Played through the first 8 levels of Perfect Dark Zero on 360.

How do you like it so far?

It's pretty good, I got it for $20 at Circuit City so I figured I didn't have too much too lose. The weapons and enviortments in the game are just downright cool, my only complaint is the AI is a little lacking.

past couple days:

Zoo Keeper
Brain Training
Nanostray

Finally unlocked everything in Brain Training! The last game, Voice Calculation is brilliant and a great use of the DS microphone and voice recognition, I'm surprised they didn't put this one in near the start to show off.

Completed Adventure mode on Nanostray. Trying to do it on arcade now, its a pretty hard game and also really enjoyable - i've been wanted a portable shmup for a while so its really nice to have one.

Of course, today my goodies I ordered last week arrived in the post, so i'm sure to post about them tomorrow...

I just beat Kingdom Hearst and now I've returned to a few games I haven't played in a while:

PS2 - God of War

Sparingly playing this one. Working on God Mode at the moment, which is really tough. The thing I like though is that you have the luxury of save points. I HATED Devil May Cry 3's system and that's the only part I think was harder between the two so far. I just got around to the part with those twin blade creatures that sink into the ground. UGH. I pretty much got down a perfect strategy until I climbed up the stairs and they threw about 4 of those things at me with an OGRE. Have to retry it again soon.

PS2 - Shadow of the Colossus

It's been irking me that I haven't completed the unlockables in this one so I went back. I FINALLY !@#$ing killed the 3rd Colossus on Hard Time Attack. Five minutes for that thing is LUDICROUS. The only way to do it is to use the exploit to jump from his sword to his head. The only one I have left is the one that swims, and you have to control his movements with the teeth on his head. After that, I've done em all.

On Wednesday I got my brand new GB Micro Famicom Edition! Its utterly beautiful - a brilliant little piece of kit and the Japanese Famicom version looks gorgeous. I've been using it and the Play-Yan Micro as an mp3 player - also been playing the 3 bitGenerations games:

Boundish
Dialhex
Dotstream

Loving Dotstream and Dialhex a lot, in fact, Dialhex is in my head at the moment, the little hexagons - reminds me of the talk of people dreaming about Tetris - I'm off to play it before bed.

Not content with one extravagant console purchase this week, on Friday I purchased a used PS2 slimline in black. Been playing one hell of a game:

OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast

This is brilliant - just pure fun, everything about it screams fun. Sega have done it again.

I haven't been online much in the last couple weeks since I'm on vacation, but I suppose it's about time I catch up on my summer gaming.

The main thing is that I finished Valkyrie Profile, getting the A ending. I'm excited to do the Seraphic Gate, but I'm going to put that off for a later date.

After beating that, I decided to play through Castlevania 4 again, since I've been reading old Nintendo Power issues and I'm currently on the one with the CV4 cover. My performance against Dracula was rather shameful, though; I died way too many times. I used to be able to beat him and Death exceptionally easy, but I guess I'm rusty. I blew through the rest of the game pretty well, though. I think I was doing worse at the end because my boyfriend was trying to provoke me. :P

I've done a little bit of dabbling here and there with Punch-Out!!, Rygar, and Rescue: The Embassy Mission on NES; Lagoon on SNES; and Sonic 3 + Knuckles on my CDX (playing as Tails as a helper while my boyfriend played as Sonic).

But for my next commitment, I'm planning on going with Final Fantasy 2 via Final Fantasy Origins on PlayStation. Last summer I played through Final Fantasy on NES (for the first time), so I think I should move onto the next one. I made a little goal for myself to beat more of the Final Fantasy series since I'm such a big RPG fan and it's kind of embarrassing to have not beaten so many games in the series.

These past few days I've been playing the first series of Bit Generations on my lovely Famicom GB Micro.
Spent the most time on Dialhex which I've now completed. Sometimes when not thinking during the day I found myself staring into space rotating hexagons about, argh!
Dotstream is also great, completed the 5 campaigns so just need to get 1st place on a few more individual races to unlock the last thing.
Boundish I've only played once on the bus for a quick go, I wasn't very good and its definitely the worst of the 3 Bit Generations games so far but still good fun

Gradius Galaxies, loop 2 normal mode, and the game is definitely giving me quite a beating in the bio stage (trying to play it at work, can't concentrate, but need the GBA in case it's slow at work and boredom sets in ;) ).

Would love to have the Japanese Generations as it has 2 bonus stages of lots of enemy ships and bullet spam that you have to wade through, a challenge stage if you will (there are actually 2 challenge stages).

Currently playing:

Xbox - Castlevania Curse of Darkness

Haven't been back to this one for a little while, but I enjoyed the time I've spent on it so far. Just killed the minotaur boss and got to the village. Only thing I dislike about the game is the level design and graphics are so BLAND. I don't really like the ID system either. I LOVE item combining though, it's quite fun stealing rare materials and making bad ass new weapons.

Xbox - Star Wars: KOTOR

Finally started this one. I'm about 10 hours in, and pretty far. I got the star map on the wookie planet, and am in Tatooine now. I've gone totally dark side of course. Everyone gets murdered. I have it saved at the droid shop....I'm getting HK47, but I'm not sure if I should pay 4000, or threaten him for dark side points and pay 2500. Only thing I don't like about threatening this time around, is he won't sell to you anymore if you do it. I'll probably just suck it up and spend 4000.

I also finally got around to sorting my loose change. 108 in the bank. Probably gonna go buy a 360 game or two. Most likely will get Dead Rising, and MAYBE Saint's Row.

On the Playstation:
Spiderman 2
Tennis
Street Fighter EX2
Pipedreams 3D

Spiderman 2 was fun in the roaming mode where it feels as though you're in the matrix. I liked the physics and gameplay roaming around there, pretty cool.
Tennis, dear god I had to turn that off after just a few minutes. I couldn't figure out how NOT to fault so it felt pointless to continue.
Street Fighter EX2, alright but I just don't care much for 3D polygonal fighting, especially the older blocky kind. I'm sure I'll try it out again later down the road and possibly like it.
Pipedreams 3D is worth he few bucks to get. The handling is a bit different from the PC original but it's still solid and fun. At least in this one you can spill some liquid but fix it where it's leaking and keep going. Cool levels too, just bad the music isn't set to loop: 2 minutes of music then silence, only sound is you laying pipes; not the best thing.

I haven't done much gaming this past week or so since I've been so busy doing stuff on my vacation, but I have tried out some purchases I just recently made. On Game Boy, I tried Heiankyo Alien, which I was inspired to buy because of that topic here awhile back devoted to it. On NES, I tried NARC, Xenophobe, RoboWarrior, and Defender II. NARC and Xenophobe seem pretty lousy to me, and Defender isn't really my thing (I have an aversion to shooters where you can turn back and forth to head in both directions, for some reason). RoboWarrior is kind of interesting, though. It's like a combination of Bomberman and Blaster Master (well, it should be like Bomberman, at least, since it's some sort of spin-off). On my CDX, I played the Genesis games Marsupilami and Altered Beast, and I played the Sega CD game Lethal Enforcers II: Gun Fighters. I really have to get the Konami gun some time; it's a fun game (even if I get assaulted with "you can't hit the broad side of a barn!" over and over, hehe). Oh, and I played a little bit of Sonic 3 with my boyfriend again.

Finally, I made some time to get back to Final Fantasy II via Final Fantasy Origins on PlayStation. I finished up Deist Cavern, which took a fair chunk of time, and then briefly got Gordon back to rescue the real Hilda. Then I got Leila back again, and I quickly retook Fynn Castle. Getting the castle back was kinda lackluster. I thought it would be some significant part of the game. I assumed I would fight the Dark Knight and recruit Maria's brother and all that jazz. Instead, I fought some no name guy and then everybody just appeared in the castle in front of me. Oh well, since there's a ton of treasure in the castle that I still haven't found, I assume more of it will open up later. Now I have to head to Mysidia to find Mindu and get the Ultima spell.
