Dug out one of my copies of Super Breakout so I could test the paddles on those Coleco Gemini controllers I found on Tuesday (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=94574&start=25). They work great, nice and smooth and accurate. By the way, anyone else ever opened one of those things? They're very interesting inside. So I played Super Breakout for an hour or so.
Also played through Felix the Cat for the NES, not a bad game at all, it's actually well done - just easy.

Aussie2B, im a bit of an RPG fan, how does "Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria" ad up? is it an import? need some long term play after DQ8
Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I'm playing the Japanese version, but it's been out in the US for a month or two now. It's a really great game, but I like the original just a bit better. If you've played that one, it's very similar except you can move around in battle prior to attacking and the overall atmosphere of the game is less gloomy. Also, the graphics are 3D but still sidescrolling, and the music is more epic and orchestrated as opposed to prog rock.
As for what I'm playing, I'm still playing Valkyrie Profile 2 and I'm in the Hall of Valhalla. I've alse been playing Wario Land on Virtual Boy now and then. I think I'm up to around the 12th stage.

OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast. Been playing this one for months. Just a lot of fun to do OutRun mode to get a higher score.
GTA: San Andreas. I've played for 40+ hours without using cheats but then realized I had other games to get to and wanted to speed up the process so I said screw it. Using the infinte health/ammo and locked wanted level cheats.
Wild Arms 2. I've only put it over 5 hours but I just can't understand all the hate this game got from reviewers. Gamespot gave it a 5.4 and other sites also thought it was mediocre. Thus far, I'm digging this game. Good music, decent graphics and the story isn't too shappy either, or from what I've seen of it so far. I guess it doesn't hurt that I was a huge fan of the original Wild Arms.
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. Just started this one too. Only over an hour in but I like it. Story is very intriguing and I like the combat stystem even though I thought it was very repetitive at first. Sweet musical score too.

Oh my god i went Genesis crazy today:
Super hang On
Sonic And Knuckles
Cool Spot
Pac Man 2 The New Adventures
Golden Axe
Shit i forgot the rest but I found this stash of games I used to play with my cousin for the genny when I was really young. When we decided to get the genesis back my grandma's we couldn't find that old stash. So I had to buy all new ones. So a few days ago, I was just looking downstairs at my Grandma's for another genesis controller, when all of a sudden....I found the old stash! I was like "OMGWTFHLYSHT." It had tons of games like 6-Pak, (Where i played super hang-On and golden Axe) and the 4 other games I played above. There was also another copy of sonic 2 and sOR 2 since I bought those 2 again last year. I also had Kid chamealon, Sonic 3, And a few others.

I heart compilation discs done right. Examples: Capcom Classics Collection vol. 2 and Sega Genesis Collection. CCCv2 could very well be better than CCCv1. So many SHMUPs, action games, action/platformers and beat 'em ups. Many of the games on CCCv2 I experienced for the first time ever. Awesome stuff. 3 Wonders is genius. Varth, amazing. 1941, possibly the best 194X game. Eco Fighters, oh man! Captain Commando *swoons*
I am loving the save feature for the games in the Sega Genesis Collection. Kid Chameleon is dope and being able to save rocks. Shadow Dancer is tight but the one-hit kills thing is kinda annoying. Shinobi III is ill. Oh and Decap Attack is good.

I've been playing quite a variety of stuff since my last post, but I haven't had the chance to put any serious time into anything. Finals week is going to kill me real soon. o_O But after that I have winter break to play my guts out. :)
Anyway, I'm still playing Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria on PS2, and I'm in the final dungeon. I'm a little over half way through it.
I got a bunch of various imports a week or two ago, so I spent a couple days playing through Haunted Castle via the PS2 port. I had played a couple stages on MAME before, but this was the first time I put any serious effort into it and I beat it. I had the damage and difficulty set to easy, though. The game gets a lot of criticism, but, really, I had a great time with it. There's obviously some flaws in the gameplay design, but there sure is a lot of creativity present. The game has great music, and there's loads of atmosphere. And despite as wonky as the graphics may be designed at times, they're still quite a lot of style and interesting stuff to see.
I also tried out Cyber Org and Front Mission 2 for PlayStation. Unfortunately, I didn't get to do much in Cyber Org since the game crashed right at the first real bit of gameplay. :/ And it's a brand new, sealed copy too. I bet the game has issues with the PS2. Luckily, I unintentionally bought a modified US PlayStation a while back, so I can give it a try on that eventually.
I played a bit of Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie for Super Famicom as well. Quite the badass little shooter. It feels very much like a PC Engine shooter rather than Super Famicom (which, honestly, isn't the greatest system for shooters even if Pop'n TwinBee rocks).
And finally, my boyfriend and I got a Wii. He's been playing Zelda like mad, but I've only played a bit of Wii Sports. I've tried every game but boxing. Bowling is crappy and golf is kinda depressing (which is how I find golf games in general, with the exception of Neo Turf Masters and I suppose the Mario Golf games). Tennis is really fun, though (but I probably would still rank Mario's Tennis on Virtual Boy above it), and baseball is a blast if you have a whole team of Miis designed after family and friends. :)

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. Done with Wonder Land. Now I'm in the Olympus Colisium. I thought I'd have to fight Hades but since Cloud showed up, I guess I'm gonna have to fight him. Better level up before I take him on.
Sega Genesis Collection. I'm advancing farther than I ever have in Vectorman. When I was 14, I could never get past the level with thr ropes and barrels. Now it's child's play, but seeing as how I passed that stage so easily now, it should have been kid's stuff back then, too. I got past Round 3 in Shadow Dancer. Statue of Liberty stage was a bit annoying but I prevailed.
Capcom Classics Collection vol. 2 I've never been able to get past stage 2 of Strider. Now I can. I even got past the 3rd level. Varth is a tough game. Had to turn down the difficulty if I wanted to unlock the last two bits of bonus content.

MVS League Bowling
Whoa!! I really stink at the game today..
I found a different way to play this game today that I have never tried-noticed and wonder if anyone that has came here to play it,did they play it that way..
I usually line up my player set up the aim/hit A when the moving from side to side curser lines up then I hit A again when the power reaches the point where I want it..
I hardly ever move my player on his approach unless I'm trying to correct a throw.(or get fancy)
Today I only hit A to line up the aim curser and let the power go automatically while moving my character to line him up for the throw as I would do in real life bowling..
When I'm moving my character he's into the throw then releases the ball, The power in the throw is always the same..
Could I actually get a more consistent game doing it this way....Hmmm

Sega Genesis Collection. My freaking word, Kid Chameleon is freaking hard. I'm on day 14 in Vectorman, I think. I LOVE being able to save in these games. Shadow Dancer, I'm on level 4-3. Shinobi III on the Genesis is my favorite of the whole series from the SMS up to the Xbox/PS2 games. The graphics are clean, controls smooth, story is classic Shinobi and the soundtrack is awesome.
Although I've beaten it I'm now just doing the extras in Castlevania: DoS before starting on PoR. I've put about an hour into PoR to try it out and get a basic feel for it and it is on par with DoS with those newly added features and plot. On the PC I've been doing the Total Annihilation thing and some Cossacks European Wars. Still waiting for the Supreme Commander launch on the 2nd of Jan. =)

I'm mostly playing New Super Mario Brothers (DS) this week...
I'm trying to finish up FFXII. I'm near the very end (the last point where you can still go anywhere on the game map), but I have a lot of things I could still work on (lots of unfinished hunts for one). However, at 75 hours of game time I'm starting to get a little burned out and would like to finish the game and move on.
I also started replaying Halo 2. Enjoying it a lot more than the first time around. I'm not sure why I was so disappointed with the game when it first came out (in comparison to the original that is), but playing on Heroic this time instead of the normal difficulty and having fun.
Bought Twilight Princess for GC yesterday, but I'm not sure when I'll have time to play it. I haven't even finished Wind Waker yet (hangs head in shame).
Other than the above, last weekend I was watching over my nephews and we spent all of Saturday playing the Saturn. The older one (13) was disappointed at first that we wouldn't be playing Xbox or something more recent, but once we got into a couple of games he forgot about "how crappy everything looked and sounded". Played Guardian Heroes, Three Dirty Dwarves, Marvel vs. Street Fighter, D&D Collection, and Street Fighter Zero 3. Good times.
