Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost And Damned - Xbox 360
Bought this last Thursday and this is only the 2nd time I've loaded it up. Still loving the biker gang feel and look. Got the second story achievement (out of three) and loads of side game type things have opened up as well. Its a shame that there are less achievements for completing these than in the main game. The story is really good though (more to the point than the sprawling main game) and I am liking the characters a lot.

More of this. I found a bike shop selling performance Japanese bikes and used that to win a race for the first time, which was good because the game was stuck on one track, now its unlocked loads and though I lose at those, the courses are really interesting and well made. Also did a ton of story missions, a random character, and got a third new type of shotgun. Good times. Its going to be dissapointing when this ends as I'm enjoying it a lot.

Stacking up the hours on:

- Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2 Grimoire of the Rift (DS) somewhere close to 50 hours and I belive i'm just over half way though...the side quests are infinite!

- Eternal Sonata (PS3) excellent game, and one of the most visually pleasing games to date. Got about 25 hours on it right now and feel I'm getting pretty close to the end.

- Resident Evil 5 (PS3) been playing through with my brother, because of conflicting schedules this isnt always easy. We just hit chapter 5-2 on veteran last night, hoping to finish it off this weekend.

How is it? Once I get another DS I'm thinking of picking it up. Just depends on how good it is how soon I'll pick it up as I'm going to pick it up regardless, just like how I own every other US released Suikoden game, even though the series has started going downhill at Suikoden 4.

I posted this on another forum, I'll re-post it here for you:

It's a really good game, if you appreciate it for what it is, which is a spinoff and not a mainline Suikoden game. There are many differences between it and the numbered series, such as:

No duels
No Runes (replaced by a normal magic system with MP called "Marks of the Stars"
Party consists of 4 characters instead of 6
No returning characters at all
No weapon upgrades (you just buy them from NPCs like in pretty much every other RPG)
No strategic army battles
No cooking competitions

Now, onto the positives. The music is excellent as always, as is the voice acting (the Japanese voices are good, at least, the dub is kinda crappy). The battles are fast and fun, and co-op attacks are still present as always. One downside about the battles, however, is that they're WAY too easy. I was pretty let down by how easy the game was. There are no forced stylus controls, which was a plus for me. The storyline is pretty good, though it's not as politically-inclined as the older games. There are of course 108 Stars to recruit, though as I mentioned earlier they are all newcomers.

Overall, it's a very strong entry in the DS's RPG lineup, and it's personally one of my favorite games on the system. I was let down by how much of a departure it was in some aspects, but it's still a good game in its own right. If you're a longtime fan of the series like I am, go into it with an open mind and you'll most likely enjoy it.

Just bought 9 more PSP games, since it had been awhile and my goal for this year was to expand my PSP library after getting rid of the last of my current-gen consoles. I bought the new Phantasy Star Portable, and being a PSO addict, I've played it since the day I bought it. I just took a break by popping in Tekken Resurrection....which I'm finding difficult, since I've never been a fighter gamer. I'll check out LocoRoco2 later.

Other than that, my Xbox collection has expanded further and another backup machine has been added. Going to get into American McGee's Scrapland, after reading the praise for it in another thread. From the few minutes I played, it definitely looks very unique and VERY cool stylewise. Tight controls too.

Bejeweled 2 Deluxe - Xbox 360 (Live Arcade)
Just a little before work on Friday morning.

Star Prince - DS (Retro Game Challenge)
Given that I claim vertical shoot-em-ups as one of my favourite genres, its surprising that this has been my least played game on this collection. So now spent some time on it, wondered why boss 4 suddenly lasted more than 5 seconds like the other bosses and then realised it was the final boss - only to find out there is a 2nd loop. I hate games with 2nd loops. However, this one makes the game much more interesting as it becomes more challenging now. Played a few more times and keep getting to level 2-3 and then dying.

Big Bang Mini - DS
Played through all the Rio (lvl 7) stages, annoyingly without finishing the bonus rounds and the ones for Rio are these time-based ones which I just can't do - apart from the one on the last level. Its annoying because for the previous stages I've not gone on to the next level until I complete the bonus zones but I just can't do the Rio ones. Started lvl 8 (Paris) as well and the bonus zones there are much more enjoyable.

Rally King/SP - DS (Retro Game Challenge)
Realised I didn't save after completing Rally King last time so redid that, not performing as well and then blasted through Rally King SP as well since its pretty much the same. Its a good game though and I would have liked more courses or the ability to play more laps on the ones you have.

More PSO on the PSP. I started God Of War PSP and don't like the button-press segments and the fact that if you screw up, the sequence changes. It ruins the game. LocoRoco2 just plain sucks. They shouldn't have added the new features because they've gone and made a simple game complicated. Why is it that the bigger my LocoRoco gets, the worse the control response is, particularly the L and R jump buttons? No wonder it's cheap. Trade-in fodder for sure.

Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost And Damned - XBox 360

Completed. Wow. The story missions really built up during the end. Culminating Johnny's involvement in Niko's story, bringing his relationship to all the other main characters to a satisfactory conclusion and the last mission, wow, that was epic. Some sad bits at the end too. Will I play this some more? Sure, I've still got a "male" on the map and I might do some more races to get the achievement, but it doesn't feel right to do any more "gang wars" now.

Nights Into Dreams-Saturn
I finally obtained a copy, so I can see what all the hype was about. I was hooked from the get go. I beat most of the levels. I just need to get a C rank on them to get that last level opened up. I didn't care for the boss battles as much, though that's my only beef with the game. Otherwise another solid addition to my growing Saturn library.

Ice Climber-NES
I tried this out at my local retro game shop, before purchase. I've been interested in this game just from using the Ice Climbers in Brawl. It's a cool, quirky platformer. I have yet to reach the top of the summit, as I usually fall to my death.

I'll be playing some RE 5 co-op tonight at a friend's house. They haven't played it yet, so should be fun showing them the ropes.

DS- order of ecclesia (OMG this game is fucking hard! hardest castlevania, i've ever played)

A misconception by many. The bosses have a ton of HP added and take off quite a bit of damage, but all the bosses are the easiest in the series. The attacks are all plain obvious. Against regular enemies, the game itself is just a button masher as all you need is to jump in range of an enemy and then have your most powerful weapons and mash Y and X repeatedly until you kill them.

Popped in Resistance on the PSP for a look-see. What we have here folks, is the Game Of The Year. This takes gaming on the PSP to incredible new heights and the bar has been raised by a massive amount. This game is a system seller. It just takes 10 minutes to become semi-comfortable with the way the game controls. Sound, graphics, cutscenes, detail.....this game has it all. Other than that, playing PSO on the PSP and started Nascar Thunder 2005 on the Xbox.

Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost And Damned - Xbox 360
Even though its finished I came back to it. Did the final random encounter, all of Stubbs's side missions (which were excellent and really varied) and a load of street races.

Grand Theft Auto IV - Xbox 360
And then I thought I'd check out Niko's game. And what is really surprising is just how different it feels. It looks different, controls different and I want to do different things in each game. Anyway, I did a few more street races, all of lil Jacob's package delivery missions, a random encounter but spent most of my time evading 3 star police chases. I also found a couple of pigeons/stunt jumps and climbed a tall tower and found a sniper rifle on top. Not seeing any pigeons to snipe I waited till dawn and started shooting random pedestrians from my huuuuge vantage point. Then loads of police came. I sniped a few on the ground. Then they started climbing the ladder. You could hear them coming. So I waited and shotgunned the lot of them off the top and then sent a rocket into a helicoptor. Eventually I got shot off or fell off the tower. It was pretty awesome. I love this game still, even after 70 hours + at least 10 or so on the DLC.

Been playing this in the mornings before work for a quick 10minute session.

Mother 3 - GB Micro
So, I play most of my games on a 32" TV, so why have I started an epic game on a screen about 2" by 1"? It does seem excellently put together so far, both the actual game and the fan translation. I've played for 3 and a half hours and finished the first chapter. Its amusing, charming, and is all about the story, with side portions of wandering about and RPG-fighting. I'm only just getting used to the limited inventory spaces and not sussed out the musical-combo based system, which is fun when you get it right but I'm not quite sure how it works yet.
