More Star Ocean 1: First Departure on PSP. I'm saved right before the boss of the cave the bandits are hiding out in, which is the first "real" dungeon of the game, if you ask me. Once I get that wrapped up, I'll be able to head over to the Astral continent.
Still playing Centipede via Atari Anniversary Advance on my Game Boy Advance SP as well, and I managed to beat my score from the train ride home from MAGFest. While it may be a bit much to say I "smashed" it, I did get quite a bit beyond it rather than just squeaking by. My new top score is 47,000-something. I'm getting close to that elusive 50,000 mark. I can regularly get 40,000 now too, as I have a new strategy for dealing with a swarm near the bottom of the screen. Granted, people were probably coming up with these strategies and even better ones back in the early 80s. :P I like tackling the game on my own, though, so I don't care how well other people can play the game (I think Billy Mitchell has a score of around 10 million, haha, and he's not even the record holder).
I also cracked into Mawashite Koron for DS, which is the "sequel" to Cameltry I mentioned before. I prefer to own US versions of games if they did indeed come out in the West and I'm usually good about doing my research, but this time I was a little too hasty in buying it as I didn't learn until just after I paid that it actually did come out in the US a few months ago with a generic title and under some budget publisher. I have a friend that bought this game a long time ago when it first came out in Japan, so I guess I just assumed it never left Japan. Oh well, no biggie. Anyway, I'm really enjoying it so far. It has a softer palette than Cameltry, so I'm still trying to get used to the harder to spot penalty blocks. The game seemed pretty easy too, but it ramped up for the fourth course. The music doesn't seem as cool as Cameltry's, but it's hard to top old school Zuntata, hehe.

Super Mario Galaxy - Wii
Got all 120 stars, woo! Finally. One of the purple coin levels took me almost an hour and I finally found that hidden star on Dusty Dune Galaxy. So I did about 10 stars and was still surprised to be finding completely new and exciting things this late in, what a brilliant game.
So my flatmate brought his N64 back so he mostly played things, here's what I played:
Goldeneye - N64
Just a couple of multiplayer levels. I wish we had 4 control pads.
Top Gear Rally - N64
Dreadful, Absolutely dreadful game
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - N64
Never meant to play it but after starting a new game and getting stuck I got handed the controller, and wow, is this game fun. And it looks just like the new Wii Zelda. Maybe if I want to start another epic game, this'll be it.
Essential Sudoku DS
Just one more Picross puzzle. There's a lot in this game but I just read a review of another DS Picross title that i'm thinking of buying. Which is odd, considering I've only done about 75 out of the 1000 puzzles in this game and have stacks of DS games I've barely touched.

The Godfather: Very fun just driving around and hitting people in my car. I am on the mission where you have to cut the head off of the horse and put it in that dudes bed.
Gun: Not so fun. I am a few levels into the game and it is just leaving me fealing empty. But I will finish it.
Half Life 2: I just might be one of the last people on earth to start this game. I am stuck on lvl 3 right now.
KOTOR: I started playing KOTOR 2 first, so I thought before I get to far into that, I would come back and hit this. Good so far.

An evening of videogaming, which was the first for quite a while actually:
Ordyne - PC Engine
So I was browsing through my PS2 and PC Engine games just to find something colourful and the cover of this stood out. And its a horizontal shooter, which I don't normally like but found very enjoyable. I will go back to it I think. It has these shops throughout the levels where you buy weapon upgrades. Its very colourful and pretty cheerful, despite a couple of scary badguys.
Splatterhouse - PC Engine
Got to the boss of Stage IV again. My PC Engine controller sometimes has trouble with the up button and the jump button. I tend to just unplug it and blow on the connection and its fine, but the last time I did this i managed to switch the damn system off, so didn't get any further. I did destroy all the heads on this boss so thought I'd defeated it, then there were still a couple of heads floating about and then it somehow regrew some heads.
OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast - PS2
A quick and unsuccesful attempt on the OutRun 2 15-stage continuous. It was so fast and colourful, the complete opposite of Splatterhouse.
Yosumin DS
Did another of the "challenge" stages as I call them, i have 18 more to go. This one ended with you having to get a Yosumin and use a wild-card block, just like in the last level of story mode, which was nice.

I'm up to the town of Tatoroy in Star Ocean 1: First Departure now. I've been toying around with the arena and Puffy's virtual RPG before I progress. I wish Puffy was a new playable character instead of a lolita Welch that's somehow appearing hundreds of years in the past for no apparent reason. :P
I've also been finally trying out some of my other PSP games. I've popped in Aedis Eclipse: Generation of Chaos, Astonishia Story, and Capcom Classics Collection: Remixed so far. In Aedis Eclipse, I switched the voice acting to Japanese which I always do with Nippon Ichi titles because, even though their English dubbers are a bit better than the norm, they're still not THAT good. Ultimately, it was kind of a bad decision, though, because even though I barely know any Japanese at all, I still knew enough to realize that the English text was NOTHING like the Japanese voice acting. The Japanese voice actors will say something like "souda", which just means that a character is agreeing with what the previous character said, but the text box will have a freakin' paragraph of the character joking around, trying to sound all playful. It just kind of irked me that the dialogue was so different. When I actually got to a gameplay segment, I had trouble figuring out what was going on, so I turned it off. Seems like a game I'll have to read through the manual first for. Then with Astonishia Story, I realized it was the same game as Astonishia Story R for GP32. For some reason, I find the graphics much more impressive on GP32 (maybe because it's weaker hardware), and I overall just like it better there. The battles in the PSP version seem to have been really dumbed down. All my characters were doing far more damage than they were in Astonishia Story R. Finally, I already tried Capcom Classics Collection: Remixed earlier, but this time I went through every game on the collection.
I beat my top score in Centipede via Atari Anniversary Advance on my Game Boy Advance SP again. I got up to 49,000-something. What sucked is that just before starting my last life I glanced at my score, realized I had a new high, and then the pressure got to me and caused me to choke. I flew right into a spider just barely after starting the life, which left me just a little over a hundred points shy of hitting 50,000. :/
On DS, I polished off Mawashite Koron. Pretty short game, and even though it got pretty tough in a few stages toward the end, the difficulty was still unbalanced and fluctuated. In particular, the very last stage of the game was a complete breeze. Overall, the level design of the game isn't quite as good as Cameltry either. It was a satisfying experience, but On the Ball is still the reigning king. Also on DS, I played a little Etrian Odyssey, which I picked up yesterday. I had to buy the display copy, which I hate doing, but that was the only copy I could find out of searching several different stores. I have a friend that's been telling me to get it repeatedly since it came out, and considering it still sells for around the MSRP on eBay even used, I figured I should get it. With the high demand and huge following it has, I wouldn't be surprised if this one gets more expensive over time. Seems very fun from what I've played so far.
That's about everything, I think, besides that I played some random arcade games via MAME. I forgot just about everything, but the main reason we were playing was to play some Neo Turf Masters. Unfortunately, we still don't have the MVS cart for that one.

I'm still at Tatoroy in Star Ocean 1: First Departure on PSP, but I completed the whole series of events involving Astral and Fear. Since I gained a few levels, I figured I'd take another shot at the arena. I still can't get past Rank E with Ratix, but I got to C with Iria. I figured I wouldn't get far with Cius since his defense is the lowest, but I amazingly beat C with him and earned the Shichisei Ougi skill for him and Ratix. Who knows, maybe I'll learn those super powerful moves really early on in the game now. I pressed my luck further and attempted Rank B, but he got absolutely slaughtered. :P Next I think I'll head back to the Moore continent before moving on.

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved - Wii
So, I bought Geometry Wars Galaxies on its release day (in the UK, this was only on Friday, way behind the USA here) but so far all I've played is the port of the Xbox game. I've only played it on the 360 three times before and each time I've never fully grasped the dual stick controls and its made my eyes water. My eyes seem fine on the Wii though and I find the stick and remote controls much easier. So, I've kind of got a little addicted. 3 and a half hours friday, 1 hour saturday, 2 and a half hours sunday. I don't think I'm very good though, my best score is only 330,000 points and I've said to myself that I'm going to get 1million points before I start the actual Galaxies game.
Wii Play
Tanks! I'd forgotten how much I used to love this game. So we played it 2player until it was time to leave. It was amazing again.
Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved - DS
Amazingly, the Wii version of Galaxies lets you download Retro Evolved to your DS! Woo! And it is exactly the same game, but the enemies move a lot slower. Which makes it a lot easier, allowing me to beat my Wii high score on my first attempt and then later rack up 650,000 points, almost double my Wii score! Its great how well the d-pad and stylus controls feels so much like the Wii's analogue and pointer. The only downside is that sometimes black holes are hard to see and I've run into them. I kindof think of this as practice for the real game as its so slow. And I can play it on my commute every day to fuel that Geometry Wars addiction. Ace.

I'd like to Play Nights and check out DEEP FEAR again..I need to pull out a Saturn today.
Since I got that second copy of Deep Fear I've been thinking about playing Saturn games.
Did you know I paid like $85.00 for Deep Fear back in the Saturn Days when the game came out. ..I had read about it in an Import DC magazine=I hope I still have that mag
Back when I was deep into the Saturn..There was a really nice manager at Electronic Boutique who when I said I wish I could get the game he ordered it for me from overseas..He explained it would cost a bit more due to coming from overseas but that he could get it....I honestly thought he was bullshitting me as I had never had someone go out of their way at a gamestore,..Not even go that far from the managers that I did know.
I get a call say a week later from him and he got it,he showed me the invoice and everything when I got there.
I should of threw him some $$ for the favor but I was in a bit of shock still as in all my years of going to gamestores no one had ever went out of there way for me like that.
I paid him back by giving him my business,I bought a lot of stuff from his store.
I think I had to use the STV Key on the Saturn to play this game but I could not understand any of the Japanese text..I got stuck in the game at a point of choices that I had to make via Japanese text(like a formula),I didn't know what to do as at this point I needed to know Japanese or at least the words in the text to pass it.
I bought a Japanese to English translation book and a Japanese dictionary...they were only somewhat helpful as I think I needed to know what was going on in the game/what the Japanese text said throughout the game before I got to the point I was at..
I don't remember how I got this info back then(maybe the EB manager) but I went I think to the Library and found the game translated to English.
So I had it all printed out and played through the game from the beginning...I think this is the only Saturn Japanese game I finished.
Coincidentally, since I got that Copy at the Flea Market, the night before I took my copy of Deep Fear/the one from back in the day and put it on display..=kinda crazy huh..

Lots more PSP for me. I went back to the Moore continent in Star Ocean 1: First Departure to tackle the secret dungeon on Mt. Metox, but I still can't make it past a single battle. It's strange because if this was the original Super Famicom version I would be more than powerful enough to complete the dungeon. Oh well, I headed back to the Astral continent, and I headed up to Parj Temple where I got Joshua to join up. I completed the dungeon, but somehow I screwed up getting Joshua to join permanently so I'll have to reload my save and beat the last tiny part of the dungeon over again. I didn't feel like doing that right away, so I decided to crack into some more of my PSP games. First off, I tried Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles, which is pretty good and I'd play it over the endless SotN rehashes any day, but it's still pretty meh in comparison to the original. The music and graphics are especially underwhelming, as the original has an absolutely rockin' soundtrack, and the new arrangements do them no justice. The graphics are pretty dang sub-par 3D, which is sad because I consider the original one of the pinnacles of 2D graphics. But, in the end, it's almost impossible for the remake to live up such an incredibly high standard, so I can't fault it too much. After that, I played Gradius Collection, and got my ass handed to me in every single one of the games. :P I popped in Gunpey, and I had a fun time with that for awhile, even if I'm not into the whole techno/trance style of puzzle games (I kinda doubt the Wonderswan original was quite like this). Finally, I play Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure for much longer than I expected. I foresee really liking this game when I can devote myself to it. It definitely gives off a whole Tail Concerto/Mega Man Legends/Brave Fencer Musashi kind of vibe both in gameplay and in style, and I love those kinds of adventure games so I'm totally set. Parin is genuinely cute and in a likable way, and I even like her voice actor since it's not a totally mousy, high-pitched voice like you'd expect.
Not much beyond PSP, just a little more Centipede via Atari Anniversary Advance on my Game Boy Advance SP, but I think I'm starting to get a bit burned out on it for the time being. I haven't been getting any scores close to my high score.
On PlayStation, I tried out Bastard!! Another cheap game I bought on a whim just because it's an RPG and I liked the anime when I saw it many years ago (but I've forgotten nearly everything about it now). I knew it had first-person stuff, but I figured it would be more like grid movement. Instead, it's fully 3D movement a la King's Field, and while I enjoy watching other people play those kinds of games, it's pretty much instant nausea when I play, especially in a PS1 game with a choppy frame rate, pop-up, and crappy textures. Ugh. Probably a half decent game, but I don't know if I have the stomach for it any time soon.
Oh, and I forgot to mention previously that I played Eldorado Gate vol. 2 on Dreamcast. Very cool little RPG, and I love the lush 2D graphics. It definitely has that Capcom feel, reminding me of Breath of Fire IV.

Yesterday I came across the Jakks' Deal Or No Deal controller game and bought that. The first game I played, the first case I opened was the million dollar one...not a good start, eh? The game's pretty stinky...very little animation and Howie's character doesn't lip-sync right at all. Still a fun way to kill a few minutes here or there, I guess. I was thinking of picking up Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? but both the PC and DS versions have been panned so I guess I'll skip them.

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved - DS & Wii
So the day before yesterday I sucked at both of these. Yesterday I didn't play on the Wii but on the DS on the way home from work managed to beat my high score, getting 740,000 points. I think its time to try the main Galaxies mode on the wii soon...
Ordyne - PC Engine
Got to the stage 3 boss, who seems pretty hard. I wish the "speed-up" icon was on all the time, would give the game a bit more fun. Stage 3 was a nice level, with the bottom half underwater which made you fly slower and the top half in the air. I managed to net a whopping 100,000 crystals from a fruit machine too, so had plenty of cash to try out all the different weapons.
Alien Crush - PC Engine
I thought I'd try this first before Devil Crash. The most annoying thing is the screen flipping. Especially as it does this a few times when the ball launches out of some weird alien mouth. There seem to be a lack of ramps and things also. But it is has a great theme and its good to destroy videogame alien enemies on a pinball table. The side tables full of enemies are great too. Oh, one more thing, you get a choice of 2 songs, both of which aren't great, and a choice of fast or slow. I opted for fast, and i can't see anyone having much fun at slow, I already find the movement on a lot of PC Engine games a little sluggish.
New Super Mario Bros - DS
So I'd thought I'd give this another go after hating it when I got it and not getting very far. Its still immensely frustrating and there is no excuse for a modern portable game not allowing you to save apart from every 4 or 5 levels. After a while though, I did begin to have fun and see some inventiveness. It has a lot of modern Mario moves however, i miss the backflip. Oh, and that Mega Mario seems completely pointless. I'm only halfway through World 2, unless I play this at home rather than on the bus/train, I don't see me completing it.

Yesterday...I downloaded the Free Undertow Live Arcade Game..on my 360..I still gotta DL it on my Sons.
They don't push it that it's free..You have to find the game block/cilckable flyer on the front page of the 360 dashboard..
I played the game for like an hour though i have no real clue what I'm doing..I love sunken ship stuff so the games theme I took to automatically..
.I don't think it's worth the trouble live has/has had that they are trying to pay people off for..But I'll take it because it's free(before it's gone)..It's the only Full Arcade game I have so far..
One of my all time favorite games on the PS is Treasures of The Deep..
My Nephew and Son started playing Co-op Halo Campain, then fooling aroud in the multiplayer maps..
They were playing the demos on the disc..
Football/ Fusion Frenzy.
I told them..Son.you have a shitload of sports games to play..When not play a full Football game..
They get excited so I put in NFL Fever 2003,it's simple and they both got a handle on it easy..Thugh my nephew keeps running the wrong way with the ball.
I then play with them but my Son shuts me out,I can't score on him..
My wife is a HUGE Football fan so I ask if she's liked to play and she says YES!!
We play a three player game,/my Nephew didn't want to play so I set him up playing Motor Storm on the PS3(he's never played a PS3)
I win the Football Game against my Wife and we had a blast playomg together.(she usually beats me).We have a rematch today.
I'm not sure if we will play this particular football game..I have a 360 Madden football game we could play and or other Football games...but I want to keep the Football game to simplicity..
I may hook up a N64 and play NFL Blitz games wth her as we used to have a lot of fun doing that..
It was cool playing Football with them...I gotta do this more..

I didn't touch my PSP at all yesterday, but the day before that and today I played more Star Ocean 1: First Departure and went through more of my testing backlog. This time I correctly recruited Joshua, giving me a full party of four now, and I headed back to Tatoroy to fight in the arena more. Since my characters gained quite a few levels in Parj Temple, I managed to get all the way to Rank A with Ratix. Beating Rank B was a bit tricky, but, man, Rank A is INSANE. The first enemy, a pathetic little slime, was several times more difficult than any boss I've fought so far. The battle took absolutely forever because on average I was only dishing out 40 HP worth of damage and the slime could block the vast majority of hits that I attempted. I did finally beat it, though, but I was instantly slaughtered by the second enemy. Much to my surprise, they pulled the bird god XINE from Star Ocean 2 for the battle, and I practically crapped my pants when I saw him. :P I knew I was as good as dead. Oh well, I'll tackle Rank A at a higher level.
As for the other stuff, I tried out PoPoLoCrois, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, and Ys: The Ark of Napishtim. PoPoLoCrois on PSP seems to have a bit of a bad reputation, but it seemed pretty fun to me. I like how when you leave town you're just outside in the wilderness rather than being transported to a world map, and I also like how you get into a battle right where you stand. The loading times aren't so hot to begin with, so these smooth transitions probably help it from being even worse. With Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, I didn't even bother to play very far into the intro. This is my fourth version of the game after the Japanese and US originals on PlayStation and the Japanese version of Lenneth. I already very familiar with it as it's one of my favorite games, so no sense in playing long unless I want to start up a new file (in which case I'd be more likely to play on PS1). Finally, Ys seems really cool. Very satisfying old school action, especially with those visceral sound effects. Great stuff. I played much longer than expected. I'd probably prefer to play it on PS2, but since this is the only version I got, I can't complain.
Instead of PSP, yesterday I was playing the Old mode of Heiankyo Alien again, but this time via a Game Boy emulator. I wanted to see if that mode was actually beatable or if it was a typical 70s arcade-style game which would loop forever. Using save states, I played up until around stage 22. Things got progressively more difficult up to 20, but stage 21 was a repeat of stage 1 and ditto for stage 2/22. I don't really see any point in continuing playing the Game Boy cart since there's nothing to beat and the gameplay is far too based on completely random elements. It's pretty much impossible to not get screwed over by bad luck sooner or later. So with that out of my Game Boy Advance SP case, I took a look over my list and discovered I only had one black and white Game Boy game I haven't beaten (besides Boxxle, which still resides in my case) - Mortal Kombat I&II. I popped it in briefly and played the first game, and while it's pretty atrocious, I'll try to stick it out. I made a commitment to myself to beat all my Game Boy games, first eliminating the b/w ones, and you can't appreciate the good without the bad anyway.
And finally, I played Wizardry VII: Guardia no Houshu on my Japanese PlayStation 2 very briefly at my boyfriend's request to see if it had an option to play in English, which many Japanese Wizardry releases do, but sadly this one doesn't.

New Super Mario Bros - DS
Right, so I'm actually enjoying myself with this game now, I'm up to halfway through both worlds 3 and 4 and I also did the bonus A levels for worlds 1 and 2. The game still frustrates me sometimes but I'm having fun, and thinking about playing another Mario game after, maybe Super Mario Land.
Ganbare Neo Poke-Kun - NGPC
It seems the last lot of times I played this I hadn't been saving. Which is damn annoying as last time the annoying little fella finally made me a new game which I beat. I thought it would never happen again but woohoo! he made me that game again, which I didn't beat. Hopefully he'll make me some more. I've put in so much time into this but only got 10/30 of the minigames built, all of them are on high percentages though, even the final game is on 60% built.
Alien Crush - PC Engine
So I got over 10million points and did a 4th bonus stage and the bumpers turned into aliens which I killed. The screen flipping is annoying and I find it hard to aim very far to the right or left. I might try Devil Crash soon.
Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved - Wii
I sucked. That's all.
