I bought the GTA double-pack (GTA III and VC) for XBox, so I've been playing them. Booted up my Dreamcast yesterday, played some Chu Chu Rocket, Atari Anniversary Edition, NFL 2K1, Tennis 2K2, Capcom vs. SNK... I need to play my DC more often...

I am so damn close to finishing Evolution! The game is alright, but it gets tedious and repetetive pretty fast, so I can only play it for about an hour or two before I take a break and do something else. I really want to find a copy of Evolution 2 and give it a try.

I am also getting pretty damn good at DOA2...

I finally beat RE4 ealier this week, and I must say, it's one of the finest games of the current generation of games. One of the few games IMHO that truly showed how the hardware can really give us the "next generation" experience.

Just started God of War this evening, and it too is looking to be one of the best games of this generation. Very fun, visually stunning, great musical score, but sometimes the hit-detection seems to be a bit off.

right now I'm playing Eternal Darkness for GameCube and FFVII. I've never beat final fantasy VII, so I figured I would try to beat it before Advent Children came out.

My wife and I started(competition) playing Pole Position as I love the twist of the knob steering on the Namco Mrs. Pac Man TV Plug and Play Game.....

For once I beat her in this game and I did my best ever using this control method..

Played a few missions in ACE COMBAT 5..

My Son found some never before seen by me secret tunnels in GTA SA.

Getting near the last main storyline missions of GTA 3 on Xbox.....and it's getting difficult.

I'm experiencing the gameplay quality of Street Racing Syndicate disolve before my very eyes. :( And these are the guys that make the magnificent Ridge Racer games....

Gonna play some Mario Golf on Cube while I think about GTA. Maybe start Harvest Moon Wonderful Life.

Hey everyone I am new to posting on the boards but not new to browsing them.

Lately I have been playing Resident Evil 4, I completed the game and I am now checking out the extras like the mercenary missions and Assignment Ada. I also have been playing Midnight Club 3: Dub Editon.

Friday night I had some buddys over for some classic gaming. We played 4 player Warlords and 4 player quadrapong on the 2600. Four player Atari is still a lot of fun. Also tried out Man Goes Down with the Atarivox. This is a grade A homebrew, very polished and addictive. Checked out the Mail Plane proto for the Vectrex as well as playing I Cyborg and a few other Vectrex gems.

On the 5200 we tried out Blaster, Bristles, Combat 2 Advanced, Haunted House 2 Advanced and Koffi. Koffi is the best of the lot, I need to get a copy someday. Blaster is wierd but fun, Bristles is pretty good, but Combat 2 and Haunted House 2 are duds.

On the Colecovision we played Qbert's Qubes, Grog's Revenge, Ms. Space Fury and Space Invaders Collection. Qubes is my favorite, but the other folks seems to prefer the elegance of the original.

All in all a great time.

I picked up Crash Bandicoot Purple yesterday at K-Mart for 50% off and haven't been able to put it down. It is full of really fun mini games involving tanks, helicopters, rafts, and riding on the back of a wild polar bear, and I just got it so who knows what else. I have been pleasantly suprised by this one so far.

I guess I'll have to pick up Spyro orange next. :)

GBA - Final Fantasy Tactics Advance

I'm really enjoying this game alot more than I thought that I might. Have a big backlog of GBA, GB, & GBC games to play and just happened to pick up this title today. Will be playing on it for awhile.

I just picked up Viewtiful Joe--I've never played it before--but I love it for the following reasons:

-Like JSRF it uses cell-shaded graphics.
-the Matrix-like powers
-warped humor...not as much as Psychonauts...but--
--The fact that it mimics the Japanese sentai serials--which would include the US versions (aka Power Rangers) with the poses, powers and even the call out: "henshin a go-go, baby!"...which isn't a far cry from "henshin..magi...magi...magiranger"

Is VJ2 better or a rehash?

If you liked the first game, and the second game played just like it, wouldn't you like the second game too?

Anyway... I just finished my third run through Super Mario Sunshine. I love that game, highly underrated.

Now I'm thinking about going through either Symphony of the Night again or the best game ever made: A Link to the Past. :)

Ace Combat 5
Last night I left off on a difficult yet tricky mission failing it twice..What sucks is I kept failing near the end..

Today I try and figure out just what I'm doing wrong to fail so badly after playing my heart out.
I fail twice before I decide to try somethings different...First off I try and destroy the "friendly" Cargo planes that are sitting on the allied airport runway as they are lit up for a reason..No matter what I pour at them they don't get any damage..These fooling planes are actually enemy planes that let out Tanks once I fly to the opposite side of the map and take out the enemy planes.(figured this out after failure)

The game tries to lure me to the opposite side of the map so it can attack the airport I'm defending..Nothing will happen if I don't fly towards and knock out the circling planes at the opposite side of the map..The timer will run down and I'm pretty sure that means failure too.
So to advance in the mission you have to go to the opposite side of the map..and by the time you take the planes down the airport I'm defending is too badly damaged.(failure)
I improvised and kept taking shots at the planes at the opposite side of the map,weakening them until I had one left..I then ordered my wingmen to attack it while I flew back fast to the Airport..This though hectic gave me enough time to prevent the tremendous amount of damage that was being done.
Plus: I focused on all the attacking Tanks first..

My Son taught me tonight that I can lift and tow cars,vehicles with a tractor..Shoot,I never knew that..

Final Fantasy 5 the third crystal was just destryed, and so far I'm enjoying the game along with the jobs. Its a neat little system.

As of today:

Alundra (PS1) - Just finished the graveyard dungeon. I wonder how much farther I can get in this game before I have to resort to using a Faq... hopefully all the way.

Contra III (SNES) - Trying to 1CC on Normal. Man, this game is harder than Hard Corps if you ask me!

Ninja Five-O (GBA) - Finally beat it on Hard Mode. Now I'm trying to beat all the time attack scenarios. I'm up to the 3rd cave level, almost done!

I just picked that game up myself, Friday.. I think. Anyway, I have been enjoying it too, just made it to Ep 3. I think the power ups you can buy are a great touch, reminds me a little of River City Ransom in that respect.

My 4 yr old Son is gong to teach my wife how to play Halo/2 ...with us linked....because he knows the buttons that well.
He was showing her what each button does with detailed explanation and I was very impressed..

The older gentleman orders one hamburger, one order of fries and one drink.
He unwraps the plain hamburger and carefully cuts it in half, placing one half in front of his wife. He then carefully counts out the fries, divides them into two piles and neatly places one pile in front of his wife.

He takes a sip of the drink. His wife takes a sip and then sets the cup down between them.

As he begins to eat his few bites of hamburger, the people around them keep looking over and whispering. You could tell they were thinking, "That poor old couple - all they can afford is one meal for the two of them."

As the man begins to eat his fries, a young man comes to the table. .He politely offers to buy another meal for the couple. The old man says, "No thank you, we're fine. We're used to sharing everything."

The surrounding people notice the little old lady hasn't eaten a bite. She just sits there watching her husband eat and occasionally takes a sip of the drink.

Again the young man comes over and begs them to let him buy another meal for them. This time it's the old woman who says politely, "No, thank you, we are used to sharing everything."

As the old man finishes his food and wipes his face neatly with the napkin, the young man again comes over to the little old lady who has yet to eat a single bite of food. He asks, "What is it you're waiting for?"

She answers . . . "The teeth."

I just started playing The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. I don't play games on handhelds unless I'm not at home. So this one is being played on my Super Gameboy. 8-).

today i was feeling ill so apart from sleeping and eating all i did was play games:
Another Code - DS - finished off the last 3 chapters of the game. It was really good, lots of great story in the last chapter. A good adventure which makes innovative use of the DS for some puzzles
Loaded up disc 4 of Shenmue II on the Dreamcast so I could play Outrun and Space Harrier. Only played one game of Space Harrier as I never really liked it much but got a bit further than I remember. Played on Outrun for ages, I'm still pretty crap at it though. I really wanted to play it again because on holiday I played the arcade one with the moving seat which was so much fun. Makes me wish I had a steering wheel though.
Also played:
Cosmic Smash - Dreamcast
Puzzle Bobble Mini - NeoGeoPocketColor

And I tried for a good hour to get Fatal Fury 2 working on the NeoGeo CD emulator for dreamcast but its not happening. Think I need to make a CDR of the game from the real NGCD disc and then play it but the disc wont copy. I'll try it on my desktop PC another day.
Also watched RetroCore Volume 9 on my GBA Movie Player. It was quite good.
Also tried out some of the games on the 2D shoot-em-up collection disc on the front of Retro Gamer magazine. They were pretty much all dissapointing. I need to buy myself a good Dreamcast shooter methinks

Recently I've been playing:

Zelda: Ocarina of Time (GCN) (started again on the GC bonus disc version, absolutley loving it. Currently in the Water Temple)
Kirby Canvas Curse (DS) (fantastic, quite far into it now)
Electroplankton (DS) (also fantatsic, I it recommend to everyone)
Zoo Keeper (DS) (playing wireless battle mode with my old man, good fun)

And this week is the first week in a long time where I havent been on Xbox live playing Halo 2 because all my buddies are away.

Played one mission tonight only.MISSION 15 : WHITE NOISE as I just read at Gamefaqs it's one of the single most frustrating missions..And I agree..
I found this mission to be very compelling....All I wanted to do so badly was rescue this girl..as the radio chatter of her,my wingmen,enemies etc make the game,this mission so much more "compelling"
The story in this game has sucked me in deep..

One of my wingmen KEI NAGASE: the 108ths only female pilot.. was shot down in a previous mission and we going in to find her and assist in rescuing her..
The amount of enemy forces trying to find her makes for an intense fight...I don't think I've ever played a Jet game so hard making turns/shooting,ordering my wingmen around,flipping....
And I kept Failing due to the planes I chose..As I figured out,I needed to have a plane with speed to find NAGASE fast yet mobile to keep on her signal,and avoid the enemy missiles up my 6 o'clock.
I finally got the right plane and after I rescued here 'mission Accomplished I had a smile on my face and a sign of relief.
This mission was rough but one of the best in the game..

Also tried out TRON 2.0 Killer App. It's pretty cool, especially if you're a TRON fan, but it's a bit clunky compared to HALO...

TEKKEN 3 Arcade...


I spent some time cleaning my Cabs today..the Kitchen Klax machine with Pledge Orange Oil..(wood grain)
...I used that stuff to get the goo/sticky residue off of the top of the Gumball machine and it worked..Nothing else not even bleach would take it off..

The other day I home and the first thing I saw was the big red and I had felt like I had missed it,as I've not touched the cab/played it in some time..ever since I got the pocket bike...(that stole all my interest and time :/ )
The cab just made me flash back to times when I would play one so long ago in an Arcade..It was like I was seeing the cab for the first time again..
One of my fondest memories is seeing Base Ball Stars 2 and other games playing in a 4 slot in an Arcade near me.. and I remember looking up at the marquees saying...Man I've never seen anything like this,this is awesome!!.....It seemed so rich,So rich that I was scared to play it at first. :embarrassed: ..
So rich in detail..I was so lost seeing this machine that my Mom had to yell at me a few times to get me to wake up out of my stare.. x_x
I wish I could go back to that first time I saw that machine in that Arcade...........I was in Awe...

Early in the morning when I couldn't sleep I loaded up my DS and gave some Nes roms a go, nothing doing for me so I had a go on Meteos - and it must of lasted me a good hour or two, its an awesome game. Puzzler with the incentive of progress through gaining new planets/items. I even tried out the Time War mode which was really good fun although I can't beat the 1000 Meteos challenge.

In the evening I thought I'd give a couple of Dreamcast games a go that I'd never really played before. So in went Virtua Fighter 3tb. I played a couple of games as Akira and Lion but could never get past the 3rd contender. I kindof gave up after a while because I didn't really feel like playing it and the one I remember from the arcades is Virtua Fighter 2.

So then I tried Racing Simulation 2: Monaco Grand Prix. What a crap game it turned out to be. I persisted for a good half an hour trying to give it a chance but no. Lousy graphics, awful handling, horrendous music and poor AI. I could go on. The only thing going for it was it having all the Formula One tracks. So I gave up on it finally and plugged in Le Mans 24 Hours (Test Drive Le Mans) to give a good racing game a go. I was dissapointed that I'd accidentely deleted my old save game so I just played a few quick races on the tracks available from the start. I was blown away by everything about it and hooked. The graphics are utterly amazing. The driver AI is good and the feeling of really racing is there. Once I get a new memory card I'm going to start this game from scratch and go through all the tournaments. After a few races I had already come first in the few available tracks (apart from Le Mans, I'm not ready to tackle that yet). I gotta get myself a new memory card. I'll try the car boot this weekend, if not I'll get a nice coloured one off ebay

SSX Tricky. I just bought it for the first time. I remember that it got rave reviews when it was released......but since I have already played tons of the sequel, SSX 3, Tricky is kinda "meh" by comparison. Tricky is just a snowboard racer, but SSX 3 is a whole bunch more with killer exploration to it.

-Burnout 3: Takedown


Also been playing Beyond Good and Evil which is turning out to be one of the most incredible games I have ever played. The game is beautiful in every way from the eviorments to the characters. The story is captivating, the gameplay is incredible combining multiple Genres and seamlessly blends them together. I don't know why I waited so long to play this game. I love the style too to me it beats many games in creating an amazing and colorful enviorment but with dark elements to it.

ya, it is a good game. I just beat it about two weeks ago. I hated the pig.

Finished SSX Tricky. Only took me two days. Pretty easy game when you get down to it.

It's back to playing Street Racing Syndicate.

Finished a couple more competitions. Just 2 left!

-Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins (GB)
Completed the Turtle Zone and got the 6th coin. Up next, Wario.
-Need For Speed Underground 2 (GBA)
-Racing Gears Advance (GBA)
Started the game. Once I got past the learning curve, it got fun. I completed the Alpha Circuit with Throttle.
