I highly, HIGHLY, recommend you play Neutopia II. Its a great sequel that is better than the first. It's strange that you posted Neutopia 1 as I just now finished Neutopia II.

I plan on doing so although it's a little bigger of a game than I have time for right now. I'm going to write a review of Neutopia first (and finish that Wii Play review that's been like 95% done for a half a year), get my RTM obligation for next month done and then it's on to Neutopia II. :)
Really though I also want to have a permanent job again before I go into a long game so that I can relax and enjoy it. :beaten: I'm coming up on almost a month without solid employment income and after August's rent and expenses I'm going to be tapped out.

I finally beat the Iron Giant in Final Fantasy III on DS, but I don't feel very accomplished for doing so. I did end up caving in and using the team that everyone recommends, except I used a Sage instead of a Devout (but used it in the exact same way). I'm sure it's possible to use a different party, but I already spent around 20 hours just gaining experience and job levels. I didn't want to put in another tedious 20 hours getting my characters up to level 99 so they could survive without the two bards constantly doing defensive songs and using their percentage-based attack to do damage (with is the only really decent way to do damage, since even the best melee characters still do piddly damage). So, yeah, it may not be impossible to beat him in another way, but it's sure as heck not viable in a reasonable manner. Typical Final Fantasy bonus boss for ya.
For some much more satisfying gaming, I got back to Lagoon on Super Nintendo after ignoring it for weeks. It may not be the best adventure game ever, but I'm enjoying exploring and mapping places out. I completed the Dwarf Cave and found the Mint in Siegfried Castle. If I keep going at this rate, I bet I'll have it beat within the next couple days.

Best of luck. While I love the game Lagoon, eventually you get to a point where the game engine simply cannot handle the graphics. This leads to everything slowing down to the point you can barely get an attack off - and after waiting your turn for your attack frame to begin, once your sword swings the enemies are elsewhere. The only way I was able to plug on was by using a turbo controller and holding down the attack button, eventually causing a strike somewhere near when I wanted it to happen. However I got too frustrated and put it away, which is what I think I always do with Lagoon around that one point.
Once you get to that area (and you'll know, it's solid slowdown, not just a little here and there like elsewhere sometimes) let us know if you get through it. Perhaps I'll try to give it another go next week after California Extreme.
...or perhaps I have a bad copy of the game... somehow I remember going farther years ago when renting it... hmmm... I really must investigate. LOL

Burnout Revenge (XB) - I could never get tired of this game, although I wish I could do multi-player with some other people. I just spend hours unlocking new events and cars.
Destroy All Humans 2 (XB) - I just picked this one up at Blockbuster yesterday, so I haven't spent much time with it, but I'm waiting for it to get interesting.
Geometry Wars Galaxies (DS) - Stylus control sucks on this game and using the d-pad and buttons makes my hands cramp after a while.
Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (DS) - The stylus control is pretty cool, but they should have had a traditional control scheme as well.

Wow, that's really odd. I just beat the game today, and I can't say I had anything like that happen. What area was it that gave you trouble? It's strange because, for the most part, there's not much movement in the game that would warrant consistent slowdown. Most of the backgrounds are pretty static, and I only noticed a little slowdown here and there if I got a bunch of enemies on the screen at once. I always figured that if a game is defective it most likely wouldn't function at all or would do something wrong all throughout. It's weird that it would only cause one specific problem in one specific area. I wonder if it's possible that there was more than one print run. Maybe they caught a problem in the first batch and then released a fixed version. Though, Kemco was a pretty rinky-dink company and Lagoon was definitely no big-name title, so I kind of doubt they would do more than one print run, regardless of a problem. Then again, there were fixed versions of Card Fighters and Harvest Moon released for DS, and SNK Playmore and Natsume aren't exactly big companies. I don't know, it's an interesting mystery. :) It's a shame that your cart is giving you grief, though.
Anyway, I don't really understand the intense hatred that the game gets. It's not great, but I had fun with it. Really, the only flaws are the bad scrolling and the combination of the tiny sword and iffy hit detection in boss fights (I don't mind the sword the rest of the time since magic is an option). The sword wouldn't have been a problem if they just left it like it was in the X68000 original - always held out. Slashing with that tiny thing can be problematic, but it is kinda fun to just jam on the button like mad. And like pretty much everyone says, the music is pretty dang awesome. I especially like the fact that for much of the game, every area has its own distinct song.

Lately, I've been playing...
Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection (PS2) - Fantastic tables and great physics, not to mention incentive to keep playing as each table has its' own set of goals to try and accomplish. Very addictive, actually.
MTV Music Generator 2 (PS2) - I suppose that it's not really a 'game', but I 'play' it more than any other title that I own. My tracks would make P. Diddy choke on his Cristal (yeah, that was terrible...)
Every now and then I'll get the urge to delve into my back catalogue of games that I've purchased but never played. So, recently I tried out...
Warcraft 2 (Sat) - Took me awhile to get accustomed to this game because I was weened on the Command & Conquer style of play. It has some funny voices, though!
Hyper 3-D Pinball (Sat) - This was pleasantly surprising. There are about 7 tables to play on, each rendered in hi-res. The tables themselves, although fake, are really well-done with a lot to do on them. Too bad that the physics are a little.... off.

Now that I'm done with Lagoon, I've yet to seriously get into something new, but I have been playing a little Contra III on Super Nintendo. I wouldn't say I'm that great at run and gun games to begin with, but I especially stink at Contra games. I still haven't passed stage 3 on easy. :/
For some more casual playing, I finally hooked up my ColecoVision again for the first time since last summer, which was when I was first introduced to the system. I played a little of basically everything I got: Carnival, Cosmic Avenger, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Gorf, Lady Bug, Looping, Pepper II, Smurf: Rescue in Gargamel's Castle, Space Fury, Venture, and Zaxxon. For some reason, the games and system were giving me a lot of grief. I don't remember having such trouble getting them to work right last summer. I probably played Donkey Kong Jr. the most. I always spend a lot of time with Pepper II as well.

Tennis 2K2 (DC) - I believe I started a save file for this game years ago, but I need to check all my VMUs, so I just started a new one. This game is like a tennis RPG.
Unreal Tournament III (360) - It's like a fast-paced Gears of War game (yes, I know the game is made by the same people), but I like it a lot better than Gears. I've been a fan of the franchise since Unreal on the Dreamcast.

I'm up to Chapter 3 in Arcana on SNES, and this game is really surprising me. I thought it might be kind of tedious, but it actually moves at a good clip and is more addictive than I had imagined. For a company known for Lolo and Kirby, they did a fine job making an RPG. The music is really catchy too. It's done by the same guys that did Kirby games, and I can hear the similarities despite that it's a much different kind of atmosphere to the game. It's also fun playing a game that is almost entirely in first-person. I've played some games here and there that had some minor first-person parts, but I generally avoid games that use it all throughout because it makes me feel sick. But since this is old school and grid-based, I haven't had any problems. Seems like it won't be a huge commitment either, since if Nintendo Power is any indication, the game only has five chapters.

I haven't posted here in months, which is a shame, as I love recording my daily gaming :)
Since then, I bought a 360 and only after a couple of months have I gone back to playing other systems as well. Here's what I've been playing this weekend:
Friday:
Got my PC Engine out for the first time in ages. Tested Formation Soccer: Human Cup '90 as sometimes my d-pad and buttons are dodgy and there are sound issues and this game can test all of them easily. I sucked though and dislike the game. I then tried out Cyber Dodge which turns out to be quite a bad game of dodgeball with interesting teams such as one made out of the Aliens from the Aliens films. Finally tried out Klax and I didn't really like it.
After this I decided to play a few quick goes of Geometry Wars Galaxies on the Wii. I missed the hi-resolution of the xbox360 versions though.
Finally I gave WarTech: Senko No Ronde another go on the 360. Its my least played game. Last time I played I was learning the final boss with Cuilan and this time I managed to beat it. Woo! First 360 game I've completed!
Sunday:
Hanagumi Taisen Columns on the Sega Saturn. Haven't played it before and its really really good. Vs columns with the added ability of when you level up being able to throw blocks at your opponent or remove some rows of your own - giving you an offensive or defensive option, as well as the ability to store levels for more powerful moves. I went through the story mode with Sakura, whilst reading a translation. There were some simple puzzle challenge stages here also and then tackled the main game with Sakura which I managed to beat! That last boss was hard.
Monday:
Project Gotham Racing 4 on the 360, two-player. I love this game series. Played until our hands hurt. Then to calm down I played a little OutRun 2006:Coast 2 Coast on the PS2 and again wished it was in hi-def as the graphics are still stunning. Finally later I played a little GTA4 doing a couple of exciting missions.
Finally, this morning I tried out the classic one-player old-school traditional mode on Hanagumi Taisen Columns before I left the house.
