Just got home from a friends house. I brought over some NES games and we played: Galaga, Dig Dug II, Super Mario Bros. 3, Othello, Vindicators, Gyruss, and some Sky Shark. It's always fun times to bust out childhood memories and attempt to burst each others high scores. He got tired so we only got a bit over 3hrs of gaming in.
Also aside from the NES, earlier today I was doing some Bust-A-Move 2 Arcade on the Saturn as a celebration getting the Bust-A-Move DS game, and not having the handheld yet. :D My dad and I went at it in Grid Runner (Saturn) and I came out on top, but for some reason that game just isn't too fun head-to-head.
Lastely I've been spending a bit of time trying to get use to Rainbow Six 3 Raven Shield because it's a different type of FPS from Quake, Doom, or Serious Sam titles. It's pretty fun to try out the tacticle side of shooting things and having an actual mission.

I've been playing Dino Crisis on the Dreamcast for the past couple of days.
I've also got one of my mates staying over at the moment, so I've roped him into playing World of Illusion on the MD with me. I think we (he) needs a bit more practise. He's not the biggest gamer ever. Although we did have a crack on Final Fight on MegaCD and Knights of Valour on PGM and he enjoyed those.

I finally beat Goemon on the Konami GB Collection Vol. 3 last night. :) After much practice, I finally got through that area with Miko (I even found more than 4 pearls, so I guess they don't expect you to find just 4 exact places). After that, I got through the final stage in one try. :/ Everything seemed easy in comparison to the Miko part (and maybe now I know why Miko was never brought back; everyone must associate her with such a frustrating area).
A few imports I bought arrived, so I've also been using my SP for Beatmania GB. I bought it on a whim, since I have very little experience with music games. It's pretty fun, but I suck so badly. After a ton of practice, I'm able to beat the easy songs and about half of the normal songs on easy difficulty with full buttons. I think I'm getting a little burnt out on it, though, so maybe it's time to shelf it for awhile and take a break.
Also got three Super Famicom games - The Blue Crystal Rod, Fuurai no Shiren, and TwinBee: Rainbow Bell Adventure. TwinBee is just great, but I surprisingly haven't been playing it much. Maybe I'm not in the mood for it right now. The Blue Crystal Rod is neat for being an entry in the Druaga series, but I can't tell what the hell I'm doing in it. I suck at 3D maze style RPGs. I don't know if I'll be able to beat this unless someone writes a walkthrough for it. Fuurai no Shiren is pretty cool. I'm generally not into randomly created dungeon crawlers, but man, the graphics and music are so beautiful in this game. It's so serene and gorgeous; it really feels like the ancient Japanese countryside. And boy is it Japanese; I practically had a heart attack when I got to the file selection menu and saw 5 options ALL in kanji, then I deleted a file and got *8* kanji options. :P Good grief, cut me a little slack, hehe.

What do ya know, I crawled out of my hole and played some games...
Daytona USA Circuit Edition - Saturn (JPN)
MANX TT SuperBike - Saturn
A little time with the Saturn a couple nights ago.
DDRMAX - PS2
Took a break from import 3rd Mix on the PlayStation to play some Americanized DDR. That MyMyBox platform is working out pretty good now that I've broken in the modifications I performed. The up panel got stuck down in the middle of a massive combo, but it was the last step in the string. So I dive down on my knees, madly smacking at it to pop back up (I slid up onto it a bit hard so the top caught beneath the top layer of the platform), but nope.. lost the combo before I could fix it. So I reset and as I was standing back up the panel popped back up. LOL
Lunar Lander - GB (JPN)
Damn the landings in the third mission are a bitch, meteors raining down left and right at high speed. Once on the surface the mining expeditions are no walk in the park either.
Speaking of which, does anyone have a good box scan of Lunar Lander for the Gameboy? Information on the game is next to nonexistent as it is - outside from a couple pages with the romdump and a blurry picture on eBay. I've known about the game for awhile and was thrilled to find a copy of it loose. However I'd like to have a scan / good picture of the box for my archival and also when I go to review it.

Checkout out the other 2 DS games I got from Play-Asia a while back finally, and will probably play them on upcoming train journeys:
Unou no Tatsujin: Soukai! Machigai Museum - DS
Ok, its basically spot the difference. But intense and with some novel features. Its part of Namco's "brain training" series so includes a graph which shows something about your brain which would be nice to understnad but its in Japanese, and also features cameos from folks like Pac-Man, Mr.Driller, Katamari etc and also some 8bit game graphics. Its a really fun game but i'm worried its going to be a little short - which is a shame.
Devlish - DS
Well, its an update to a 16-bit game and it looks like one. We'll see if i take to it
Space Channel 5 - Dreamcast
Started and completed the extra mode. Was cool, like new versions of all the levels. I can't believe there's only 4 levels to this game, it took me ages to complete before and this time breezed through Extra mode, only failing to rescue the new "toyboy" guy on the 1st level.
Psyvariar 2 - Dreamcast
Someone told me on another forum about the brown/blue orbs and their affect on levelling up. Tried it out and that makes me area0 level consistant and added another 10 level-ups to my area1 run.

Had a mate over last night for a gaming session.
Castle of Illusion (MD) - Great fun with this. Got really far, then we died and couldn't be arsed.
Final Fight (MCD) - Got to level 5, then we got our asses kicked.
Bare Kuuckle II (MD) - Ah yeah, we showed 'em on this one.
Captain Commando (PSone) - Thrashed through this too.
Knights of Valour: Super Heroes (C-PGM) - My mate's never played this or even seen the PGM Console running. He's well impressed. Absolutely cracking game.
And then we finished off with a few rounds on Samurai Shodown! II (C-MVS). And he won. Damn.
By that time, it was about 2am. So he buggered off home and I went to bed. He did bring his GP2X though. I have to say, I'm impressed. Had a quick go on Blazing Star and Samurai Shodown and the emulation is very, very good.
As for today, another chum is coming over in a bit with his Xbox. Gonna get that little beasty installed with Cromwell and GentooX. Heh. And my DC keeps resetting, which is seriously interupting DinoCrisis. Best get that fixed today too.

Heh, I guess the Goemon bug has bitten in my house, since now my boyfriend has convinced me to play Goemon's Great Adventure with him. It's kind of a funny coincidence since right when I was beating Goemon on Game Boy the next Dwelling of Duels (music arranging competition done by the whole VGMix/OCRemix crowd) was announced as Mystical Ninja month, so now my boyfriend (arranger "Snappleman") is going nuts with Goemon overload trying to pick which song/s he wants to arrange (he was also working on drawing the banner for the month but didn't have any good software to color it in with and ran out of time). I'm sure this competition will result in a ton of great music. :) As for Goemon's Great Adventure, we've been playing both simultaneously and taking turns (the latter being much easier), and we're up to Ryugu's castle. Talk about an amazing game; the level design is simply brilliant and the challenge makes it so intense. This is surely one of the greatest platformers ever made. It feels so good to be playing it again after all these years. :)

I'd completely forgotton what a fabulous game this really is. I was only intending to have a quick go, but ended up playing the first two missions through and then sat there reading all the emails from people I'd rescued.
I have to admit, I've never played all the way through the game. But I can't wait to get home from work tonight and continue playing.

Still chipping away at Suikoden V. Also been playing thru Picture Puzzle again on NGPC...
Had a buddy over on Saturday and we played a bunch of stuff...
Destroy All Humans seemed pretty cool. The graphics were better than I thought, and the number of things you can do is pretty varied...
Played several games on the Capcom Classics disc...
-Street Fighter II CE, natch.
-Exed Exes was a bit repetative and the music was grating...
-1943 was also repetative but it held our interest for 5 carriers or so...
-Forgotten Worlds sure is bizarre, but it held our interest till the end...
Then played Street Fighter EX+alpha and I have to say it's a fun as I remember it. Skullomania Roolz!
Then played some Robotech: Battlecry and again was pleasantly surprised. Not a bad early game. I'll have to pick this one up... The 2 player is pretty worthless though...
Then we busted out the Dreamcast for a round of Under Defeat (seems cool need to give it another go) then switched up to Crazy Taxi 2 (which is still pretty awesome)...
Cheers,
Ben

Slight problem upon getting home from work and firing up the Saturn: the AR+ cart no longer contains my save file. Not happy. So I've just sat there and played through the first two levels again, and now the Saturn decides the AR+ isn't even there. And no, I don't have a damn sodding battery for the internal memory. Ok, so tomorrow I'll go get a battery, then we're on for Burning Rangers: Take 3. That training level is getting to me now.

I haven't been doing much gaming the last few days, but I have been doing a lot of gaming related stuff like reading old PSM issues and working on my site. But now I've started up another file in Dynastic Hero on my PC Engine Duo-RX. I got Poseidon's spear, so now I'm just exploring underwater before going to Poseidon's cave. There's this one damn treasure chest that's driving me nuts. I know I've gotten it in my last game and I'm sure it's just gold, but my obsessive-compulsive nature won't let me forget about it. o_O I checked the whole damn screen for the secret door, but since I know the doors can be kind of picky if you're not centered well on them, I guess I'll have to look some more.

Just played and beat D on the Saturn. It was a pretty interesting game and found it to be really short when using a walkthrough guide for assistance. It took around 90 minutes to complete the game (Chose the "good" ending) using the guide when not sure what to do, which was a few times especially during the room rotation part. The graphics were crisp and remind me of Myth. It's worth a play for those that haven't touched it before, but keep in mind there's no save spot so you must play right through and require a good/working Saturn battery or memory cartridge to play.
Earlier tonight though, I was playing some Bust-A-Move 2 Arcade trying to beat a few high scores, instead just pushed down some of the high ranking scores in different modes of play (PvC & Puzzle).

I'm at the end of Dynastic Hero now (it's a short game). I could just go beat the game, but I'm working on maxing out my magic. My last file in the game was kind of sucky. I was missing two hearts and I didn't even find the guy that takes charm stones. I figured I'd make a perfect file this time. I got all the hearts, and I've traded 4 charm stones for magic. Power magic is the only one that isn't maxed out, so I just need two more charm stones to have everything maxed out. Too bad it takes more time saving up 500,000 gold by killing monsters in order to buy one charm stone than it takes to complete an entire dungeon. :/ While it's cool that they give you the option to save up a bunch of money and buy life or magic upgrades, it stinks that it's the ONLY way to fully max out the magic. Why couldn't they have just hidden a few more chests with magic? Either way you don't need it since it's a very easy game, but it would still be nice for perfectionists like me.

Unou No Tatsujin: Soukai! Machigai Museum
Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain?
Did about 20 more of the nice relaxed spot the difference puzzles in Unou... then later bought Brain Training (UK launch day) and gave it a go, I'm so glad they kept the Brain Training name rather than calling it Brain Age like the american version. Well, i guess i missed my daily training yesterday and most probably will do today, Dr.Kawashima might tell me off...
