For my next game, I had one planned out from before the summer even started, but with only so much time left and not wanting to have the rest of my vacation consumed on a single game, I decided to go with something shorter first. Inspired by a recent purchase and a little bit of coverage in the Nintendo Power issue I was currently reading, I decided to go with The Battle of Olympus on NES. Summer is a great time for adventure games anyway. :)
So far I've been taking notes on practically everything that townspeople say, and I've also made a few little maps for the more confusing stuff. Right now I'm working on mapping out Crete, but it's a slow process both because of how maze-like it is and because the enemies keep killing me. I'm not positive that I should really be doing this now, but the game is so open-ended it seems like I can do practically whatever I want. Right now I have one heart, three ambrosia, three of the four weapons, and roughly half of each of the other bars filled up with items.

I'm addicted once again to Pokemon Gold for the GBC. Also, playing Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers on the FC Mobile.
Been on a tear, adding to my Cube library since my 8-yr-old prefers his games on Nintendo consoles and we hadn't given the Cube any love in a while. Grabbed about a dozen "E-rateds" last week. We're both chipping away at Mario Sunshine (seperate files) and I've taken a starting look at Haunted Mansion, which has fantastic lighting effects. He's playing Banjo Kazooie on the N64 and Tales Of Phantasia on his Gameboy SP. I'm on a Forza2 binge on the 360 as well, since I want to finish it before #3 hits the stores this fall.

Fallout 3..
Playing Broken Steel..
But since there are so many Enclave bases plastered around I've been spending hours walking across the landscape..runnin into everything and Enclave..lots of them..
Some Enclave bases I keep a reminder of where they are as some are really close to travel to places..The Enclave return to bass after I cleared them out so it's a constant fight..
What I do is leave MINES where I killed them near the bases, come back and I get instant XP..as they step on the mines when I travel near the base..LOL
I wonder if there is a map made to locate all the bases.
I haven't been able to find the leader of the Regulator HQ to trade in my fingers..everytime I go to the HQ I'm in an instant fight with animals..So I figured she was killed..but last night I found her..She's just standing near/overlooking/on a hill the nearby Scrap Yard..
Ohhh..How the heck she got there I have no clue...She's stuck..
I push moved her to a wall overlooking the scrap yard so that when I go there I'll see her on the wal(Who T heck is that)
She still takes the fingers but won't move..She's better off at this spot as she's probably get killed standing in front of the HQ.
I am running with,Jericho ,Fawkes,Brotherhood of Steel's Star Paladin Cross...and Dogmeats puppy..
..
I was able to get Dogmeats puppy to follow me again by going to 101 and telling him to folow me(stuck) then to go to 101 then to follow again..doing this unstuck him..
I decided to go see if Star would follow me..I killed Dogmeats puppy in front of her and she agreed to follow..
..Dogmeats Puppy then apears at 101 again after a short while..I go back there do the follow/ go to 101/ follow and he folows
I can't give him stimpaks though..He got killed last night by a new ghoul..(that I had reloaded after live wnd down as I was door saving(currupt) froze the 360..Stupid LIVE..
Within minutes I got a message that Dogmeats puppy was waiting by 101...I gotta go get him again..
during my travels I told Star Paladin Cross to WAIT..Her Jericho and Fawkes while I took on some Enclave..(to get XP)
When I came back Star Paladin Cross would not move/follow..after telling her to follow..(glitched)..I tried to travel around to pull her but still no..
I tried to push her into open area but she still was not following..
I had no choice but to FIRE her..but as she went to run back to the Citadel I headed her off and HIRED her again..She accepted and started to follow again..CRAZY

Bleh, we just got through quite the nasty heat wave here in the Northwest. Since, like most people here, we don't have air conditioning, I couldn't bring myself to do much besides watch TV, read, and play games. I tried to make the best of it, though, and I polished off The Battle of Olympus on NES. I'm pretty proud of myself that I basically figured out everything on my own, short of reading a tiny bit of Counselor's Corner info in Nintendo Power. I was stuck trying to get to Phyrgia forever, though. I was trying all this complicated, ridiculous stuff to get there when I was being an idiot all along. I finally got the idea to wander through all of Attica for the first time since around when I began the game and discovered that there was ocean there that I had forgotten. Anyway, it was a really satisfying, nice little adventure game. I don't know why it doesn't get more attention like Crystalis, StarTropics, or Willow. Maybe people just have something against sidescrolling adventure games (Faxanadu deserves more attention too, and Zelda II is obviously regarded as a black sheep).
I couldn't really come up with any other ideas of what to play, so I decided to finally go with my original plan of playing Pikmin 2 on GameCube. So far I haven't done much, just played through the first day.

Near the very end of Lufia and it's dragging on. It's not too long a game it just feels long because every attack and animation is just so slow. If it was quicker paced during battles sure it'd be shorter, but it also wouldn't feel boring. I'll probably finish an area a day, which is what I was doing to begin with, been on the game quite awhile and only 11 hours.
Aside from Lufia though, I loaded up the character I started on Crimson Gem Saga and got a bit farther. Not too far into the game but like I stated in the CGS thread, it's a solid RPG. Story isn't bad, fairly good, your standard RPG gameplay in the vein of games mostly similar to Grandia or Lunar though standard turn based, as well as good music(especially the battle system.)

I've made quite a bit of progress in Pikmin 2 on GameCube now. I think I have about 8 hours on the clock, and I've collected over 50 treasures and cleared 60% of the debt. After I got all five colors, I stuck with the Awakening Wood area until I completed it. I have no idea just how long this game is supposed to last, but it seems like I'm moving at a good pace. I'm a little torn trying to figure out which game I like better. Pikmin 2 definitely seems like a "fuller" experience, but the first was the one that was fresh and original. I also liked what the timer contributed to the strategy and challenge, and I'm not so sure I'm too crazy about the new randomized underground areas. I miss the sense of having big, open areas to explore and trying to figure out the puzzle of how to reach and transport items. So far it feels like Pikmin 2 sort of hands the items over on a silver platter. Oh well, I still have plenty more to go, so these are just early impressions.

the atmosphere's decent enough to keep me playing, but the controls are an exercise in frustration. feels like they just took a ten-year-old game and slapped pretty graphics on it. the game doesn't know whether it wants to be an arcade shooter, a gow-style tps, or a somewhat cheesy horror game. it ends up feeling like a muddled mess.

I love the look of the game, yes the atmosphere, but the controls frustrated me so much that I had to give up on it..I kept trying over and over to get used to the controls with no avail..
Someday i'll try it again if I find the game cheap in some bargain bin..

Well, I cleared the debt in Pikmin 2 on GameCube, but apparently there's a whole ton of stuff left. I had almost all of the debt cleared just by completing Awakening Wood and the Valley of Repose, so it only took one treasure from the Perplexing Pool to hit 10000. So now I'm continuing to work on Perplexing Pool, and I haven't even touched the new area yet. It's nice that after beating the game they fill in the Piklopedia with blank spots so you can see what's left. I've encountered most of the monsters at this point, but I have just barely over half of the 201 treasures. I was actually guessing that there were only going to be 100, so that came as a surprise.

Or yellow. So it looks like a real SNES.
Also. I like the GB Tetris better when it comes to Nintendo Tetris titles. Music 2 is the same, but 1 and 3 are better on the GB I think. I still need to download that cool Tetris remix for Music 1 someone made and listen to it whenever playing.
Anyways. For games I'm playing. Since I finished Cybernator, thought I might try to finish Target Earth.
*edit*
Always liked Target Earth better, but after finishing stage 3, stage 4 makes the jump to hard as hell. Basically you alone against sometimes 10 enemies at once is kindof ridiculous when everything damages you(them shooting you, them blowing up, etc.)
Still. It's a great game and one day I'll beat it.
