the younger sounding one left.
Then a woman with a heavy accent from Australia came into the game and the one guy who stayed was saying all kinds of stupid crap to her..
Through it all I was laughing my ass off..

Yeah, I know I only posted two days ago. But I've been gaming a lot more regularly the past couple of months.
-Metal Head (Sega 32X): Played this some more and tried to get past Level 5-1 another time. Those attempts were in vain, I breezed all the way up to that stage and burned up all five continues there. Game over.
-Ecco the Dolphin (Sega CD): Made it further than I ever had before but got stuck in this one, too.
-NBA Live 98 (Sega Saturn): First time I ever sat down and played it. A sucky version of NBA Live. Headed into the box for another one of my lot sales here in Buy/Sell.
-Daytona USA (Sega Saturn): People like to complain about it being a poor port and failing to measure up to Ridge Racer. Whatever. Probably my favorite game on the Saturn, I've already dominated the high score table.
-Madden 2004 (XBox): Preseason is underway and I rolled the opposition 56-14.
-Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddler's Green (XBox): Still playing through this after a few months in, though before today I had not touched it in 2 months. There is way more ammo stashed in this game than I will ever need. Wish the Resident Evil games were this generous with spare bullets all over the place.
