Well I haven't used it in a long time but I pulled out my old afterburner modded GBA. I performed the mod to a Japanese GBA (I wanted a solid black one and it was only a week later the black models came out in the US :/ ) years ago however about a year ago the V3 dimmer switch (which are total crap in my opinion) began to have problems. It would constantly dim upon adjustment. In other words pressing select would cause the backlight to dim down and shut off. (I have it wired for select + L to dim and select + R to brighten) After the problem and not wanting to open and remove the dimmer chip, it pretty much just sat on the shelf. However the backlight can be brought up to 100% by holding select and tapping up R upon startup. After that if I need to press select I just hold R when I press it and the backlight doesn't dim. I should just open the damn thing and fix it but the install was just so clean...

Well Dragon Warrior I & II GBC just sold. Why is it I can have a game up for over a month and as soon as I put a few hours into it all of a sudden the offers stack up. LOL Yeah, I could play it on the NES or on DC via emulation but I have to be near the TV for that. So I had to find something else to play...

This game can be quite aggravating at times...Whoever thought up if you stray just a little bit away from the soldiers you are supposed to be near it's game over..
This really sucks when you are trying to get a better/safer firing position on an enemy and your soldiers won't move..If you do move away for a better spot and your in eyes view of them it's still game over..
Man how many times have I started over due to this..That and them jumping in front of me while I'm firing...I hate being forced into a spot where I know I'm going to die due to having to stay near stupid soldiers.
This game makes me curse a loud at times ..(where are you going soldier?....F YU
At one point I had no choice to move away to another side to get a position on approaching vehicles..As I went for the last truck the game was about to Game over me for being to far,yet I had no where else to stand to shoot the truck..My men won't move..
I must of did this part 30 times over trying to get the equal spot between my men and a spot to shoot the truck.
Shooting all the suicidal driven trucks was a must or again game over.
The mission I just played I kept getting killed at the spot where they wanted me to be or..game over.
So I just took my butt and hid it behind another soldier and let them fire away.
This part of a mission had no mandatory parts for me to do....Then I was shuffled into rushing enemy soldiers.
The way I would play this by getting a good firing position wasn't allowed-(game over)..I was being forced to run straight into the enemy soldiers.
The other major screw up is:
Sometimes nothing happens, the game seems to get stuck..My men will not move and I can see that the current objective hasn't been completed.
The reason for this is..An enemy has hidden themselves and they need to be killed to progress.
Sometimes they are hidden to far away for me to get to and if I stray to far away from my stuck men it's game over..Ohh that'll drive a person nuts.
I think the reloading times of weapons might be the most aggravating other thing in the game,...If it takes an American soldier that long to reload a weapon then something is just not right.
Problem with the reloading is sometimes the game will jam you in a reloading sequence where you can't move/getting you killed.I wished they added a void reload way to duck,or move..(me=Come On,Come on Reload,Reload.
Nonetheless I like this game..It is very satisfying when you do something right..the way you want to do it if able..
I do have a feeling I may get through 80% of the game and get stuck.....

Trying to fix and play Various scratched up Dreamcast Games I've acquired through the years.
Using a new Disc DR.that I got for like $3.00(flea market)
Sonic Adventure was the first Disc I attempted to repair and I fixed it..It works great..
Crazy Taxi loads up to the start up screen and says Can't read disc..
WWF Royal Rumble still doesn't work though the disc looks great..
I don't know if I should bother trying to fix the stack with the Disc Dr or just have the disc resurfaced..

Forza Motorsport..
Trying to link up two copies of the game..(game says system link 2-8 players)
I can't get it to work..Each Xbox system only wants to create it's own game,It won't find the created by other system game..(And I know my link cable is working as I tried another set of linkable games)
Plus if I back out of a created link game it says that I broke a connection with another Xbox.
I'm stumped
The Forza Motorsport game on the right is the one that came with the new Xbox..
It's just thrown in the xbox box and isn't sealed..

I managed to beat the level in area 7 of Boxxle that I was stuck on, so now I'm in area 8 and have beaten about 4 of its levels. Area 8 has some pretty interesting levels, like the first larger sprites level I've seen in probably dozens and dozens of levels. I like these stages because they can be really challenging, but because they're so small, they move really fast and there's no tedious walking or pushing over long distances. Needless to say, I've already beaten this one. :P It's a shame there are so few stages like this beyond the first few levels in the game. Another interesting level in area 8 has a huge checkerboard diamond of blocks on dots, but in the very center is an empty dot and the one unplaced box is on the outside of the diamond. I've yet to give this one a try.
In Legend of the River King, I'm going crazy catching Rudd. I swear, I've caught 50+ of them and STILL no record-breaking fish. At least I finally caught a record-breaking Common Carp. Those were taking forever too.
I also played a tiny bit of Skydiving Extreme on PlayStation just for the heck of it. :P

InsaneDavid: Level... 27?? Am I reading that right? How fast do the blocks go?
Yup, level 27 - 268,439 points - 277 lines.
Previous record was level 25 - 169,573 points - 256 lines.
So almost 100,000 points more but only +21 lines. Although all this did was make me set a goal that I'll never eclipse, which is to break 300 lines. LOL
The blocks really don't get all that fast (to me, don't get me wrong, they're moving) until after 150 or so, before then I'm usually still dropping them faster than they accelerate. After 150 I re-analyze here and there when I get a moment so I let a few fall at least part of the way at drop speed. Also since it's Tetris DX the background color changes every 50 lines, after 250 it changes to black. "That's no big deal, the well has been black for years, it was originally black" - true, but the tile color set has the square block made of matching colors, so only the inner pattern of the squares can be seen and it always throws me off for a moment. Kinda like the black stages in Q*bert, nothing really changes, but it takes a second to adjust.
By then the blocks are flying. They'll cover 1/3 of the screen in the time it takes to flip one around completely. What's funny is I was having a crappy run up until 100 or so, getting stuck with a gap in the middle and bottom - all the way to the top - work back down and clear them out just to get stuck with another and have the stack rise again. I also wasn't really trying for a high score, I was sitting at my computer passing time while the diagnostic programs updated and ran. First time I glanced over at the lines counter it was like "210" LOL didn't even seem like I was that far along.

The next Sniper mission was cool....I was able to pass it with not much of an astounding difficulty.(a fun mission)
The last Sniper Mission forget about it.
I love the layout and mission premise but the biggest thing wrong with this game is:
The weapons issued to you to carry out a mission is sometimes not the best suited for the mission.
If you were able to select your own weapons for a mission or hot swap to other soldiers this game would be great..
Reloading weapons stinks...The time it takes is ridiculous..
Example..Have 5-10 plus.... enemies rushing over a bridge coming from all over the place...You have a sniper rifle with 5 shots...After the 5th shot you are forced to reload all 5 bullets..If you try one at a time after each shot you totally lose where you are aiming and it's slow..You can't be zoomed out and reload..
You can't reload one bullet to save your ass...So many times I have an enemy bearing down on me and I'm empty, reloading five shells and I can't move..WTF!!,,Frustration comes to mind badly.....I'm forced to die.
My wrists hurt bad from shaking the controller so hard...Reload,reload,Come on reload damn it..
Before you know it you are overrun and your comrades couldn't hit a barn if they were right in front of it...they all get killed.
I tried this mission in the few ways it allows me to...Nothing I do prevents the mass losses ending the mission everytime..I have no grenades to help either.
I wind up trying to climb down a ladder to take on the enemies surrounding my tower that I can't hit with the sniper rifle.
The 45 is like squirting them with water..It's a joke.,,I was laughing as I was shooting an enemy, standing right up to his back and I had no affect on him...I may get one or two kills but they kill me quickly being so many of them, that's if I get that far...
This is the improper way IMO to try and do the mission but I have no choice due to the stupid reload set-up the programmers did in this game..I tried it so many ways but the game only allows you a limited area to keep you in..
At one point I found a better spot to shoot from then game over..I went too far,and yet it was only a few feet away.
Give me another weapon and I could do this mission no problem.
Too bad as I liked this game..I'm only halfway through......I'm hoping some codes come out for it so I can continue someday..
The only thing I can do now is play the other missions over to bring up my stats..
Otherwise Shelf it..
Maybe I'll go pick up Black or play Gun..

I beat a couple more levels in area 8 of Boxxle, and even though I played it a little, I didn't manage to make any more progress in Legend of the River King (damn Rudd!)
I also played a tiny bit of Magical Drop 2 on my consolized MVS, but this time was the first time I've played it in home mode.
And in my biggest gaming excitement lately, my copy of Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth for PSP arrived, which I tried out on my bro-in-law's PSP. Unfortunately, since I don't own my own PSP and don't plan to get one any time soon, I won't be able to really play it much, but it's not a big deal since it's essentially the same as the PlayStation version. The new FMV is very nice, though, and the widescreen support is great. However, there are some things that are better in the original too (such as the loading times). It's also really fun to finally play the Japanese version of the game and hear all the original voices and notice all the changes made to the US version. In the mean time, I REALLY need some spare time to get back into my current file in the US version of Valkyrie Profile on PlayStation, which I haven't been able to touch in weeks. :(

I polished off another area in Boxxle, and I swear these little cutscenes are getting more and more hilarious. Boxxle guy just needs to wise up and realize that stuck-up ho is never going to like him no matter how many gifts he gives her, and she's just not worth all that hard work pushing crates. :P I checked out area 9 briefly, and while there are no larger sprites stages, I do like how most of the stages seem rather compact.
I played a little more Legend of the River King, and yet again, I made no progress because I STILL can't get a damn record-breaking Rudd.
I also played a bit of Metal Slug 3 on MVS with my boyfriend. :) It was a birthday present for him, and since I bought it for him at his request, I saw no need to hide it from him until his birthday when he already knew it was coming. Anyway, it's REALLY cool to finally have a Metal Slug for our MVS, and 3 is our favorite.

playing:
PS2 - Shadow Hearts 3
Great game so far, very addicting. I never knew that behind the scenes Al Capone had help running things from a big talking cat. Played pretty much all day, got to Rio De Janiero, got all the items in town and saved. Nothing else to do on this rainy and snowy weekend, so I think tomorrow I shall be playing even more.

Super Princess Peach last night. I got myself up to level 3-5. I've been playing it 20-30 minutes every night before bed.

Mucking about with the NES emulator for GBA on my DS trying out loads of different shoot-em-ups. Ending up setting down on 1943 for a good while.
The start of the F1 season made me want to play some racing, so Le Mans 24 Hours on the Dreamcast it was.

Bah, what a dissapointment this year is going to be, V8 formula, no Belgian Grand Prix due to track work (LEAVE SPA THE HELL ALONE), the San Marino GP is going to be on freaking network TV in the US instead of the Speed Channel... :/ I swear, does the FIA even monitor the F1 circus anymore or are their heads up their asses during the whole season?
Anyway... PlayStation - Dance Dance Revolution 3rd Mix (import), it's been so cold lately I've been playing DDR a lot. LOL

Ah, I never replied after reading about your Tetris game last week. I thought that was real impressive! Tomorrow, Tetris will be my game I think...
BTW, do you start at level 9? Because if you don't, you might reach your goal of 300 with "creative use of options" (as mentioned under article 22 of the gamer's handbook).

Thanks. :) I always start at Level 0, always have. Starting at Level 9 allows you to build a BS score since Tetris' are worth far more at Level 9 than at the lower levels. It also requires more stamina to be able to build high scores from Level 0 as it takes more time to craft the point totals. I've seen people that have gotten over 500 lines, but never in person. 300 doesn't seem like a huge achievement to me compared to other high totals, but it'd still be massive for me. I also don't play all that often, just pick it back up here and there. LOL

How is Dragon Quest 8 by the way. I was kind of looking to buy it and thought it would be a good game, plus with the demo of FFXII it was high up on my purchase list for awhile. But, I didn't want to spend the $50 on it, even used it's like $45 around here. I'd rather spend this money on about 5-7 good SNES games....I think. Is it worth my money?

Smackdown vs. Raw 2006 on PSP, managed to pick it up for £20 new from a local shop and haven't put it down since. :) Much better than HCTP, the last smackdown game I played.
