I'm currently playing Pitfall on the 2600. My goal is to get all 32 treasures within the 20 minutes. I've spent all weekend making my own maps and noting all the shortcuts. So far I've been able to get 31 treasures before time runs out, so I'm almost there.

High score so far is 105,231 with 31 treasures gathered.

Aside from the occasional go at a random Dreamcast game... the only game I've been seriously playing is...

GBA - Fire Emblem
This game is long. I've had this game since about the time in came out in 03' or whatever...and I still haven't beaten it. Recently got the urge to complete it before I threw some money at another strategy game... and I was really hoping I would be wrapping this up pretty quickly, but it keeps going on, and on! Taking all those sidequests probably isn't helping though ^^; Of course, it's a great game. Just getting kind of sick of it! Either way, onward march!

I didn't know that taking out dwayne meant you did not get the cool apartment until i talked with a friend that has already beat the game. I would say i am probably about halfway through.

Still, no codes. Everybody around me that plays gta, including myself, are notorious for busting out code on gta games as soon as possible. I have avoided them so far.

I only used codes in gta games when i have reached a point where i can't go any further with my own skill.

This game is pretty fun though.

Even though it's been, what, over a week since my last update, I STILL haven't gotten those last two Pokemon I need in Pokemon Pinball on my Game Boy Advance SP. I don't know what's going on, but I'm having absolutely horrible luck with the game. It's probably mostly mental; I'm probably just getting burnt out, but the big problem is that the slots seem to be against me. I'm having the hardest time in the world get ball savers. It's just that crappy "small" bonus over and over, with the equally crappy "BIG" and multiplier bonuses on occasion. And I keep making dumb mistakes too. The Blue board may be more fun for beginners, but it sucks if you want to have complete control over the ball. And when I do manage to have a decent game, then it won't let me get to Saffron City. Argh, it just hates me for some reason. I'm really starting to get frustrated with it, and I'm sure that's not helping me any.

I also got the Xbox 360 back for a little while and played some more Infinite Undiscovery. I'm up to Fayel now, ready to break its chain, but I took a side trip to collect some treasure since I just learned that Balbagan can break those cracked rocks.

I also played some Monkey Target with friends via Super Monkey Ball for GameCube. We were trying to recapture the good ol' days a little in which we'd play Monkey Target and Mario Kart 64 every weekend, but I don't think there's any going back to how things were six years ago. We're just in a different mind set these days, so it doesn't feel the same. Anyway, we played two games, one with 10 rounds and one with 15. I won the 10-round game, but I did horrible in the 15-round, scoring even worse than the previous game.

It was quite the struggle, but I FINALLY caught all 151 Pokemon in Pokemon Pinball on my Game Boy Advance SP. :) I guess that makes me the Pokemon Master. :P The game wasn't cutting me any slack, but I kept trying over and over until I could survive through my bad luck with the slots. After I got Lapras, I had another accidental map move, so I had to start a whole new game to catch Hitmonchan. I also got my highest score on the Blue board in that Lapras game, but now it's time to move on.

So for my next Game Boy game, I didn't want another collect-a-thon, and I didn't want another long commitment. Just some no-frills action. I don't have many GBC games left to beat actually, so I'll have to hit the GBA games in not long. But out of what's left, I decided to go with Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge, and I've been surprised at how addictive it is. I didn't expect this update to be very good, but it's actually pretty true to the formula, except it has actual stages with unique level designs, which is a nice touch. This is the only Frogger game I own surprisingly, and it's giving me a nice fix after not playing the game in goodness knows how many years. It's making me feel a little nostalgic since I used to love playing Frogger back in 7th grade on these weirdo ancient computers (ancient even by 1992's standards) that we had in my math and science room (since I had the same teacher for both classes). I would usually get 100s on my math tests, so while the rest of the class would go over them and correct their mistakes, I was excused to get on a computer. :) There were a bunch of games, but all I remember that well was a text adventure that was programmed either by the teacher (all that was on those computers were self-made programs that tied directly to the science lessons) or some old students since it was actually about some big mysterious adventure happening at our school, haha, and Frogger. It was a simplistic version in black and white, but it still managed to be fun. Anyway, as for Frogger 2, I'm already half way through the fourth of five areas, and I've had a lot of fun replaying stages for the records. It's confusing without a manual, though. I easily figured out that a frog icon means no record, a gem for collecting all 16 gems in a stage, a clock for setting a record time, and a trophy for getting both the gem and time records; however, I noticed I was getting a gold gem and a gold trophy on occasion. Eventually I guessed that it took getting all the gems without dying, and thus having a perfect run. The star rating is still a mystery to me, though.

And my Valkyrie Profile: Toga o Seoumono arrived, and I've been eagerly cracking into that on DS. So far I'm really impressed and enjoying myself. It's definitely an unusual game, blurring the line between strategy RPG and traditional RPG (and the original Valkyrie Profile already blurred the line between turn-based and real-time). A lot of people are calling it a strategy RPG, but I wouldn't go that far. tri-Ace is calling it an "Action RPG", and considering once you get into actual combat it becomes the same Valkyrie Profile we know and love, that's what I'm classifying it by. There's clearly some inspiration from Final Fantasy Tactics, though, especially in the sprites, although they do have their own unique touch and I love the smooth animation. I adore the Kou & You Yoshinari art making its return too. It's a shame that a lot of the music was recycled from the first Valkyrie Profile, though, but it's used effectively and intelligently at least. The plot seems pretty strong and depressing like the first game, but I obviously can only get so much out of it not being fluent in Japanese. Right now I'm just about to start Chapter 2, but apparently I have to choose between one of three branches to take, which'll determine which characters I'll recruit.

Well, I said I didn't want a long commitment, and just a couple days later, I'm already done playing Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge on my Game Boy Advance SP, both in terms of beating the game and getting a gold trophy on every stage. I still don't know what the star rating is all about, but since they're not listed on the records screen, I don't think they're important. Even though I blew through it fast, many of the stages did present a nice challenge, especially to pull off perfect runs. Surprisingly good stuff all in all.

For even more difficulty, Valkyrie Profile: Toga o Seoumono is getting nuts for me. I decided to take the Chapter 2 path that starts at the same castle the game began at and Hugo joined me again for a little while. I believe I've done four battles in the chapter so far (actually I'm saved in the middle of the fourth), and one was an optional battle. The story battles have been getting REALLY hard. They keep throwing all these mage enemies at me, which have twice as much HP as my guys do, and when they combo on my guys, it's basically instant death even from full health. I love a good challenge, but it's a little crazy at times. o_O If they bring this game to the U.S., which I imagine they will, I wonder if they're going to dumb it down at all. I can already picture tons of players whining.
