In the last ten days or so, since my last post..........

-Sid Meier's Pirates (XBox)
-Land of the Dead (XBox)
-MLB Inside Pitch 2003 (XBox)
-High Heat Baseball 2004 (XBox)
-Jaws Unleashed (on both XBox & PS2)
-World Series Baseball (Game Gear)
-World Series Baseball (Genesis)
-NBA Showtime (Dreamcast)
-Solitaire (Game.Com)
-River City Ransom (NES version played on my Yobo)
-Madden 64 (Nintendo 64)
-WWF War Zone (Nintendo 64)
-Evil Zone (Playstation)

Somebody who seems to read my posts here PM'ed me asking how come I play so many games all at once in a relatively brief period. I like to play individual games in 30-90 minutes bursts ideally, so although there are a little over a dozen games here, it doesn't add up to a huge amount of gaming time :wink 2:

Silent Scope - Dreamcast
Hmm, my Dreamcast seems to take a lot of trouble loading this, and many restarts and putting in boot discs and Sega Rally 2 for some reason finally gets it to load. This happened on both days I've played it, oh well. I've played this before on the PS2 and it is a good game, if very short. I still can't complete it though. I do like the added training missions even though they keep telling me I'm useless. I think I would have preferred a longer main game but then thats when I'm glad I can pick up arcade ports for only £2 rather than the £40 that new games cost.

More Brain Training - DS
Dr. Kawashima informs me its been a week since I've played so I did 2 days straight and its enjoyable but getting a bit repetitive and I've only played it about 5 times. If I remember right from the first game, you need 30+ days play to unlock all the different games. As for the Brain Age check, well, I only play 3 of those games anyway so am already down to 25.

Since the Babies been born>now home..My Son has become the big boy..
Filling my place online via his COD3 Xbox live...Though he usually plays with me via his account I don't have him on a mic.
He's been using the headset directing and talking to people.
He does very well for his age too.

Last night we played together/COD3 online.
Sadly is,I seem to be getting a lot of the bottom of the barrel players=cheaters, glitchers, team killers..It almost feels like somtimes the game is at it's end..I'm not sure why..
I havenot followed the release of COD4,..but if that's out then I can see a bunch of people jumped over to that leaving the SHIT to COD3

Downloaded some new demos to the PS3..

Today.

Sis in law, husband nephew---later,my mom and step dad came over...to see the new baby.

Played several MVS Arcade games and Wii Bowling.

ALEX KIDD IN MIRACLE WORLD was a more enjoyable SUPER MARIO BROS. because of the added monetary upgrades you could purcahse, and FANTASY ZONE one ups any shmup with its upgradable machinery. My copy of Ninja Bread Man (Wii) came from gamefly today and I don't like it much. I'm glad I didn't buy it like I had ideas to previously. The game would be completely unplayable if it weren't for the fact that they let jump by pressing Z. Horrendous camera controls mar this game completely and I have lower standards.

Other than that I've been playing Check Mii Out Channel, Graffitti Kingdom (I'm at around level 25 with one key), and New Adventure Island (TG-16/VC). I would be playing Mario Galaxy but my TRU failed to receive their shipments. My wife is also loving My Sims (Wii).

Bunch of games being played over the last week. And a few of them I have recently beat as well.

- Xenosaga episode II (PS2) - the battles were long, the dungeons were boring, but the story was great. Really got into this one at the end and can't wait to bust into the 3rd one.

- Metroid II (GB) - was stuck on the last boss for a couple days til I learned you could tuck and bomb the crap out of him. He was cake after that.

- Guitar Hero II and 80s (PS2) - I'm a decent guitar hero but not good enough to beat either of these on expert. Stuck on Free Bird on II and stuck on Electric Eye before the last song in 80s.

- Mario & Sonic Olympics (Wii) - Very fun game. More than what I was expecting from a mini-game compilation game. There is more to it than one basic task/control for each game as you will see in almost every other compilation wii game out there. This game is probably the most exhausting games I've played for the Wii so far as well. You want to get a work out, do a few 4x100m freestyles (swimming) with all four players being controlled by you, you'll see what I mean.

COD3 online with my Son

been having xbox 360 online issues lately...but tonight it was a bit better ..

Got into several games and my Son whould go to the Axis side so that he can fend me off.
He did,he kept kicking my ass even though I can clearly see where he's at from looking at his TV screen..

Wound up getting in a Capture the Flag game in the bonus map Champs,,This time my son joined me on the Allied side.
He did very well working with me and taking direction....It's awesome to see him take several enemies out that you direct him to...
We got into the hour long game late but I jumped up to the top in kills quick..I met a cool older dude who was 2nd to me on the list of kills...We worked together and
He had to go get Mc Donalds for his wife so he left..
The game was going great until we got this one cry baby(adult) start ranting=complaining..He was getting his ass handed to him and he didn't like it..He wanted our side to defend him/giving off demands and orders..then bitching when no one listened.
He knew I was on the Mic and started to bitch more kinda directed at me to do his bidding..
He starts telling everone to shut up and listen to him..
I just could not take it anymore he was disrupting the game....I told him to STFU and he stopped the bitchin..,,still talked but the bitchin was gone..ROFL

This game is simply incredible. Its also the first Mario game I have bought... Prior to this I've probably only played ~5mins of the original, ~5mins of Mario64 (which i didn't like) and I think back in the day i completed both Mario Land and Mario Land 2, though its hard to remember since I didn't own a GameBoy myself. Anyway, I got this on launch on Friday and put it an average of 6 hours each of the 3 days of the weekend. Its completely amazing. So, i'm on 58 stars so far and I am hooked and can't wait for work to end so I can go and play some more

I was playing some Castlevania: DoS earlier today. Haven't played it in a good while and was picking up from my previous "Hard" game save, which is actually very easy. Eventually I used the Puppet Master spell and was wedged between a spot and couldn't move. Tried sliding and summoning myself out of there but it wouldn't work. Should be too difficult or long to get back to the point but I'll need to avoid that issue.

It's been another long delay since the last time I posted in this topic, but overall, I bet I've had less hours gaming since then than between my previous posts. It's sad because even though I've tried out things here and there, I feel like I haven't "seriously" PLAYED anything in months. Maybe that'll change a bit this Thanksgiving break, but it's more likely I'll have to wait until Winter vacation (since I have school work to catch up on this week).

Let's see if I can remember everything I've tried, though. In my last post, I mentioned a few imports I bought, and I played through the rest of them since then. On PlayStation I played Kinniku Banzuke: Road to Sasuke and Maria. The former I bought solely because it's a game based off of Ninja Warrior (those of you who watch G4 should be familiar with it), and I figured just the very idea of it would crack up my buddies. It's surprisingly addictive to do the events. :P Maria, on the other hand, was a disappointment because I was expecting something like R?MJ, that is, a horror adventure game with FMV that really impressed people at the time but now just looks disturbing a la Blue Stinger on Dreamcast. Instead, I basically just got a sound novel. I've read that it's got portions where there's some point-and-click exploring, but I sat there for around two hours skipping through endless dialogue as fast as I could and didn't reach anything resembling gameplay, outside of maybe 10 moments tops that I got to choose an answer to something.

On N64, I played 64 de Hakken! Tamagotchi Minna de Tamagotchi World, which is a board game based off of Tamagotchi. Mildly amusing, but mini-games didn't come frequently enough and weren't that thrilling either. It's a little slow for a board game considering a large aspect of it is raising your Tamagotchi. If you're into that and got a few friends that are too, maybe it's more fun (if you can tolerate playing a board game in Japanese).

And on Super Famicom, I played Super Wagyan Land, which was also too slow for me since clearly Namco was more interested in putting the focus on making it "educational" than on the platforming elements. I actually played through the entire game in one sitting on easy, but it was really driving me nuts by the end because it takes way more time to play through the annoying educational mini-games than the actual stages themselves. It seems like the stages would be more challenging and fun on higher difficulties, but I wouldn't have a prayer of a chance getting pass the boss mini-games with barely any understanding of Japanese.

Moving on, I tested out Baten Kaitos Origins on GameCube and Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories on PlayStation 2. Both seem very good, but no time to get into them now. Baten Kaitos Origins doesn't seem like it's as good as the original, though.

My boyfriend bought a DS and Contra 4, which I played, and I'm extremely impressed with it (or should I say both). I also tried some multiplayer Mario Kart DS. Via emulation, my boyfriend and I played a little Contra III for Super Nintendo, and I got addicted to Door Door on Famicom. Today I tested out a copy of The Game of Life for PlayStation that I just got. It's pretty sucky and I had little interest in it in the first place, but it's somewhat uncommon and slightly valuable so I figured I'd pick it up at the low price it was being sold for.

And finally, I still sporadically play a little Heiankyo Alien (old version) and Centipede via Atari Anniversary Advance on my Game Boy Advance SP.

Where to begin. LOL I've actually been playing a lot of games for a change. I played through Illusion of Gaia across the time of three evenings at the end of last week and over the weekend. No big deal as it's my all time favorite game but I hadn't given it a run in over a year so I figured it was time to. After that I played it again quickly via emulation to replace the old and low res screen shots in the review of the game I wrote years ago.

Of course I dropped about three dollars into the Pole Position MAME cabinet, playing Pole Position, Pole Position II, and Konami GT.

Quite a few NES games although mainly for testing and verification purposes. Although I did play Super Cars for quite a bit today as I was finally able to snag a copy. I have no idea why I've always liked this game since renting it a few times back in the NES heyday - especially considering how frustrating it can get at times.

Most of today was taken up with my recently acquired Japanese Sega Pico, playing the various Japanese titles I got with the system as well as the usual cleaning and testing. It all works perfectly - especially the quirky fishing game that uses the special fishing controller. Think Sega Bass Fishing meets The Blue Marlin and then drench it in kids anime visuals. Speaking of which, guess I should post that in the finds thread. Also need to make a thread for it over there to gather more information.

More Brain Training - DS
Again, it had been a week since I'd last played. I got told about that Dr.Mario game in it last time which was enjoyable. I hope more games are unlocked soon.

Super Mario Galaxy - Wii
Only an hours play and only got 2 more stars. This game is getting hard, or maybe its just the galaxy I am on. I also caved and bought New Super Mario Bros this morning. So that may feed my Mario addiction whilst commuting...

King Arthur's World for SNES, Rogue Squadron II for GC, and Contra: Hard Corps for Genssis. King Arthurs World, is a little hard to control at first- I should probably try and find a SNES mouse, like it recommends.

Much of my time has been spent with Final Fantasy 3 (which I'm trying to rush through, before my friend wants if back), but I'm still finding time to enjoy Mole Mania (GBC).

Since Sunday, it's been all about slim PSP, mainly Puzzle Quest even though the game is sometimes more frustrating than life itself. Other than that, I've been playing Capcom Puzzle World (Buster Bros.), Tekken:DR (I'm po'ed because my save wouldn't transfer over from the original PSP even with my memory stick) and Taito Memories Pocket (Rainbow Islands Extra).

Now that Thanksgiving is here, I plan to hook up the 360 and Dreamcast this afternoon.

I spent two hours on Tuesday night cleaning a 2600 Jr. and about 20 games only to discover that the cord I picked up at Radioshack was the wrong one, so as soon as I can find a female adaptor to RCA connection, I'll be playing that system.

Super Mario Galaxy - Wii
Did 3 more ToyGalaxy stars which weren't anywhere near as frustrating as the first 2, in part because I realised that the only way i can get spring mario to consistently work is by hammering the A button repeatedly. It shouldn't need to come to that. But hey, it was enjoyable, so I did that and then the final Bowser Jr boss battle before deciding to tackle the final boss of the game. The level was really good fun but the boss was a bit dissapointing, pretty much the same as all the other Bowser fights during the game and then I thought he was going to come back for more and he didn't. After that I was pleasantly surprised to see more new galaxies for me and the introduction of the purple coins which I've heard much talk about. So now I'm on 77/120 stars.

New Super Mario Bros. - DS
I got this because of Galaxy. My first time was dissapointing. The second time was better. I'm on the first couple of levels of world 2. I don't like how you can't save anywhere (I am playing this game on the train) and also that if you do lose all your lives you lose your save progress and have to replay loads of levels again. It is pretty good though, once you realise that it can't be a Mario Galaxy and there a few nice things now. I should stick with it really as it is pretty good.

Swimmer on the Tecmo Classic Arcade disc for the Xbox. Super hard game. Reminds me of Toobin, but not as fun or as polished.

Modern-wise I'm obsessing over NFS Pro Street on the PS3. Classics-wise I'm playing Arc The Lad 2, FF7 yet again (Cloud, Red 13 and Vincent this time), and generally continuing my PSX gaming jones. What a great system it really was.

Finally got XII Stag for Japanese PS2 in the mail today from playasia.com and I tried it out. Pretty simple for a modern day vertical shooter, although I still haven't gotten the hang of shooting at targets from the side and behind my ship.

Then, I tried the Virtua Tennis 3 for PSP I got from Gamestop this morning and fell asleep watching Richard Pryor: Live on the Sunset Strip on UMD.

And I never pulled out the Dreamcast or 360 like I said I would the other day...
