Still not playing much, but now at least I'm done with school. :) I'm finally getting burnt out on Mario Golf on my Game Boy Advance SP, but I only have a little bit left. I finished get all the tournament trophies, and I beat Luigi and Wario in Match games. I learned the difference between a circle and a star for Match game results, so I'm trying to get all stars, which means I have to beat them without saving (so no abusing of the trick). I almost got it with Gene Yuss, but after around 5 holes of sudden death, I made a dumb mistake. Pretty frustrating. I'll have to redo Wario as well, and I haven't beaten Mario at all.

So since I was getting tired of Mario Golf, I popped in good ol' Atari Anniversary Advance for some Centipede. I'm pretty rusty, so the best I managed was 40-some thousand.

Probably the most fun I've had gaming lately was playing a few brief multiplayer sessions of Mario Kart Wii. My boyfriend's little sister picked it up, and we've mostly been doing races. I've been ranking surprisingly high considering I have no experience with this game besides these few times we've played together.

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest(SNES)

I've owned this since it's came out on the SNES and I've always enjoyed it. The graphics, music, and even the gameplay. You'll see alot of people who started at FF7 attempt to sound all hardcore and bash FF Mystic Quest, and yeah, it's really not difficult, but then again, neither is FF7 and that's the favorite FF of the majority of gamers(mine is FF6 btw.) It's not how easy the game is, as long as it's enjoyable.

*edit*

Although, I don't see why people who started on FF7 can think they were hardcore RPG fans at that time.

Now that I'm on vacation, I finally can catch up on some stuff. :) Still haven't gotten back to my long neglected games I was playing months ago, but I tried out some recent purchases. I tried out some Persona 4 on PlayStation 2, but the intro is so dang long that I never got to any real gameplay. I did save my file so my boyfriend could play off of it, but he's just whining that it's not like SMT: Nocturne, just as he did with Persona 3. :P

Then I tried out The World Ends With You on DS, which I picked up at random while Christmas shopping just because so many people rave about it and it's somewhat in high demand (GameStop was actually selling it for $35 used, but I got it at Circuit City for $30 new). Even though the super hip and fashionable style of the game is a bit nauseating to me and I can totally do without the anorexic character designs, I gotta admit I had a lot of fun, and it does seem to have a lot of innovative ideas.

Ah, I love Christmastime. Time off and new games to try. :) The other night I popped Odin Sphere into my PlayStation 2 and what a beautiful game it is. You could show me a video of the game and tell me it's storybook style FMV, and I'd believe you. Why oh why can't more companies be developing gorgeous 2D games? I like what I've tried of the gameplay so far too. It seems like it'll put up a nice challenge.

I also played some Pikmin 2 on GameCube. I don't even want to know how much my boyfriend had to spend to get me the game, but I'm definitely appreciative. Seems like roughly more of the same, but that's a good thing in this case. It's a little weird not having a time limit, though. I'm wondering where the difficulty will come from.

And since he can't resist giving me a joke gift every Christmas, I tried out Mortal Kombat on my Game Boy Advance SP, which is a reference to the ridiculous present that was given in last year's DP Secret Santa (I like to tell him about the silly stuff that goes on here like Bio Force Ape and Joe's hilarious response to the dumbass as he tried to sign up for another Secret Santa, which necessitated an explanation of course). Too bad he didn't do his research and gave me the black and white game rather than the GBA one. :P I don't know why he must torment me with stupid presents, but I guess this is better than Bubsy 3D, haha.

And while it's not new, I finally got back into Valkyrie Profile: Toga o Seoumono on DS after what had to be at least a couple months of letting it sit idle. I've been apprehensive about getting back into the game not only because it's been so long but also because of how frustrating it had become. Thank goodness I got past that horrid final battle in chapter 3, so I was able to ease back into it with some story scenes and easier optional battles. This chapter actually has two optional battles rather than the usual one, so that'll help out a little. My battery was running low, so I'm saved in the middle of the first one right now.

And just because they were there, I decided to play some New Super Mario Bros. and Mario Kart DS, which are being borrowed from my boyfriend's brother. I actually found New Super Mario Bros. rather underwhelming. I don't think the controls are tight enough, and it just feels derivative, beyond the addition of more recent Mario abilities that really have no place in a Mario sidescroller, like the wall jump. Mario Kart DS is pretty cool, though. I really have an urge to get back into that series since I haven't seriously played a Mario Kart since Mario Kart 64. I didn't put much effort into Double Dash, I didn't play the GBA one at all, and my experience with the DS and Wii games is very limited. Oh well, someday.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention I've been practicing Centipede via Atari Anniversary Advance on my Game Boy Advance SP, like usual. I've gotten up to 60-some thousand, but I still haven't reached my old high score.

Not much of a fan of the game as it's a huge grind. I just can't really stop playing it after I started. Thankfully I'm near the end of the first part of the game. I'm falling back into Valkyrie Profile: Toga o Seoumono on DS quite nicely now. It seems like tri-Ace realized what hell the final battle in chapter 3 was, so chapter 4 starts off fairly easy. I had no trouble with the two optional battles, and the first story battle was possibly even easier. I now have access to weapons that have Soul Crushes for every character, which makes a world of a difference both in killing off enemies and in racking up a lot of karma. I actually managed double karma in the first story battle, but the rewards weren't that spectacular (probably because it wasn't very hard to do so). I'm on the second story battle now, and I've lost a couple times. It's another one of those "protect the NPC" battles, and of course the NPC has dirt stupid AI. He's also like... a mile away, so even with everyone dashing, he's still dying before I reach him. It's getting a bit frustrating, but at least the enemies aren't too hard for me to take out. If I can just reach him fast enough, I should get through it fine.

I also finally started up my Xbox 360 again. I tried out the pack-in Sega Superstars Tennis, and while it's not terrible, it's not great either. Mainly it just made me wish I was playing Mario's Tennis on Virtual Boy, hehe. I also tried out more of my Secret Santa gifts. I popped in Enchanted Arms, and I played long enough to bust out of the school. I've played a lot of RPGs with effeminate guys, but I think this may be my first with an openly gay transvestite, haha. It's pretty funny because usually From Software makes such manly games like Armored Core, King's Field, and Shadow Tower. I also tried out Blue Dragon. Seems basically like Dragon Quest VIII if it wasn't cel-shaded. Really nice intro too. It's exciting right from the get-go, and it gets to some gameplay pretty fast. Way too many RPGs these days take forever to get going, or they try to make it exciting in the wrong kind of way, like Infinite Undiscovery's endless chase scenes.

Lot's of stuff. I've been taking a renewed interest in xbox games lately...and some of the not-too-popular ones in general. Case in point, picked up the supposedly abysmal "Bruce Lee" game after reading some favorable recent reviews that claimed that no-one gave it a decent chance when it was released initially. Many times that seems to be the case, so what the heck. I'll give it a shot....it only cost me $2.50

Playing Ferrari Challenge on PS3. Likewise, this game got trashed, but I'm finding that it's just a case of spending some seat time with it. Can't stop playing Puzzle Quest on the psp. I've made a concious decision to give some bones to my psp next year...and got 5 games for it this week as a show of commitment...lol. My 7 yr old has finished 3 games this week and is now playing Mario Strikers on the Cube, where he is on the final championship tier already. Scary stuff.
