Fully into Ferrari Challenge on the PS3. I think that I can say that it's becoming the best racing game that I've ever played....and it might end up topping Gran Turismo. How big a statement is that? My gamertag is TurismoFan99. If you haven't seen it running, the rain effects will blow your mind. Other than that, STILL can't stop playing Puzzle Quest on the PSP.

Are you using a wheel? Been debating getting this, tempted to use a gift card I have for it but I fully expect it to see a price drop as soon as I purchase it (Though its yet to happen).

Also, are you using a wheel? I have one of those 900 degree Logitech wheels, so I'm interested with how well it interacts with such a controller.

The Last Remnant on 360. The level scaling is really annoying me; I decided to grind 17 levels due to having trouble with a boss, and now it's even harder. It's bordering on ridiculous. I think I may put this one on the back burner for now.

Still playing 7th Saga and GTA4(or saying I am even though they're just sitting in the systems,) just started SFA3 to finish it.

I think it's the best SF title, though I personally dislike SF as a fighting game in comparison to other really big name titles because you have to put so much more effort into mastering the game. I'd say that I'm bit better than alot of players, but I'd say any big fans of the series would beat me like nothing.

Played a little Sonic CD (SCD) tonite. The more that I play this game, the more that I loathe it. I realize that this game, with its large levels and time-travel aspect, is more focused on exploration than all-out speed, but when I keep running into objects and/or enemies every 10 seconds, or jump off of springs that lead straight up into a patch of spikes, it is very hard to not want to chuck my whole Sega CD into the wall. Most people seem to think that this is the end all/be all of the Sonic games... those people need to remove their rose-colored glasses and play it again!

I just got back from MAGfest Sunday night, but I actually didn't do much gaming over there. I figure why play stuff I can play at home when I can be hanging out with friends and attending concerts and panels. Some portable gaming helped out a ton with traveling and such, though. I played some Centipede via Atari Anniversary Advance on my Game Boy Advance SP like usual, and I also played some more of the borrowed Mario Kart DS. I believe I've beaten all 8 cups on 50cc.

At MAGfest, the arcade set-up was much more impressive than last year's, but I didn't get much time for it. I just played a little Magical Drop III and Metal Slug X on a big red Neo Geo. The latter I have at home, and even with that advantage, I still stink at it. :P I only played through the first couple stages. I've never played Magical Drop III before, but I'm decent at Magical Drop 2 so I was able to get up to the final boss before I quit (or at least one of the final bosses, if there's more than one).

And we had a mini Neo Turf Masters tournament via emulation. My boyfriend and I won. :)

But right now my focus is on beating Valkyrie Profile: Toga o Seoumono on DS. Overall, things are going much more smoothly now than back in Chapter 3. Chapter 4 annoyed me a bit because after that "protect the NPC" battle, they pulled the "go straight to the next battle without saving" bullcrap again. It's as if they want to purposely annoy the player. Thankfully, I beat that second battle on my first try, and now I'm in Chapter 5, which I think is the last. I almost have the second battle in it polished off, and they haven't been too bad. They haven't had much of any story significance either, though, so they're probably saving the really tough battles. I haven't had any optional battles available this chapter, so maybe these battles have replaced those.

Quit 7th Saga for good. Got all the runes so I'm close to finishing, but I honestly can't stand the game. May pick it up and finish later.

Played Marvel vs. Capcom at a friends last night. I used to have fond memories of the game. Not anymore. The game plays so slow for a 2d fighter and the only combos consist of a pressing in order, low, low, mid, mid, high, high, etc, or low, low, mid, mid, high(air,) then follow up. The game is just boring. I used Ryu/Strider first as a warm up, restarted and switched to Strider/Wolverine as I personally think Ryu plays like ass in comparison to his SF versions. Afterwards, I stayed with either Strider, Wolverine, or Gambit as my chosen characters.

Sonic Unleashed still.

I am about 99% of the way through. I am fighting what appears to be the last boss, but since SA1, I get to be Super Sonic, and I am not Super Sonic fighting this thing, so I am guessing a 2nd fight.

Yeah, the main last level, wow. It was a mix between Werehog and hedgehog and there was much more emphasis on hedgehog.

I beat the level with a clocked time of 79 minutes. It was seriously the level that would never end.

Chapter 5 in Valkyrie Profile: Toga o Seuomono on DS is taking considerably longer than the previous chapters. I've beaten at least four battles now, with more to do, and I have around five hours added to the clock from this chapter. I'm nearing 25 hours all together. All in all, this chapter has been quite enjoyable. The challenge is there, but it's not totally overbearing and unfair as in the past. I've been getting double karma fairly often too, which is a nice change of pace. I got Wylfred decked out in equipment from those bonuses. For some reason I can't seem to get myself to complete more than one battle a day, though, so progress has been a little slow going.

I also popped in Super Robot Taisen 64 into my Nintendo 64 to give it a try. It's a shame that the Gundam Wing characters are about the only ones I'm familiar with beyond just knowing of the existence of the franchises. I've never been big on mecha, but that's no problem as I love strategy RPGs. This one doesn't seem too shabby, but I'd definitely need to invest more time into it to really see how it ticks.

And finally, I very briefly played GripShift on my PSP, after charging it because the dang thing is always dead if it's not being regularly played. Seems mildly entertaining when I ignore the annoying "hip" style of it, but it's just getting flipped anyway.

Since I got my Genesis 3 in the mail last week, it's been Genesis all the way! Last night, I decided to try out a few that were in a shipping box from when I moved last year.

Virtual Pinball (Man, this game has over 20 tables and it was designed by some guy named Bill Budge, which is perhaps the greatest dev name EVER!)
El Viento (This one was pretty detailed for a 16-bit game.)
Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse (This is one great platformer. I wish I'd tried it before now.)
Contra: Hard Corps (I didn't get very far, but it was fun.)
Street Fighter II: Championship Edition (This one was hard to play due to the stiffness of the Genesis 3's controller.)
Shadow Dancer (This one reminded me a lot of the Ninja Gaiden arcade. I'm not sure why.)

I was never really a fan of the Genesis, even though I owned one back in the day, and I had tried all these years ago when I picked them up at EB when they were clearing them out at 75% off, except for Contra and El Viento which were thrift pickups, but I'm really starting to become a Genesis fan.

But wait! There's more! While I was playing Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley, and Gotcha!, I would occasionally pause the game to post thoughts and comments on my twitter (http://twitter.com/therealthing). Just for fun, here they are:

-More NES? Why not? Just hooked up the Zapper to play some Duck Hunt.
-The orange Zapper I'm using is the only thing from my childhood NES collection that I still have today.
-Something I never noticed when I was a kid: the dog always holds up a duck w/ a green head, even if the duck you shot looks different.
-Final Game A (1 Duck) score: Rd. 15, 257,800. Moving on to Game C - clay shooting.
-Years ago when I didn't have an NES, I tried to play a flash version of Duck Hunt w/ a mouse. Not bad, but not as good as the real thing.
-Final clay shooting score: Rd. 22, 497,000.
-Moving on to Hogan's Alley - Trick Shot mode, to be specific.
-Final Trick Shot score: Rd. 16, 108,300.
-Playing Game A now. On another note, Hogan's Alley reminds me of this Simpsons quote: "You missed the baby, you missed the blind man..."
-Final Game A score: Rd. 33, 44,000.
-Time for more NES Zapper goodness, and a game I've never played before: Gotcha! The Sport.
-Too bad you can't blast the snowmen in this level.
-Im in ur base paintballin ur d00dz and stealin ur flag
-Billy and Jimmy Lee (for the non-gamers, they're from Double Dragon) would be right at home in this city level.
-Where do you think you're going with MY flag? Have some paint!
-I'll be taking that ammo, thank you very much.
-Forgot to mention that mohawks are the order of the day in the city level.

I'm up to what I assume is the final boss in Valkyrie Profile: Toga o Seoumono on DS, on the path for the best ending. Chapter 5 ended with a bit of a gauntlet. I had to beat three (or was it four?) battles without any hard saves. Thankfully I got through everything on the first try, but it was a bit disappointing when I just barely came up shy of double karma on two of them. I thought the game ended in Chapter 5, but I guess that's only the last "real" chapter. After it ended, I got the option to save in "Chapter 6", but all it is is a cinematic sequence, an FMV, and then the final boss. They do throw in the option to visit a shop before fighting the battle, though, which is nice, but it sucks not being able to save my purchases. Every time I die I'm stuck watching the story scene and buying and equipping my junk all over again, argh. This battle is quite the doozy too. I haven't even gotten up to the boss yet because it's guarded by several flames, each of a different element, that do nothing but cast magic three times over, and when they combo together, it's instant death. Maybe through some finagling with Reflect Sorcery I can survive.

We also had a friend over for the weekend, but I didn't play that much. I just played some Super Star Solider on my PC Engine Duo-RX, but we all stunk and couldn't get past stage 2. Man, what happened to me being halfway decent at it? Then later we played some MAME, and I played through most of Arabian Magic. Pretty fun, and I'm not even big on beat 'em ups.
