During the last 3 months, I did play a lot of games for the ColecoVision game system, what a surprise. I did play commercial and homebrew games like Donkey Kong, Zaxxon, Time Pilot, Q*Bert, Space Fury, Pacman, Cye, Ghostblaster, and many more.

Wow, some of these good old games I did enjoy in the past are very hard. I did try to play back games like Venture and Time Pilot, and I'm not able to go as far as I did in the past. The controls in Venture are delayed and the ennemies move randomly toward you. And I was unable to get any medal or reward in Time Pilot like in the past.

So, I have questions... Why I'm suddently bad at these games I did master more than 10 years ago? is it because I didn't play these good old games for a long time or because the present games did change us? How does that work? Why it can be? I don't know what is going on, I'm still pretty good in some videogames, but not the first ones for unknow reason.

I've been playing quite a bit of Puzzle Quest on the PSP (when the gf isn't playing Diner Dash, that is). Yeah, I'm a little late to the party, but now I know what I've been missing. Talk about addictive.

I've also been trying to go through the complete Metal Slug series (except 7) on less than 10 credits. I made it through the first game, and I can get to the 3rd level on MS2 without dying, but then things conspire to keep me from reaching my goal :(

Games that I am briefly playing (but intend on playing more later):

Half-Minute Hero
Super Collapse 3
Both Luxor games
7 Wonders
Loco Roco Midnight Carnival

Still playing through Puzzle Quest on the PSP. It's ridiculous how this game gets you hooked!

Also tried out LittleBigPlanet on the PSP. I've been curious about this game ever since the PS3 release, but so far, the only thing I've been doing is collecting bubbles and slapping stickers randomly on the background. I'm sure that there's more to this game than just that, though....

I've been playing alot of GTA Chinatown Wars (PSP) lately. You don't even need to do the missions to have fun in this game; you can just hop right into the drug-trading aspect and be hooked.

I haven't been playing a ton the last couple weeks since I've been pretty busy with school and knocked out with a cold the last few days (I guess I'm one of the few gamers out there that isn't up for marathon playing when sick). But I have been turning to my Game Boy Advance SP when I'm laying around in bed, and I've been playing through the modes in Castlevania: Circle of the Moon. I beat Fighter mode, then Shooter, and now I'm plugging away at Thief, the final mode. I've also been tackling some odds and ends. I beat the Battle Arena in Fighter since that's got to be the easiest mode to do it in, and I got 100% of the map. I did some level grinding in Magician to eventually take on the Battle Arena in that mode, but that'll be a real challenge. And I finally learned a good way to farm for the Bear Ring without sacrificing my 25% luck boost.

*gasp* Game Freak posts in this thread! wow!

The past week has been pretty much the same lineup of games. I got 9 NES/Genny games in the mail monday: Zoda's Revenge, Crystalis, Final Fantasy, Metroid, Wheel of Fortune: Family Edition, Fatal Labyrinth, Sword of Vermillion, Shining in the Darkness, and Phantasy Star 2.

I started the week off on Tuesday testplaying Wheel of Fortune for 5 minutes, then Metroid. Then I played Crystalis for a good while. I got through the first cave and am in a town. Real descriptive, aren't i? I'm so bad with names >_>

On Wednesday I went to a friend's house to work on an English video project, and we went to the other group members' house as well to look for props. He found his NES and a bunch of games. He gave me two NES games because he had not the zapper for them: Wild Gunman and Gotcha! The Sport. I played both of them until i died (i need to get an NES controller extender or something, my NES Satellite doesn't like zappers for some reason.) He also let me borrow a copy of Donkey Kong Country 3 that he had found. Now i wish I asked him if I could borrow Home Alone on SNES as well, it's nothing like the NES version and more like the Game Boy, correct?

So since Wednesday, I've been continuing my play of Illusion of Gaia that i got September of last year. I'm really bad at consistently playing a game to the finish. I've also been playing Donkey Kong Country 3 and perhaps shall go back to Crystalis at some point.

Oh, I also believe I played Dragon Warrior for a few minutes on Monday...i couldn't get over the 1st generation RPG controls >_> it's worse than the time I played Shadowgate.

I beat the Battle Arena in Thief mode in Castlevania: Circle of the Moon on my Game Boy Advance SP, and it was very fun to spam all those restorative items I acquired through the course of the game, especially since you barely get any playing the other modes. That's the problem I'm having with beating the Battle Arena on Shooter mode. The damage from sub-weapons is great, but I'm still bound to take a hit here and there. And with his pathetic defense, I'm really screwed without some healing items. I blew through all of my hearts fighting Legions with the 25% luck increase, and I still only got three Potion Highs.

I also tried out four Japanese-exclusive Nintendo 64 games I recently got: 64 Hanafuda: Tenshi no Yakusoku, Onegai Monsters, Super B-Daman Battle Phoenix 64, and Ucchannanchan no Honou no Challenge: Denryuu IraIra Bou; and besides Onegai Monsters, they're all actually quite playable and fun. My prior experience with hanafuda helps with 64 Hanafuda, but the only problem is that it has three games to play with hanafuda cards. I can play koi-koi no sweat, but there is a somewhat similar game that I don't have a full grasp on and another completely different game that seem like maybe it's a little similar to blackjack or something. I can BS my way through the former with a few tries, but I'm completely lost on the latter. I'd like to play through story mode, but given that it's a mix of all three, I'll have to invest some time into researching those games. Denryuu IraIra Bou is another rendition of The Irritating Stick/Maze, and we've been having a blast with that but it's a shame that there are only six courses. Super B-Daman is a little wonky in that it's basically a light gun party game for a system that has no light gun, but it's decent fun nonetheless. And Onegai Monsters... well, let's just say that it makes Quest 64 look like a masterpiece. :P It's a damn shame because it looks like the developers took pride in the project and wanted to make a good game, but the graphics are hideous and the frame rate is out of this world. It's like the game is in perpetual lag. Even menu navigation is a pain since there's a delay in response time for every bit of input. Blargh.

As of right now I am caught up in Swords & Serpents (again), it's a fun title but the password screen is a real pain in the butt. There is a main game password which is like 20 characters long and then all three of your party members have their own passwords which are just as long and annoying as the main game password. Ugh!!!!

It's a fun game once you get past the password system, it's basicly a dungeon crawler, much like Wizadry but with better visuals.

I'm damn near done with Swords & Serpents for the NES and this morning I decided to toss in N.A.R.C and see how far I can get without Game Genie, I only made it a few stages before dying. N.A.R.C is a lot more fun when played 2-player co-op, and it was much better in the arcade's rather than as a console port, still kind of fun though.

As far as modern gaming goes, I have been in love with Lego Batman as of late, it's a game thats reminding me of why I play video games (for fun), and I have been trying to unlock all of the achievements as I go through it. Very entertaining!

Damn you lack of time to play. *shakes fist* I'm swamped in finals week right now (for likely the last time ever, yay), so all I've really had time for is vegging out farming for items in Castlevania: Circle of the Moon on my Game Boy Advance SP. I'm so close to having a perfect file that I can taste it. :P

Besides that, I tried out Neon Genesis Evangelion for Nintendo 64, which I managed to get a really nice deal on (complete for less than $20 shipped, can't beat that, even with the box damage). Very technically impressive game, although the gameplay isn't that exciting. I love the clever mixes of 3D and 2D, and the models are fantastic. I still don't know entirely what I'm doing, but GameFAQs should help when I want to invest real time in it.

I also tried out Shin Megami Tensei: Persona for PSP. I have the original, but never played it for probably more than an hour and don't remember squat. I can't tell too much what's different, besides the weird localization changes are gone, the new music, and the laughably bad original FMV is replaced. It actually seems pretty fun. I need to give both versions a play someday.

This is absolutely fantastic. My first Cave shooter apart from Donpachi on the Saturn! The array of modes and options is fantastic. I'm mainly playing ver1.5 original and learning all the time. Can only make it to stage 3 though. I did try out novice ultra and made it all the way to the final boss and was disappointed with myself for not finishing it. That mode is really nice for the way it has really really dense bullet patterns throughout but is not so difficult. I quite enjoy ver1.5 maniac as well but I'm not good enough to play that - am going to concentrate on original. But I'm quite tempted to shell out for the Black Label DLC as well...

Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins - For me this is nostalgia to the max. Especially when tagged up with my Super Gameboy 2. It makes me think back to the days of playing this for hours on road trips across the country while my parents were driving, crowding around the lucky kid in elementary who owned a Game Boy and watching him play, and playing this game hidden under my desk as my 3rd grade teacher lectured.

Super Metroid - Can you believe the music in this game? So atmospheric. One track that stands out is the one that plays in Maridia. Makes you feel sad an alone on an alien planet just as it should.

Rendering Ranger - If Jesus Christ was in cartridge form this would be it.

Space Invaders: Infinity Gene - iPhone
Went back to this and beat level 3-3 which I was stuck on. But used the lock-on weapon which made level 3-5 easy so quit and said to myself I will beat each level with the default weapon and number of lives. Did level 3-3 properly but then got stuck on 3-4, mostly due to not knowing what causes those stupid gates to open. This game is great but a pad would be better on my thumb.

LittleBigPlanet - PS3
Loaded this up because I completely forgot about it and tried the next story level and died and didn't bother to reload. I can't be arsed with the 5 lives on each checkpoint otherwise you restart the whole level. Annoying. I've played quite a lot of this game now but still haven't tried out any multiplayer or user-generated content because I want to finish the damn story mode first.

Time Lord for NES

Got to WWII stage with 3 orbs earned, then the game froze. :( Fun, but frustrating game.

I've been getting in some pretty good gaming as of late, even if it's still handheld-focused.

So first off, I finally completed my ridiculously stupid goal of having the "perfect" Castlevania: Circle of the Moon Vampire Killer file on my Game Boy Advance SP. I'm at level 99, with maxed out EXP and time, 100% map completion, every HP/MP/Heart max-up item found, every DSS card found and used, and 99 of every single item (except for Shinning Armor, which there's only one of). And then I polished off the Battle Arena in both Magician and Shooter modes, so I'm officially retiring the game, unless I get the urge for a quick replay of the normal game in the future, that is.

So with that wrapped up and not ready to seriously play something else yet, I popped in old reliable Atari Anniversary Advance for some Centipede, and while my first couple games weren't remarkable, I got in the zone after that and demolished my old high score. I can't remember exactly what it was (too bad this cart doesn't save scores), but I believe it was 80,000-some. Well, the other night I hit six digits. :) I got a score of 106530, and while it pales in comparison to what the masters out there have scored, it's a nice victory by my standards.

But now that I have my Secret Santa presents open, I got two more black and white Game Boy games to play, and I decided to get started on Boomer's Adventure in ASMIK World. It reminds me a lot of Heiankyo Alien, except it's not necessary to defeat the enemies. I've beaten two bosses so far, so that puts me at stage 17. Fun stuff so far and a nice challenge. I also popped in Ultima: Runes of Virtue just to give it a try, but I'll finish Boomer before I start it for real.

And finally, I played some 3-player New Super Mario Bros. Wii with family, which is always a chaotic, good time.

Armored Core for Answer.

I played through it again, first time joining the League and finishing the game there, this time playing through Orca and finishing it there, playing through two more times so I can completely finish off the other missions I've missed.

Anyways. After finishing as both the Orca and League one time each you acquire every single item in the shop. I would have played through the game to get enough money to purchase every item, but looks like I don't have to.

I'll go do some online battles once finishing every mission on Hard with an S rank. People are actually doing online battles on ACfA(recently checked too) but since I didn't get everything fully completed I haven't joined a match yet. I think I'm really good but wonder how I'd fare against other AC fans. I haven't played against another fan of the AC series since I was in highschool when three of my friends were into the series.

Repainted the gameroom....so hooked up a Cube and Xbox up to a 13" in the home office. Packed everything else away. Decided to see if it was possible to play and complete Forza while using ONLY "stock" cars.....no mods, no tunings, paint or anything other than using a car the way that the game presents it to you. Just hit level 30....so far so good, although some races are a bugger.

Working on the final game in the original .hack quartet. I actually really like the story (being told via both games and anime) and was refusing to move on in the series until I finished everything in order.

Also returned to playing Ragnarok Online. Some of my friends decided to play a bit, so I thought I'd get back in to it.
