More Brain Training - DS
Got age 21, so close...
Nights - Saturn
Trying to finish Claris's levels before starting Eliots. I hear you need a C ranking on each level to unlock the final one but I struggle to get it on the Mystic Valley stage, and if I do I come across a boss I've never seen before and don't defeat him so lose my score. I feel the bosses are completely at odds with the actual levels in this game. I also feel the game is so relaxed and nice its hard to think of it as a score attack game with a strict time limit.
Geometry Wars Galaxies - Wii
Tried some new levels and tried and failed to gold some old ones. I've realised I've only tried about half the levels so far. I've also got to the point where I really really want to be shooting and moving in exactly the same direction, a criticism of the remote + nunchuck controls I read in a couple of reviews.

Picked up Tony Hawk Project 8 for xbox so I'll be playing that the next few days...that's the good thing about the Tony Hawk games, they drop in price quickly like sports titles so you can always pick up the old ones pretty cheap.

I haven't been able to find enough time to play it all, so the past two days, it's been mahjong, billiards, bowling and darts on Clubhouse Games on DS. I tried to start SNK vs. Capcom Cardfighter and go further in Trauma Center, but I've been trying to spend more time around humans instead of A.I.

I gave the Pole Position conversion cabinet a much needed cleaning and fired it up for the first time in a couple weeks. On my first quarter I took pole position (no big deal, happens 90% of the time) but crashed into some rogue traffic in the middle of the first lap of the race. I continued to drive out the race, it was one of those odd games where I'm so relaxed I don't realize what lap I'm on. So I cross the finish line, not even aware that I was on the final lap and that it was coming up. As my bonus points are being totaled and added I noticed that my score was ticking up pretty high and there was still plenty of bonus still being added. Then it happened, it ticked over my high score by 60 points...
http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/DP-PolePosition003.jpg
NOoooooooooo....... 120 points under 60,000 - if I hadn't crashed on that damn first lap I would have had it. :frustrated: I still can't believe that I got that score even with the crash, I was blowing through the circuit for the rest of the race. 120 points, that's 1 second less = +200 points (which I have done as the number 2 score time shows) or if I had passed three more cars = +50 points each x 3 = 150 points.
Every game I played after that one I slowly got worse and worse so I gave it a rest after about three dollars.

Inspired to play this due to the thread over at ntsc-uk and the fact that No More Heroes is out soon. The tutorial got stuck in an endless loop I didn't seem inclined to exit from and then finally I started the real game. I haven't got very far at all. The controls are odd and so is navigation. There are some puzzles which I don't know what to do with so will leave aside. The game is very very creepy though. I should go back to it.
Sonic Pocket Adventure - NGPC
Carried on from where I failed last time (Cosmic Casino zone) and finally beat the boss, rushed through Aquatic Ruin zone and much to my surprise, Knuckles made an appearance. After beating him, Tails appeared in his biplane! I didn't think those 2 were in the game. So I did the Tails biplane level then got stuck on the zone afterwards. I hate the way when you fall you have to do half the level again. Sigh

Trying this Mega Disk Game Copier.
I put it on a Genesis II and it turns on..Now the only game I have left for the Genny is Action 52,so I need to grab a loose game this weekend at the Flea Market.
It won't read the Action 52...I haven't tried to do anything with a controller yet because they are burried..I just wanted to see if the thing turned on.

1) What is a Game Copier
A game copier is a machine that hooks into your game system and takes the
game that is in the cartridge and copies it to a diskette.
For Genesis: Super Magic Drive, Interceptor, Mega Disk, Magic Drive Plus
(SMD can be used for SNES with an optional
adaptor called the Super Magicom Drive)

Bioshock - playing through for the 1st time.
Guitar Hero III - pretty much weekly thing.
Tetris Splash - droppin' the blocks with my girlfriend.
Discs of Tron - Not bad ... not perfect, but hey, it's DISCS OF FRIGGIN' TRON on a modern console, so I ain't complainin'!
PS3
High Velocity Bowling - Perhaps the most under-rated PSN release ever!
Rock Band - again, pretty much a weekly if not daily affair
Tekken 5 Online - I played online, because ... it was in the game's title.
Warhawk - In anticipation of the 1.30 patch (NEW WEAPONS!) I fired it up and kicked some ass onlne. I still got it.
PSP
Silent Hill Origins - An XMAS gift getting some rotation in my PSP collection ... typically great "creepy" Silent Hill audio is even better with headphones on!
PS2
Metal Slug Anthology - I'll be bringing my Wii version to NAVA for trade/sale, now that I have this one.
The Warrirors - Slowly working my way through this one, savoring every moment.
PS1
You Don't Know Jack - A perrenial household favorite. Makes Scene It! on 360 and Buzz Trivia on PS2 look like Candyland and Chutes and Ladders, respectively.
I haven't booted up the Wii in the past few weeks, nor have I busted out any other classic systems.
Well, I'm off to buy some Cube games......my PS3 is on it's way to heaven (freezing on load screens when backing out of menus while playing PS2 games). I *was* playing Turismo 4 and Tourist Trophy with a big helping of Orange Box. Nothing like having a game freeze after winning a 3 1/2 hr race....or after getting some golds in your licences. I've picked back up on PSO v1&2 on Cube.

Spent ages wondering around stage 1 not knowing what to do, then I opened the tumble dryer - and there was a talking woman's head inside! That freaked me out. So then I had the tools to do all the puzzles and proceed through the level. Had to do the speedy smile a few times and then a few nice cutscenes which were intriging. And thats stage 1 done. Wow. Anyway, this game is seriously creepy so I needed to play something else to get it out of my head before bed, so i tried out:
Ninja Spirit - PC Engine
But the sound on my PC Engine was mucking up. The cable from the RGB mod seems to be a bit loose inside the machine but I can't take it apart. Anyway, got the sound working and gave this a go. I don't really understand the game, especially why there is 3 different types of projectile weapon options which are largely similar. So, got to stage 3, out of i believe 7 and gave up after dying too much.
Sonic Pocket Adventure - NGPC
Finally got to the end of Aerobase level which was so annoying and Metal Sonic was there! Defeated him and the next zone was much more enjoyable but died at Robotnik.

Tiny bit more of Star Ocean 1: First Departure on PSP. I did a lot of arena battles with my recently recruited characters, and then I did even more Private Actions. I started this one interesting sequence, but I had to leave it hanging because I need to get some Creamy Cheese to progress with it. It'll be awhile until I'm able to buy it, so I just had to head over to Van I Il. I'm in the middle of the Trial Labyrinth right now, saved right before the puzzle that everyone always gets stuck on. Once I finish up with this dungeon, I should hopefully be able to do some Private Actions in Van, as I know I can pickpocket some Creamy Cheese from a woman here. Then I'll head back to Ionis and see if I can finish up that sequence. Oh, I also found Welch's hidden hut in the woods, but the place was empty sadly.

Tonight, I played some Japanese PS2 imports:
Terra Cresta - This is a really simplistic shooter that reminds me a lot of Xevious. I tried 3 times to set a new high score and never succeeded.
Gekibo 2 (aka Gekisha Boy) (aka Polaroid Pete) - I am loving this game. It's definitely a must-have Japanese PS2 game. The gameplay is a lot like Pokemon Snap, however, it is much tougher with the combos that must be done to increase your points and move on to the next level. I am on level 4, and I will probably play this game some more during the weekend.

I've been waiting for this to arrive for a while. Mostly because it comes with the DS paddle controller. So, the main game has these Outrun-esque branches which each hold 5 stages. After dying once I thought I might as well try the hardest path. Mistake. It took forever, and I keep dying and the game got really annoying, for these reasons: Sometimes the ball gets stuck going back and forth on its own accord for ages, you have to aim for tiny gaps, and even if you do get the ball in there you wont get to where you want. And basically it annoyed the hell out of me and I must've spent well over an hour on that stupid game and I hated it and the sound effects hurt my head and the music was bad and i thought the level design was either too simplistic or too hard and not playtested. However, later on I decided to try the easiest route - and i had a good time. So, now I have 5 other routes to do, probably ranging from enjoyable to annoying. We'll see how it goes.

I finished off the Trial Labyrinth in Star Ocean 1: First Departure on PSP, and then I did some Private Actions in the city. I also tried to get that aforementioned Creamy Cheese, but try as I may I just kept failing. I figured I should level up Ratix's Pickpocket ability, so I took some extra time out to battle. When I finally got a level up, I didn't get enough skill points to get Pickpocket to level 10, the maximum, but level 9 is good enough to steal the Creamy Cheese, though it fails most of the time.
I also popped Culdcept in my PS2, and it's a surprisingly addictive game (and I'm not even into stuff like Magic the Gathering). I ended up playing longer than expected, with my boyfriend's little sister watching. We had a great time laughing at some of the goofy artwork and the announcer's cheesy voice. I got through the first battle okay, which is basically a tutorial anyway, but I got beaten on the second battle. I'll probably have to take some more effort into figuring out how everything works.
I started playing Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time (DS) earlier, though I'm not sure if I'll finish it since it's kinda annoying so far.

Daytona USA - Saturn
This is incredible. Well, track 1 isn't great but the other 2 are fantastic. I have managed to win the 2nd race but the best i have managed on track 3 is 6th place. And the first track I struggle more with, although once I somehow fluked 4th place, which has never been repeated. This game is fantastic, I'm thinking of picking up Circuit Edition and/or the Dreamcast version too, although I hear they might not be as good.

None will be as good as the arcade (which it sounds like you're just coming out from under the rock concerning). Visually the Dreamcast version (AKA Daytona USA 2001) surpasses even the arcade original and once you turn the steering sensitivity down it's a blast to play. It was a loving tirbute to the original Daytona USA and the Circuit Edition expansion it spawned, including all the circuits from both games as well as three new ones. Tons of remixed classic Daytona USA music as well and back when it came out, four player online play over the SegaNet ate up most of my free time - especially late at night when a few of us regulars would always meet up. I particularly liked that it concentrated on the original game and not that over the top Daytona 2 arcade sequel which I never cared for.
Also a quick note, if you're going to get Daytona USA Circuit Edition be sure to pick up the Japanese release. I know the USA and believe the EUR versions have poor play control and are missing the classic music of the original game. The Japanese release restored much of the original control, had far better Sega 3D Pad control options, and included the option to use the classic music for the three original circuits. Also of note is the classic alternate music for the three original circuits are actually the arcade versions of each song - the first Daytona USA on the Saturn had VERY SLIGHTLY altered music. LOL Play this game for 14 years and you notice things. LOL

Thanks David. I remember the arcade version from way back but unfortunately, did not play it much, as all arcade games. I've only had a Saturn for a short time so am playing the classics. I've read up on the different releases and have the Dreamcast version and Japanese Circuit Edition in the post :) . I've always been a bit wary of the Dreamcast version as it doesn't look like the arcade version does in my memory, probably due to the lack of chunkiness. I've been able to see through the bad visuals of the Saturn version and really enjoy it and now see why people are fussing about losing that super-cheesy music, which I have come to love. The three courses are also spot-on. I don't have high hopes for the Circuit Edition but will be interesting to see it, and it was pretty cheap. I'm also slightly wary of 3D pad control as the original Saturn release controls very well with the d-pad. I think I'll go read your reviews of Daytona on your site now.
To bring this back round to daily play - I did indeed play Daytona USA once again on the Saturn. Got first place on the beginner track finally and almost did it on the last track. I was leading the pack for the first time ever and then on one of the last few corners took it badly and dropped to 5th but managed to end up in 3rd. So, almost there...

I've been playing MVP Baseball 2005 on my GameCube a lot but decided to start up a new franchise on MVP Baseball 2004 so I could have a Pirates team where the roster is the same as I have in a keeper fantasy baseball league. Setting that up took quite awhile but when I played a few games I noticed a few things. I may be wrong but I think I like the graphics in the 2004 edition more than the one for 2005 and I notice there's a difference in the graphics when you hit a home run. In MVP 2004, the fans in the stands jump up and down and cheer when you hit a homer but in 2005, they're still as statues. That's a step backwards in my opinion. I also had a weird glitch. My 3rd baseman hit a foul ball that was caught just before it went foul but the announcer said it was a home run and fireworks even went off but no run was shown on the scoreboard though an out was. Once the game was over, I checked the box score and that player was indeed credited with a home run...but no RBI. Weird...

Gradius II PCE CD, horribly getting my ass handed to me by the bos rush stage after barely managing to scrap by the Moai and speed stages, did well on the extra level between my two trouble levels though, 1 lifed the stage. Once I got to the boss rush I couldn't maintain my gaming mojo and got promptly destroyed by Tetran or Gau (Covered Core had a hand in it too). Since I can't 1 credit the game, I credit fed and finally beat Gofer down, didn't last too long into loop 2 getting up to the Phoenix boss in stage 1, after that I had enough.

I'm not playing games much at the moment, although I am playing Donkey Kong 64 (N64) when I get a chance. I am too busy console modding and hacking to play games!

So I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't sleep and for some unknown reason I started to play this. The last time I picked it up was back in July according to the saved game data and I was only at chapter two. I remember being stuck for ages and so utilised a little gamefaqs, which basically said i missed picking up some item somewhere and carried on. So i'm now on chapter three. I also played this on my commute this morning and since I finished the book I was reading yesterday, this may be how I utilise my commutes from now on.

A bit ago I picked up Medal of Honor European Assault for xbox, I never really got into any of the war games, and actually this was only the second one of the call of duty, brothers in arms and medal of honor games I've actually owned (and actually sold my other one without even playing it after buying it for $1), but it was cheap so I grabbed it. But after popping it in (I almost put pooping it in) about an hour before I usually get ready for bed (I go to bed around 5-6 since I work overnights), I ended up wasting 2 hours wandering around shooting people, I must say I got to consider picking up some of the other war based games if something like this can make me skip out on some sleep.

The Majors pro baseball for gamegear? STRIKE!!!! I used to love that game. The original Sports talk baseball for the genesis is basically a port of that game, or vice versa, lol.
I've been playing super tecmo bowl (go dallas.), sonic 3 + knuckles, captain america and the avengers for genesis, for some partially ironic reason, and a bit of Wiz n' Liz for the Genesis, although so far I'm not setting the difficulty correctly or something, because its kicking my ass...

Up to chapter four now. Some of the puzzles have been annoying, and for reasons they shouldn't have. Like Another Code/Trace Memory, some of these puzzles utilise the DS in quite unique ways. I don't like a bit of the way the game is set up though.

Finished Sunset Part 1. I got into this a lot more this time. I did experience rather more cutscenes than action sequences though.
