It's definitely NOT for the fast-action gamer. It's slow, long, even educational in that you take photos & catalog species that you find. There's always something to do/tasks to complete (find a certain fish, take someone diving, etc.) If you like exploration, oceanography, or nature in any capacity w/ NO danger of dying, it's awesome.
A Ps2 equivalent is Everblue 2 by Arika, the same company that did Endless Ocean.
I might have to check out the 2nd one. Thanks.

I never knew how addicting Galaga and 1942 were (as they were before my time) until I went to the only local arcade and played them. Only complaint is how annoying and loud the noises 1942 makes. BEEP BEEP CHI CHI CHI BEEP BEEP BEEEEP!

Cleared Timesplitters on Easy which opens Challenge mode, & beat 1-A (behead the undead). Man, I dont recall everything about this game, but as bits & pieces come back, I smile. :) Can safely say this was the 1st game that showed me what PS2 could do.
When I bought this, I also saw PS2 Midway Arcade Treasures 1 & 2, 3 used copies of both, for $10 each. What is that, 40 or so classics for .50/game, sitting on a store shelf rather than in someone's collection. Any self-respecting gamer should have these!

Chrono Trigger Crimson Echoes, Prophet's Guile, and Soul Calibur 4.
I'm not a fan of Soul Calibur 4 because of how unbalanced it is. I can play as a character I'm good with like Mitsurugi and win the majority of the time against a good player. However, a character I'm much better with, Nightmare, who's also my favorite character, I can beat most people who play as a slow character like another Nightmare, Astaroth, Siegfried, etc, yet the majority of the time a good fast character player will beat me. This is only with Nightmare or Siegfried, two slow characters I'm good with.
It's bs because Nightmare is so watered down from his previous version in SC3. Siegfried is watered down from Soul Calibur 2's Nightmare because in SC3 they pretty much cut Nightmare into two parts Siegfried and Nightmare, so he's half the character he once was in SC2 with far less diversity than he once had. I'd also like to mention how reduced their attack power is to where alot of the quick characters basic attacks take as much as almost all their attacks.
So two characters I'm much better with I lose more often than a character that I'm only good with. Infact, I win more with almost any of the fast players I'm good with.

The GTA4 online system is actually pretty good atleast for how good it runs. It'd be alot better if the game had better matchups in the deathmatches, etc.
I played this Evangelion demo I downloaded from the JPN, except for the fact that I didn't really play it due to that once you got into it the only options you could really do is change Misato's hair to one of two versions(both in the anime, the regular one and then the one with her hair tied back.) The only other thing you could do is go to the PSN to download more stuff, but seeing as I was on the US account nothing was there. The fact that I can guarantee I would have had to pay for something means I wouldn't have gotten further than that. Went through all that Japanese text for nothing. Lame.

Sonic 3 (XBLA)- Played the first two acts, seems alright
Gunstar Heroes (XBLA)- I forgot how many boss battles were in this game
Sega Mega Collection (360)- Some good games (Sonic Series, Streets of Rage) and some terrible games (Golden Axe Series, Altered Beast)
Wolfenstein 3d (XBLA)- Played up to the last level in the first episode, ill pick it up again sometime in the future.
Fuel(XBLA)- BIG areas, but it's mediocre everywhere else
Ill be getting the new Tiger Woods and Prototype through Gamefly in a couple of days. Ghostbusters the following week.

Man, I love summer gaming. In the last week or so I've probably already spent more time playing than I did in all of May.
Before I left for vacation a couple weeks ago, I did play a tiny bit of stuff that I was too busy to update on. In Infinite Undiscovery for Xbox 360, I left off in Halgita after destroying the Amber Chain. It's a shame I didn't have the time to beat the game before leaving, so I'll just have to get back to it in August.
Prior to leaving and during my traveling, I played some stuff on my Game Boy Advance SP. Some Centipede via Atari Anniversary Advance like usual, and I finally found the monster I needed in Magi Nation. I really should be pushing to finish off that game since I started it, when, in the winter? It's gotten really tedious and boring to play, though, so I'll probably put that off until later this summer. I also decided to bring along Beatmania GB and Castlevania: Circle of the Moon. I still stink at the former, but it's silly fun. I figure I may as well play it over the summer since I need a quiet place to play, which rules out school. I played a tiny bit of Circle of the Moon to see where I left off. I played the game like crazy years ago on my original GBA (squinting to see anything, haha). I was even nuts enough to try collecting 99 of every item, but I never finished. I want to beat all the different modes. I already did Magician, but I only played a little of Fighter and left off there. I guess I just ODed on the game back then.
But as for the real summer gaming I've been getting into, I've been doing some hunting and tried out a bunch of recent purchases: Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker on DS, Tecmo Super Bowl III: Final Edition on SNES, and BattleTanx, BattleTanx: Global Assault, Snowboard Kids, Top Gear Rally, and Vigilante 8 all for N64. But my main game right now is Final Fantasy II for Super Nintendo, which continues my goal of playing through the series in order, one game each summer. I just got Edge, and so far it's already leagues better than any other main Final Fantasy I've beaten (1-3 and 7). The most important difference to me is that it's so extremely fast paced. I felt like I was flying through the first 10 hours, but it's got enough content that it isn't immediately over. It's slowed down a little now with some longer dungeons and lots of battling, but the story is just barely strong enough to keep it feeling like it has purpose, unlike the earlier titles. And for the first time I find the cast somewhat likable, unlike in 7 or the earlier casts which, try as they may, didn't feel like they had truly distinct personalities. Even though I can't appreciate it as someone who played it in 1991, I also really respect all the innovations it brought to the genre. It made huge steps forward to dispose of the clunky feel and awkward pacing of most prior RPGs which causes me to largely prefer 8-bit adventure games over 8-bit RPGs. I can't claim that I'd place it remotely close to my favorite RPGs, which have so much more depth, but it's definitely a solid SNES RPG. I could easily picture it being a favorite if I had experienced it when it was new and formed a nostalgic bond with it.

I'm saved in the Sealed Cave in Final Fantasy II for Super Nintendo now, having just prior explored the Sylph Cave and the the Land of Summoned Monsters. I hope the game wraps up fairly quickly. I'm still enjoying it, but I think now that I'm past 25 hours, I've just about had my fill and am starting to grow a little tired of random battles (I'd run away from more if I didn't lose so much gold doing so).
Since I was craving a little action, I also popped in my Super Famicom version of Street Fighter II, inspired by reading the Nintendo Power issue in which it was covered a couple weeks ago. I really should learn the game more, considering what a legendary title it is, but I've only played it a tiny bit over the years. I even had to write down the moves since I feel like the one person on Earth that doesn't have them memorized. It's like I'm taking my own personal trip back to 1992. :P

I've recently been playing games i've never actually finished. I made a list of games i've played, including notes on whether or not I finished them. I'm slowly making my way down right now. Included is if I played any game in a series that wasn't the first. For example I've played Crusader: No Regret but never No Remorse, so not only am I finishing No Regret, i'm starting with No Remorse. I'm also trying to finish Diablo 2.

I'm in the exact same spot. I'm enjoying it quite a bit. There has been times where I've gotten sick of the random battles in certain areas (seems like the encounter rate is higher in some places), but I've just put the game down for a little. I don't know, but it's more fun (to me) to play a game after a little absense (even if it's only a couple days).

Wizardry on the NES.
It's been pretty smooth going up until now. Luck ran out while mapping level 2. I went through a door, and got ambushed by an overpowering enemy group.
My lead fighter was decapitated by 9 ninjas. That's a cool way to go.
The Temple of Cant couldn't recapitate him. Now reduced to ashes, the fee for his treatment was doubled so I went to raise more money. That 2nd attempt also failed, in the end they told me to bury him. RIP.
One of the bench players got a promotion to the primary group, and I made a new rookie fighter "Fabio" to start training for future deployments.
Those guys have a high risk lifestyle so I'm keeping 5 fighters on my roster, of which I normally use 3 in a group. Also have a couple extra magic users. I'm considering whether my second-string cleric should convert to bishop, as he now has the stats to do so.

My current project is the original Metroid, I'm even old-schooling it, drawing my own totally-not-to-scale maps in a notebook and playing ALMOST guide-free...
I eventually opened a walkthrough on gamefaqs just to check what zone the Varia suit was in, but then I'm all "WTF do you mean it's in Brinstar?! I've looked all over that place" and got directions....nope, missed a spot I guess. I did, however, find the Screw Attack on my own, and they hid that pretty well too :P Gonna punch in my password and resume soon....Kraid's down, next stop Ridley....
I must say I really like the design of Kraid's hideout. All that "check out every door, experiment, and map" exploration suddenly becomes somewhat of a waste, so many passages just lead you in a circle with nothing useful to find there! I felt so...trolled by the experience, that by the time I find his room, I was feeling appropriately murderous, "dammit boss, how dare you build your home in this fashion!!" Yeah, it's the designers who made it that way, but....yeah. It sounds like a complaint, but I really did enjoy it....anyway at least during this expedition, you get to listen to the best piece of music in the game :)
Wizardry on the NES.
I'm guessing this is the first one (Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord)? Never actually played that one, we had Knight of Diamonds or whatever the sequel was called....damn it's hard. I think I came across that when I had my brother pull a box of stray NES games out of his closet for ...whichever ones I was looking for, but I left it there, cus if I want to be driven insane by a dungeon crawler, I've got The Dark Spire sitting on my DS waiting for the mood to strike me...

Yes, the 1st one is what I'm playing. I hope to get hold of Knight of Diamonds eventually, but it's more rare and expensive.
One of my favorite games on the PS2 is Wizardry:Forsaken Land. When I read the reviews (generally negative) about that game I knew I had to have it.
Haven't beaten it yet but I love that style of RPG. I got tired of Final Fantasy types after the SNES days.
The way Wizardry handles death makes it pretty hard, but I love that about it. It makes the game more intense when you have genuine fear about your characters getting killed. At minimum, it will cost a lot of money, or at worst you may lose him permanently.
The PS2 game actually tones that down too much, but it's still a great game.
