3DO - Star Control II
Damn this game is awesome! I played for about two hours before telling myself to turn the 3DO off and come back to it once I don't have any other long-haul games on the agenda. It reminds me of Solar Winds coupled with the go anywhere, do anything gameplay of Wing Commander Privateer. The sheer size of the universe alone opens up near endless exploration possibilities. Makes me even happier that I dug through the commons in the back of my favorite vendor's stall at the flea market - excellent game, especially for $1.00.
SMS - HangOn / Safari Hunt
SMS - SpellCaster
Quick plays of each, just making sure they work. HangOn / Safari Hunt will complete the SMS I have up for sale. I played both my copies of SpellCaster, the new boxed complete one I will be keeping and my old loose copy which will go up for sale.
SCD - Dark Wizard
SCD - Dungeon Master II Skullkeep
Quick plays of these as well. If I do decide to really play Dungeon Master II I'm going to need to buy (yet another, I keep selling them) SCD Backup Cartridge since it requires 100 blocks and won't start without the open space. Dark Wizard looks very interesting, a SRPG that I'd actually like it seems. Smooth, relaxing gameplay.
NES - Hollywood Squares
NES - Kid Kool
NES - Kiwi Kraze
NES - Metroid
NES - TaleSpin
Just making sure they all work after cleaning, which they all do. Hollywood Squares is probably my favorite NES game show game, been years since I had played a cartridge of it. Kid Kool sucks as much as ever and I could never get used to the crappy pallete of Kiwi Kraze but I'm glad to have them both. :) Metroid and TaleSpin are both going up for sale.
SAT - NiGHTS into Dreams...
Again, just making sure it works before it goes up for sale, which it does.

I polished off Metal Walker on my Game Boy Advance SP after beating the game and completing my Scan Data list as much as I can. Even though you can't actually recruit the enemies, I guess Capcom wanted to be annoying and rip off Pokemon since it seems that the list can't be completed without linking up with another player. You have to pick a transceiver at the beginning of the game - green or red - and apparently you can't encounter every monster in the game on either. The whole system is kinda dumb to begin with since the only thing you get from scanning monsters is the ability to buy a capsule unique to that enemy, but virtually no capsules are needed in the game beyond the HP recovery items. Other than that, all I ever really bought were Analyzers (to scan the data) and the item that reduces the encounter rate. Battle-only items are pretty useless since a normal attack is generally stronger, and even if you have a powerful item, you're just as likely to get screwed over by the enemy getting to it first. Oh well, anyway, time to retire this game and move on.
And keeping with the whole bouncing a ball around and collecting monsters theme, I decided to start Pokemon Pinball as my next Game Boy game. So far I'm having a lot of fun with it, catching a bunch of Pokemon and getting the evolutions of a few. This is still what Pokemon is to me - the original 150 monsters. The only other Pokemon game I own is Pokemon Blue, so I haven't kept up with the franchise much at all. And the only time I ever watched the show was when it was brand new. I lost interest in that long before they got to the newer additions to the line-up. Granted, I'm sure it didn't help that I wasn't a little kid. :P
Oh, and I forgot to mention in my last post that I played a tiny bit of Puzzle Link on Neo Geo Pocket Color. I was just messing around with one of the systems I had lent out and finally got back.

More Pokemon Pinball on my Game Boy Advance SP. It's very addictive, but I'm getting frustrated that I can't keep my games going longer. I really like pinball video games (and pinball, period), but I can't seem to get especially good at any of them. It just all seems too random to me, yet there are people who can play practically indefinitely so there's gotta be a way to stay in complete control. I don't know how I'm ever going to last long enough to get the rarer Pokemon in the locations you have to work to get to. I've only gotten to the second group of locations twice by pure luck. Anyway, I have about 60 Pokemon now, and it's starting to get a bit tough encountering ones I don't already have. I'm still missing plenty of evolutions, though, so I have to recapture those ones regardless.

Limited myself to only one game lately because, well, I actually have to do some real work these days, haha.
While everyone is playing their beloved MM9 (...sigh, someday..), I am continuing along with...
GC - Mega Man Network Transmission
Yup, still goin' strong. I just got to the "old net" level or whatever it's called--can't really describe more than that, as I don't want to spoil anything for those who still want to play it...I think I'm pretty far along though? I've fought quite a few "bosses", and the difficulty is kind of hit or miss on them. Some i'll be fighting over and over, but some I beat on the first try. Getting farther in the game so far hasn't really effected the boss difficulty (Network Transmission has a little more linear gameplay than the avg MM games...though there are parts where you can pick the level). As someone who enjoyed the Battle Network series...I'm enjoying this continuing storyline so far.
Edit: Ok, lie... I forgot I did play more than one game this past week
XBOX - Blinx: Time Sweeper
Actually a pretty good game. I've shunned it for quite some time now (I got it for free a long time ago)..but now I picked it back up recently because I was in the mood for some of that good ol' 3d-platformer action. I didn't realize how long it's been since I played one! The jewel combo/time theme adds a nice twist to a crowded genre :)

The Typing of the Dead on Dreamcast. So happy to finally have this; I've been playing it on the PC for a while but it's no fun seeing your character with a Dreamcast strapped to his back when you're playing the game on a computer.
Also, a little bit of OoT after my 360 took a shit. Decided I was going to hook up my 64 to my 47" LCD and man, was that a bad idea. Looks like an absolute muddy mess on a screen that big. Just added insult to injury since I was trying to get over my 360 blues until I decide what to do about that. :(

I've caught 75 Pokemon in Pokemon Pinball on my Game Boy Advance SP now, which puts me at having precisely half, not counting Mew. I have 80-some on my list, though, so there are several evolutions I messed up on. Now it's getting really tough encountering new Pokemon. I think I have most of them from the first set of levels, so I have to focus on evolutions and the second set of levels, which is going to make things much harder. I did manage to get to Saffron City again, but that stupid place always gives me Pokemon I can catch in the first set of locations. I swear, Pokemon that require two evolutions are going to be the death of me. I always either run out of time, fall past the flippers as I'm trying to get the last item or get into the hole, or I just loose all my balls in the process of opening up evolution mode two times over. I think the only third form I've successfully acquired is Butterfree. At this point in the game, if my first Pokemon I encounter in Catch 'em Mode isn't a new one or one I need to evolve, I just save to get back to the title screen and start a new game.

On Thursday, I finally bought another Dreamcast. I've missed that little white box for so long. It's funny that I'm more eager to play this console than any of the others that followed it. Weird. Anyway, picked up a bunch of games over the weekend, so now I'm up to nine:
NFL 2K1
NFL 2K2
NBA 2K2
Soul Calibur
Virtua Tennis
Crazy Taxi
Hydro Thunder
San Francisco Rush 2049
Toy Commander
The #1 Dreamcast for me was NFL 2K1, because it was such endless fun back in the day. Just yesterday I got 2K2 for $1.99, since I missed it back then and never really knew if it was any good. This was the first multi-platform title for the 2K series, so I wasn't expecting much beyond the standard Madden upgrades (that is, almost no change at all). I'm really surprised at how much of the game is improved in 2K2, especially the improved running game and defense AI. The players have a higher polygon count and more shading, which makes them look closer to the pudgy Madden look, and a host of added animations which look terrific.
So far I'm really thrilled with NFL 2K2. It's a much smarter game and shows yet again how much attention Visual Concepts/2K Games put into their football games. And, hey, the game cost me $2! That's a great deal! So at this point, I think this was the DC's best football game, which makes it my #1 DC game of all.
Obviously, I'm spending time again with Soul Calibur and Virtua Tennis and Rush 2049. Those were my other favorites on Dreamcast. I'm greatly impressed with how well these games hold up after 8-9 years. Graphics have made great leaps since then, but the best DC titles still impress. It's still the best games console ever made, imho.
Now all I need are the emulators. I'm digging around for the Atari800 emulator, so I can play 4-player M.U.L.E. And definitely Stella DC so we can have Warlords tourneys.

I'm one game away from having all four of the Pro Pinball titles on the PlayStation (I just need Timeshock).* Big Race USA is the one I've spent the most time with. I just cruised around all four of the cities in Driver (San Francisco is my favorite one to cruise around in, followed by Miami).
More Pokemon Pinball on my Game Boy Advance SP. It's very addictive, but I'm getting frustrated that I can't keep my games going longer.
I know the feeling. I'll get lucky every now and then, but I tend to do better with the one on the GBA.
* - Timeshock is also one of the last three games I need in order to have every pinball title released on the PlayStation in the US - the other two are Extreme Pinball and True Pinball (which is going to be the toughest to acquire since it's an R7).

But I've actually been pleasantly surprised; so far this one's not too bad.)

Still working on Pokemon Pinball on my Game Boy Advance SP. I have 95 Pokemon now, with 99 that I've encountered, so I'm closing the gap a little. And, obviously, I'm nearly the 100 mark. I've been focusing on the Blue board as of late, and I think my game is slowly improving slightly. I've been able to earn two extra balls so far (I don't know why this game makes it so impossible to get extra balls), and I've gotten quite a few third-form evolutions. I've just about exhausted everything I can encounter in the first set of stages of the Blue board, besides some evolutions of Eevee, Growlithe, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur (funny how the starting Pokemon in the RPG are rather tough to encounter in this game). I think I'll have to work on the Red board again pretty soon, even though Blue seems somewhat easier.
I also played a very minuscule amount of Mega Man 4 via emulation at the insistence of my boyfriend.

More Brigandine tonight. I bought this game around its release - probably ten years ago now - and it's a good one to pop in for a half hour after work or whatever and play a few battles and reorganize my forces (the ability to save at any point, before, after or during battle helps in this regard too). I usually get on a kick of playing this one at least once a year and play through with one or two of the countries before putting it away again. If you like strategy games and can find a copy, I recommend checking it out.

On my PS2:
Destruction Derby 2 (PSX)
Driver (PSX)
Destruction Derby 2 could have been as great as the first DD, but it was ruined by awful gameplay. However, I've found it amusing enough that I don't miss the $2.50 I spent on it. I eventually wound up trying to see how long I could survive in the Death Bowl - IIRC, my record was just over 56 seconds. Then I switched to Driver and drove around San Francisco and Miami.
I've been on a Poke-rampage lately. My 7 yr old Pokemaniac son has been playing Pokemon XD GoD on the Cube. There is a known glitch in the game (second battle with Zook) that he happened to experience, making it impossible to go further. Being a good dad, I restarted the game after he went to bed and power levelled an optimum Pokemon team up to and just beyond the glitch point, which is about 3/4 through the game. I had so much fun that I've now done it all over again, for myself, on a second memory card.
I also have been on a Silent Hill binge lately. Last week I bought Origins on PS2, #2 on PS2 and #4 on Xbox. I already own #1, #5 comes out this week and all I have to do is find #3 on the PS3 and I'm set!! Maybe it's got to do with the fact that the Silent Hill movie was filmed in the small town that I live in?

Add exactly 10 to my previous Pokemon Pinball totals, and that's where I am now - 105 caught and 109 encountered. I did make some progress on the missing encountered ones from last time, but I just encountered more new ones that I screwed up on to retain the same gap. Most of the ones I mentioned on the Blue board I'm still missing, though. I did get two of Eevee's evolutions and Ivysaur (but the latter doesn't help me much, since I'll have to do that all over again to get the third form). I'm still absolutely awful at the Red board. It sucks to feel like I'm starting from square one all over again. I did, however, have one unusually good run with it in which I smashed my previously high score for the Red board (went from around 500 million to 2 billion), and I finally got the third form of Weedle and Staryu's evolution. It's especially great getting the latter because Staryu only shows up in the second set of stages, so it's hard enough getting to the place, let alone encountering, capturing, and evolving it. I got totally robbed on getting Poliwag's third form, though. I was doing awesome evolving Poliwhirl, and there I was one millisecond away from Poliwrath. I collect all three water stones, and I was lining up the perfect shot right into the hole by holding the ball with the flipper. But the ball had an infinitesimally small amount of too much momentum, so it just BARELY slipped off my flipper and there was no saving it. It was one of those moments where you're too shocked and upset to curse, so I was just like "NOOOO!" Haha, it's funny in retrospect. Even though I don't encounter Poliwag often, at least it shows up in the first set of stages on both boards, so I'll try to do it over on the easier Blue board.
